Stupid miserable British weather.

On the 7th May in Leeds it reached the dizzy heights of 63 (17 degrees). It probably felt warm as it had been freezing up to that point.

And for the whole of autumn and winter too! Sounds wonderful.

I feel very sorry for all the weddings/BBQs/ festivals/camping trips. But oh to curl up on the sofa with a cuppa 🙄

I know right!

you can hibernate for months with your hot cuppa and candles. But no one wants it in JULY! It’s sooooooo boring

Honestly the ‘snuggling under the duvet on the sofa all cosy’ posts make me want to vom even in Autumn. I mean if I’m ill I may lie in the sofa but for 9 months? So boring (and lazy).

I love summer evenings- going for a walk/run. Eating outside with friends. Just sitting in my garden. But no we have to listen to this cosy crap in July!

WildFlowerBees · 22/07/2023 20:47

It's been tipping down all day today for us, good thing about that is the neighbours kids aren't screaming at the top of their lungs outside.

Zipps · 22/07/2023 20:58

It's shit. We had six months of winter weather this year and about 3 nice weeks of lovely sunshine then relentless rain. We go away a lot and have holidays abroad and we had a few weeks away in our campervan before the heavens opened but I am still sick of it. Feel sorry for all the young families that have struggled to afford a UK holiday this year and then have to put up with this.

Bonfire23 · 22/07/2023 20:59

Brilliant(!)
I would settle for 19c and dry at this point

Don't know where everyone is, but in Cumbria we haven't been cold since the end of April! May and June were unusually hot and dry. Rain this week but still warm, humid.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 22/07/2023 21:29

Wow so many upset I used the cosy 😂 apparently I’m also just lazy. Fuck didn’t realise how lazy I am even tho we’ve been out and about all day and I even went to gym this morning. Of course people know all about me from my posts 🙄🙄🙄

May wasn’t hot anywhere in England. There were a few warm days which were welcome after April being freezing.

Delatron · 22/07/2023 21:56

Here’s your monthly May summary for Cumbria . Most of May was around 15/16 degrees hardly hot. You had 3 days where the temperature maxed out at 20 which probably felt warm for the North. But can’t be described as a hot month.

June was hot. May was very dry.

I have to say I’m really enjoying this summer so far. Much nicer temperatures at low 20’s than the mid 30’s we had last year. I found that unbearable.

Me too. I hate the heat

@pambeeslyhalpert2

some of us haven’t even got low 20s though!

LuckySantangelo35 · 22/07/2023 22:52

@pambeeslyhalpert2

its been 16degrees where I am today - terrible for this time of year

I’m loving the weather today. Can’t wait to get in and get cosy with candles on and a hot cuppa tea.

In JULY?

Seriously?

Not hot, but very dry and around late teens temperatures is a damn sight better than what we have now. I'd take that any day over a weekend that's more or less non stop pissing rain.

Actually, going political, I sort of see this, a thing I didn't appreciate in the past, as a younger person.

The British actually enjoy a low expectation. Bill Bryson noted the excitement a choice of biscuit with afternoon tea would elicit.

Our expectation, our ambition is low. We 'mustn't grumble'. We're educated just about enough not to question; we're suspicious of anything more.

So relentless grey, cold, windy, vitamin-D-less SUMMER weather is just greeted with a shrug, if not happy acceptance.

'Mustn't grumble'.

I wish I felt the joy and elation many obviously feel that cool, grey, marching blustery rainy skies bring, in JULY.

Personally, I wish this lack of 'hoping for better' hadn't stopped me living in SPAIN, in an solar-powered A/C villa could have allowed me.

But, hey! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes it was better. I’m disputing people lumping it in with June as a reason to not be too bothered by this shit weather.

Saying ‘May and June were hot so you’ve had your summer’ why moan now?

May wasn’t hot. June was. May was dry.

Cosy can fuck right off.

Yes it can. How very well said.

YourNameGoesHere · 23/07/2023 07:53

Another day and once again it's pissing it down. I don't even want to open the curtains because I can hear it bouncing off the windows.

SirChenjins · 23/07/2023 10:20

13 degrees here, grey and overcast with drizzle and a breeze. I suppose if you enjoy lying on the sofa for hours on end or wearing waterproofs and traipsing through mud every time you take the dog for a walk and the many Autumn and winter months of the year just aren’t quite enough then this is the weather for you. The lack of vitamin D can do that to some people.

Yes it’s bizarre how some people enjoy lying on the sofa under a blanket for months on end. I’d have to be ill to do that.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 23/07/2023 10:25

There should be a weather law - 18-22 degrees, a few clouds, slight warm breeze and rain at night .

SwanAnn · 23/07/2023 10:34

I'm one of those who likes this cool, wet weather, but as an active person I find it more pleasant to run and exercise in. Those 30 degree days I have to time a run super early morning or late at night. It's just awful conditions for me.

Not to mention the risk of burning!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 23/07/2023 10:36

@SwanAnn apparently on here if you don’t enjoy burning in the heat you’re just lazy 🙄 I also enjoy exercising in cooler weather but apparently I’m lazy because I used the dreaded word cosy after being out in the rain most of yesterday and was looking forward to getting home.
