Taylor Swift - Lead Booker

SavvyMaria · 18/07/2023 11:55

I bought 2 tickets for Taylor Swift in Edinburgh for the Friday night for my daughter and her friend. Paid on my card but tickets are in daughter's name. I bought them via AXS. I now hear it's named as a Lead Booker event and the person who paid for the tickets has to go. We definitely don't want to do that. I don't see anything on the email we were sent confirming purchase. Does anyone know anything about this?

I had a chat with AXS this morning. The Cutomer service agent said it’s the account holder who is the lead Booker not the cc holder. I am in a very weird situation. Our friend booked the tickets for her daughter and bought for us too with his card using our account details as we were busy and had no time to login and wait for the booking. Unfortunately he booked VIP tickets without checking with us 😢 as we were not interested in VIP tickets as we wanted it for our other friends. Now AXS is saying that account holder ks lead Booker but generally it’s the cc holder. I am just so confused whom to believe. Anyone has any confirmed info on this? Any help would be appreciated 🙏🏻

For the many reasons I have stated upthread I don't believe this lead booker thing will be enforceable. I think it's being made a thing now to discourage scalpers from nabbing loads of tickets by saying they won't be able to resell them.

The final European sale, Dublin, is tomorrow, so I would not expect clarity before that sale takes place as they will still want this confusion dissuading scalpers. But I expect after that information making it clear on exactly what the situation will be will be released. It's still 11 months until the shows, no point panicking quite yet.

I think this is right tbh. I've decided I dont have the energy to panic about it anymore(having been very stressed about it on Tuesday night!). I've got 2 tickets for dds, bought in good faith and thats all there is to it. It was defintiely NOT made clear on the ticketmaster website , in fact when you clicked through from the link in your email to access tickets there was no mention of it at all on any of the pages you were directed through (in contrast to the warnings re age restrictions for example on axs which did pop up as aprominent message when clicking through for tickets) so agree I can t see how they can argue it is enforcable. Either way I will have to just deal with whatever happens nearer the time.

If anyone sees updates please can you post them here as I could do with the £ back!

I’ve just seen on twitter that Ticketmaster have removed the lead booker info from their t&cs and I had a good search on their website and it doesn’t say lead booker anywhere for Taylor Swift. Just waiting for a statement to come out so I can make another teenager very happy !!

Chloebear28 · 21/07/2023 08:35

My daughter booked on axs 4 x VIP tickets at a considerable amount of money on someone else’s axs a.c , daughter is the card holder, but the confirmation states the account holder name of the axs account not her. She is devastated to find they may not be able to go and can can’t transfer vip. This is scandalous. How can they inforce this, and also say vip can not be transferred but standard tickets can. How can they spend so much more money and yet have less rights. Disgusting. Can anyone help with this.? We are out of pocket by £1600 as have had to refund her bank account while we sort this out. She can’t exactly take the money from her friends if they have no tickets. If can’t be sorted will have to look at taking legal action.

Chloebear28 · 21/07/2023 08:57

Us too, £1600 worth of vip tickets bought on someone else’s axs account who will not be going but daughter used her card to pay and her and friends are attending.booked on axs which seems to have opposite rule on who lead booked is to Ticketmaster and she didn’t know this until had already booked and paid. She is devastated. This is disgusting and needs to be sorted out now.

I'm not sure AXS have ever said anywhere that The Eras Tour is outright a Lead Booker Event.

As PP said - The Eras Tour is not longer listed on the Lead Booker Event page of TicketMaster which I linked above. This is major as the page states "If your event is not listed on this page, the lead booker does not need to attend in person.".

Also, any mention of it has also been removed from The Eras Tour FAQ, where it was previously....

fuckmyuteruslining · 21/07/2023 10:09

@Chloebear28 it's fine. Completely fine. As others have said AXS never said it was lead booker, Ticketmaster have taken that down. Please reassure your daughter.

christmastreefarm · 21/07/2023 10:21

@fuckmyuteruslining

There are different rules for VIP and I believe they are non transferable.

So the people attending would presumably need to be in the other persons axs account in their phone to be able to gain entry. Which could cause issues with verification texts etc.

FlowersInTheSky · 21/07/2023 10:22

@Chloebear28 You wouldn’t get anywhere with legal action 🤦‍♀️

Your kid shouldn’t have been using someone else’s account.

No but they have said lead booker applies to VIP tickets. People have posted replies on Twitter and I think on here confirming that so AXS are going to need to explicitly say this isn't the case before people can relax.

Chloebear28 · 21/07/2023 10:53

For the vip the things that are part of the package and will be posted isn’t an issue as the address for the axs account is the brother of one of
the girls going. He just won’t be going to the concert. Card holder is
my daughter.

Itwasrare · 21/07/2023 11:11

@Chloebear28 I’m in similar situation. As noted the original booker will get VIP packs but please don’t worry about the tickets. It will be fine. They will likely have to offer refund otherwise and they will never ever do that

ARsMummy21 · 21/07/2023 11:15

Has anyone tried changing the name on the AXS account to see if they can get out of the non-transferable VIP tickets that way?

Chloebear28 · 21/07/2023 11:44

Actually the address in the booking confirmation is also my daughters address so she should
get the vip packs. Just the name
in the actually tickets is not hers.

Chloebear28 · 21/07/2023 11:46

Can get access into the relevant axs account , thats not an issue for the purpose of the tickets. It’s the brother of one of the girls attending. He just won’t be attending himself.

SummaLuvin · 21/07/2023 11:49

Surely you should be able to change the address for the VIP packages closer to the time? I'm not effected at all as I didn't buy VIP tickets, but I'm hoping to move in the next 6-9 months so if I had I would be screwed if you are unable to update postal address. And I certainly won't be alone in that, most uni students move every year for example.

Itwasrare · 21/07/2023 12:07

You can’t change the name either. But I remain convinced it won’t matter

Oopsiedaisyy · 21/07/2023 12:12

I had a panic about this, as we have tickets that I bought off of Stubhub for one of the German shows (we got resold floor tickets at a very good price). However the company that the tickets were sold through in Germany wasn't ticketmaster and they have a system in place so that they allow reselling through approved channels.

I've been following this on Twitter and Reddit. You are correct, it looks like the terms and conditions have been updated (yet again!) yesterday (20th July)
and now doesn't mention anything about the UK Taylor Swift concerts being less booker events.

I think that all sorted then 🤷🏻‍♀️. It be nice to have a statement from Ticketmaster that absolutely confirms it though.

There is a comprehensive Reddit thread on this. Search "UK Ticketmaster Lead Booker Confusion — INFORMATION THREAD"

IdSell · 21/07/2023 12:33

*lead booker

Taylorscat · 21/07/2023 13:31

Ok I’ve told dd she can offer my ticket to her friend , it’s with AXS and the account is in her name anyway just the credit card is mine. Hope this is ok or it’ll be a bit awkward…

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 21/07/2023 13:44

I hope all those who have booked for teenagers under 16 know they have to be accompanied by an over 18 too. If you have tickets for 2 x 15 year olds they can't use them. Fingers crossed everyone can use the tickets they booked as planned . It seems to have been made very complicated with different information

Chloebear28 · 21/07/2023 13:48

Vip address is either our address ( as card holder) anyway or her friends brother who has the axs account so address not an issue. Just name. And daughter and friends are all 21 so no age problem.

The age restrictions vary by venue so if you need to check the terms and conditions of the exact venue

Two 15 years old are fine at London but not fine at cardiff for example.
