Taylor Swift - Lead Booker

I bought 2 tickets for Taylor Swift in Edinburgh for the Friday night for my daughter and her friend. Paid on my card but tickets are in daughter's name. I bought them via AXS. I now hear it's named as a Lead Booker event and the person who paid for the tickets has to go. We definitely don't want to do that. I don't see anything on the email we were sent confirming purchase. Does anyone know anything about this?

I can't see anything on my VIP ticket confirmation about the lead booker needing to be present.
My friend's boyfriend bought our tickets on his credit card.

Could my (male) friend just bring the card or will they want photo ID to back it up. Surely having the card is enough?

I will message AXS tomorrow but am freaking out now.

Taylorscat · 19/07/2023 06:52

AXS seem to be saying nearer the date they will allow the name to be transferred.

I also noticed for Ed Sheeran which was a lead booker, the card holder just had to be there at the gate but not actually go in (although I don’t fancy this for Wembley !)

christmastreefarm · 19/07/2023 07:15

@Taylorscat I especially don't fancy meeting at gate (even though I had considered) as my daughter has standing and wants to queue for about 7 hours minimum.....

@christmastreefarm oh god I’d forgotten that conversation, dd wants to get there about 2/3 hours just to be near the front of the merchandise queue.

christmastreefarm · 19/07/2023 07:29

@Taylorscat

We are going to Liverpool as a family as well as I booked hospitality so we are hoping

A) there is a merch stand outside and we can pop along Friday after we arrive when doors have opened or
B) there is a separate hospitality Merch stand!

There was an outside merch stand for SZA at the o2 last month but I don't know how common it is. Or I can see we might be going up to Wembley the day before. I think she plans to do this anyway and sit outside with her friend.

I have brought tickets through Ticketmaster for Wembley for my daughter and 3 of her friends. This lead booker thing is just not on. If this is enforced I have to tell one of the girls they can't go. I don't want to go ( I went with my daughter a few years ago at Wembley (we were lucky enough to win tickets through sky....I say lucky, my daughter loved it, me less so!) I had thought about changing the name of my Ticket master account over to my daughters name (we don't share the same surname either) sounds like that may ot work though as it seams to be about the tickets matching the name the card was brought in? No way will they be able to thoroughly check all tickets, but its a big risk to take.

Whattheactualwhatnow · 19/07/2023 12:25

Ahhhh. Boyfriend bought tickets for me and daughter using his card not mine, does this mean he’s now taking her not me? Had no idea this was a thing?

TheFlis12345 · 19/07/2023 12:35

AXS have confirmed ticket transfer will only happen close to the events so I imagine Ticketmaster will be the same. Nowhere on the Ticketmaster tickets does it say is is a Lead event and the T&Cs linked have the details of how their ticket transfer works.

SummaLuvin · 19/07/2023 12:41

No way will they be able to thoroughly check all tickets

I wouldn't bank on that, they can. It happens at some events, and it's slower but entirely possible.

However, TicketMaster's own site says about LBE that "If the lead booker has to attend for your event, this will be made clear on our website when you book."- this simply hasn't been the case. You had to look into to T&Cs or the FAQ sections to find this, who is going to do that when you have 5 minutes to check out. Unlike information on age restrictions for entry and standing areas which was obvious and prominent. There's also the fact it was a change between the presale and general sale. So I genuinely don't believe it will stand, but not because of logistics.

Also, the event is 11 months away, there will be 100% clear cut answer far before then.

Taylortrauma · 19/07/2023 15:03

I can't get an answer on this so far. I've been kicked out of 5 live chats today and there's 99+ people waiting each time I join.
I've emailed and can see other people have messaged on twitter

SavvyMaria · 19/07/2023 15:42

I've also tried, but no luck as yet. Really shitty system.

What a mess! But I don’t believe they’ll be able to manage this at the gate if some Tix have been issued under different T&Cs and are not ‘lead booker’ so I believe there will need to be a way to change this? How could they check and enforce different rules for different concert goers!

CatsRebellion · 19/07/2023 17:45

Can I just check, are we talking about parents using their TM / AXS account to book and pay for their teens, so the booking is in the parents name, or are we talking about young people using their own accounts but their parents credit card to pay (so tickets will be in teen's name)?

SummaLuvin · 19/07/2023 17:50

How could they check and enforce different rules for different concert goers!
this is one of the big reasons I'm convinced it won't happen!

@CatsRebellion I believe it is the name on the payment card that matters. This is from TM page linked above "The lead booker is the cardholder for the order – that’s the person named on the card used to pay for the tickets, and is the only name that we take during the checkout process."

CatsRebellion · 19/07/2023 17:54

@SummaLuvin ohhhh ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thank you for clarifying

Taylorscat · 19/07/2023 17:57

It’ll be chaos if the don’t change it or at least email clearly about it . Quite a few of DD’s friends are going in groups of 4, and their parents obvs have no idea . DD is happy for me to go but not sure about her 2 mates ! I’ll def transfer to her if I can

gogomoto · 19/07/2023 18:02

I'm going so it doesn't affect me but checked my confirmation and at no point does it mention the lead booker needing to be there. Ours are standing tickets

allsogreen · 19/07/2023 18:18

I really hope they calrify or resolve this sooner rather than later. I can accompany dds, and happy to be there to show id etc (although that wasnt the original plan, but can do if needed) but it needs to be my two dds going into the concert and not me! How ridiuclous would it be for me to be forced to attend a concert I have no interst in going to when so many people were so desperate to see her and couldnt even get tickets! Not to mention I would never be able to choose which dd didnt get to go in. It was defintiely NOT clear at the time of booking, especially given the pressure everyone was under when booking. Other warnings such as age restriction and ticket number limits did flash up and were lear, but this was definitely made clear at all.

bumpetybumpbump · 19/07/2023 18:20

What a nightmare. Does anyone know what happens if the payment card name is different from booking confirmation name? I gave my code to someone, they used my Ticketmaster but paid for tickets with their own cash card. Presume they just need their own ID?

HumphreysCorner · 19/07/2023 18:43

We've got hospitality and my DD1 booked and used her card as mine wouldn't work so thankfully we are ok. Also found these bits online.

allsogreen · 19/07/2023 18:50

the ironic thing is, currently the 2 tickets I have will be used by very much Taylor Swift fans.(my daughters!) If they impose these rigid rules it will mean one fan will get a ticket, one non fan uninterested 50 year old upset mother will end up with a ticket she doesnt even want, and one true fan will be left distraught. So not exactly ensuring tickets go to genuine fans is it!

KatyLou2407 · 19/07/2023 21:34

Hi, I have booked two tickets for Edinburgh from my husbands account on AXS but I used my card to pay. My booking confirmation came through and it said his name on the order not mine. Is he the lead booker or am I because my name is on the card I paid for the tickets with? I am going to the concert with my daughter but my husband will not be able to come. Nowhere on the booking confirmation does it say my name? I’m stressing!!

GallaBru · 19/07/2023 21:40

Honestly they’re not going to enforce this on the day. The venue teams do not have the time to check every individual as the lead booker - that’s impossible.

This is just a way to put the touts off. ;)

HumphreysCorner · 19/07/2023 21:42

We've just been to Coldplay and along with the sniffer dogs they checked everything. Hope it's different this time.

As far as I understand the lead booker is the credit card owner, not necessarily whose name the tickets are booked under. Think AXS also not imposing lead booker rule so hopefully you're ok. It's the unlucky souls that had to buy through ticketmaster who might be disappointed.
