Taylor Swift - Lead Booker

I bought 2 tickets for Taylor Swift in Edinburgh for the Friday night for my daughter and her friend. Paid on my card but tickets are in daughter's name. I bought them via AXS. I now hear it's named as a Lead Booker event and the person who paid for the tickets has to go. We definitely don't want to do that. I don't see anything on the email we were sent confirming purchase. Does anyone know anything about this?

Ticketmaster in Ireland currently have no lead booker events despite Taylor's Dublin gigs.

I've seen chat snapshots on other social media that transfers within Ticketmaster will be allowed closer to the time.

I went to Coldplay Manchester too and the only time they checked was when I collected my VIP goodies. For Eras these are being collected not posted on the night. They didn’t check anything to enter the stadium. When I went last year to Wembley they definitely didn’t check as I bought mine on twickets!

*for Eras being posted not collected!

Hi, @katyLou2407
Could I ask if your tickets are general or VIP? I’m in the same boat, bought 2 tickets using my card but a friends AXS account. The friend can’t come, it will be me and my husband going. I’m concerned about:
a) not being able to transfer tickets to me because they are VIP. The message you get when you buy the tickets says “you can easily transfer tickets to friends” but I’ve since seen info saying VIP packages are not transferable. I don’t care about all the merch in the package, they can void all of that! I just want to be able to transfer the actual seat. The tickets have not yet been delivered to the app so I can’t check yet whether transfer is possible. This could be a long wait as ticket delivery can take upto 14 days before the event.
b) if transfer isn’t possible, I already have the app on my phone (logged in to my friends account) so I will have the tickets - but what if they want photo ID for the name on the ticket?!

I don’t have any answers I’m afraid (and probably no point asking AXS until they actually release the tickets but any thoughts most welcome!

christmastreefarm · 20/07/2023 08:05

I'm going to wait for it to settle down as I'm sure info will come out at some point.

I suspect there will be 000's of people emailing now and we might not get clear answers.

I'm with AXS so slightly more relaxed to be fair than if I was Ticketmaster.

DumDeeDoh · 20/07/2023 08:08

I can't imagine the people checking the tickets for 1000s of people will be interested in looking at ids also! If the ticket is valid you will get in.

LizzoBorden · 20/07/2023 08:15

@RCandme im in the same boat! Have been v nonchalant about it all, have the £££ VIP tickets for me and my daughter - and have just realised we used dh’s card but my AXS account. I’ll have the payment card and ID for both him and me, we share the same surname, but getting increasingly stressed about it

Even if you have ID and the card, if it’s his card and he isn’t there and they check, there won’t be anything they can do and they won’t let you in.

The chances they will check are slim, but it’s a risk you’re going to have to take.

RCandme · 20/07/2023 08:30

Thank you for your replies to me. I agree, no point following up now as AXS will be coping with all the queries about the actual ticket sale. The ID check of the ticket name (rather than lead booker - that’s me and I will be there) remains my main concern.

@LizzoBorden i think you will be fine if AXS don’t implement the same “lead booker” policy as Ticketmaster as the tickets will be in your name and you will be there. I’m in the opposite situation - credit card is in my name, but tickets will have a different name of someone who can’t be there. So all depends on the ID checking process.

LizzoBorden · 20/07/2023 08:41

I might just buy some ID in my husbands name 😂

it's very feasible that they can check tickets and ID the lead booker of each group if they want to. The same way they check tickets for each person entering and scan/search all bags - if something matters to the venue they find the time.

ARsMummy21 · 20/07/2023 12:13

Hi Lovely, I have just spoken to AXS via live chat and they have confirmed the AXS account holder is the lead booker and not the card payer, I will attach a screenshot. It's a shame as we were wanting to use my friend's account and my bank details to pay (she got two codes and we got none) to buy tickets but only VIP are available and they're non transferable :( it seems Ticketmaster have the opposite rule.

Taylorscat · 20/07/2023 12:50

But because that’s the opposite of Ticketmaster, that worries me ! I can’t see how the ticket staff will differentiate .

Taylorscat · 20/07/2023 12:50

My tickets are in DD’s axs account and in my credit card name .

RCandme · 20/07/2023 13:03

Are both you and your daughter going to the concert together @Taylorscat ? If so, you’ll be fine either way as the tickets will be in her name but you will be there as well as the credit card holder.

KatyLou2407 · 20/07/2023 13:06

I’m in exactly the same boat as you. Used my husbands AXS account to buy the VIP tickets but used my card to pay. I thought it would be like ticket master that the main booker was the one that paid?!? There is no way he can come to the concert with us. From everything I have now read- the lead booker on AXS is the account holder and not who bought the tickets!!!!! I’m so stressed they won’t let me and my daughter in. I can’t afford to buy any more tickets and it will break her heart if we can’t go.

Fizbosshoes · 20/07/2023 13:09

We had the same- I booked 3 tickets with DDs presale code and TM account using my credit card. Lead booker wasn't mentioned at the time of booking or in the confirmation email so I think it has been done retrospectively.
Tickers have already been on resale sites but its not incomprehensible that teens won't have enough money to buy multiple tickets but will all want to sit/go together.
I like Taylor swift but I'm not that mad about going I'd rather DDs friend had the ticket and I had the money!!

namerandom · 20/07/2023 13:11

I contacted AXS re our VIP tickets and I was also told that lead booker is the account holder not the payer . We used my daughter’s account but my PayPal. With paypal not sure how they could have checked that anyway !
so seems TM and AXS hsve totally different policies as to what constitutes a lead booker. What would make most sense is to have one or either so either in your name and/or you are the person that paid . Although that wouldn’t help those who are gifting tickets but would simplify it for most .

Fizbosshoes · 20/07/2023 13:12

This is my tm email when I queried it

Taylor Swift - Lead Booker
RCandme · 20/07/2023 13:20

Hi @KatyLou2407
you are in exactly the same position as me (I’m the payer and will be going but the AXS ticket holder will not be attending). I will have the tickets on my phone (as my friend is willing for me to have access) but if there is an ID check on this I’m in trouble.

I don’t plan to contact AXS yet, will let the dust settle on the all the “lead booker” fiasco but do plan to in the near future. If you would like to PM me perhaps we can keep in touch and compare notes with any advice from AXS.

fuckmyuteruslining · 20/07/2023 13:35

I think it's best to just wait on events. I'm going anyway but it certainly was not stated that it was a lead booker event when I bought my TM tickets in the midnights code sale. I think this is to deter touts and some thing will be implemented to do transfers. They know a lot of her fan base don't have funds/cards. It's nearly a year away. Don't waste energy worrying now.

I agree with this. This will be resolved somehow, TM are well aware of the issue and it’s being covered by the press so it doesn’t also need my mental energy.

I’d like to give my ticket to one of her friends ideally, as myself and dd are seeing another European leg, I really don’t need to see her twice and would rather have the ££ back!

Some people can't wait though because other people are expecting to attend, might have paid for their tickets and hotels to find out they can't go if the cardholder has to!

Hopefully the AXS message below clarifies it for their customers but not Ticketmaster.
