Would you apply for a job that you morally disagree with in my situation?

Was made redundant not long ago. I'm a single mum, living in rented accommodation. Don't have a huge amount of savings and I'm now having to claim full UC and JSA. DS is 15 so childcare is not an issue, I'm applying for anything and everything that's suitable as I really don't want to be out of work for long. I've got no qualifications or specialist knowledge, I was a lone parent by 18 and have always worked whatever fit around DS, so I can't really afford to be fussy and the market is tough right now.

I have my CV up on various job sites and had a message from somebody who likes my CV and has invited me to apply for a job. The money is probably better than anything I'd get elsewhere but I'm not sure if I could do a job where I morally disagree with some of the fundamentals (it is a charity but there is a religious element to the organisation without being too outing) I am not religious and don't really agree with the notion of organised religion.

Would you apply?

Socialists aren't soft hearted. They are just as bitter and unpleasant as other political types

The people who welcome this are not actually part of the church. The Bishops are trying to appease the media and non-Christians. They don't care about their own clergy and congregations. The House of Clergy are disproportionately opposed to certain agendas that the House of Bishops are trying to bring in. The way the Bishops are trying to bring in such agendas is undemocratic and uncaring toward its own flock.

How do you know the people welcoming it aren't part of the church?

Apply, I f you get it look at it as short term until something else comes along. You may be surprised and find that actually the part you don’t agree with doesn’t come into it enough to be an issue. I’m not religious so I can see where you are coming from but supporting yourself and child is the important part. You can always keep applying for other jobs even if get this one

I work for a SEN school, and have SEN children. I don’t like the way staff spk to the children or their bullying tactics, and will not return in September unless I can’t find anything else . It frustrates me and makes me sad working there. Kids are fab, staff/majority of staff, are control freaks . I feel your pain

Interesting question

How do veggies feel about working in working in a burger bar or somewhere that predominantly sells meat ? Is it wrong to expect a vegetarian to work somewhere like That?

Oh that’s so sad. I worked in an SEN school and almost all the staff were really committed to the children and finding what worked for them. Please go and work for a better school. I’m sure your skills and personal experience would be really valuable.

Well it didn't matter in the end as I've been offered a job elsewhere thankfully.
