Taylor Swift Eras Tour Ticket Swap

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 10/07/2023 14:34

Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere else. I wondered if we could set up a list thread for potential ticket swaps!

I have just bought 4 tickets for Edinburgh on the 7th June 2024, obviously I wouldn’t have bought them if I wasn’t happy to travel but I am in the South and any other UK stadium would be more convenient. Posting on the off chance that someone has done similar, but for another venue and Edinburgh would be preferable for them. I know it is early days for ticket sales, but putting it out there for anyone interested.

I would need to check how to do the swap above board so that both parties are covered. Potentially, we “sell” to each other via an official resale site?

Hope you've read now that Ticketmaster will organise official swapping nearer the time... this happened routinely throughout US tour.

If that's true it's going to help stop lots of people from getting scammed. As has been mentioned a million times on this thread it's not safe to 'swap' tickets with random people on the internet.

My son has 2 standing at Edinburgh 7th June looking to swap as we now have a family wedding

Oh wow do we know this for sure? If so I can relax and stop trying to find a million ways to get back and to Wembley from a wedding in another country by 4pm!! 🥴

RHM77 · 21/01/2024 16:34

don't panic! There is a ticket master organised swap system coming soon. Everyone will be able to safely swap all tickets.

Where have you seen this? I can't find any reference to it.

chrisaaaaa · 22/01/2024 22:30

Ticketmaster mention swap two ways, one to swap your ticket for one of higher value at the same gig. The other is just another way of saying transfer.

It would be great if they did offer a swap system, that was open long enough to swap between June an August, and even work with AXS, but I can see no sign of it.

But I do not see the problem, doing business with people you have no reason to trust is not a new thing, ever bought a house?

There are escrow companies who do this sort of thing all the time.

What I’ve ended up doing is selling my tickets for a ridiculously high price on Viagogo (still the cheapest Taylor Swift tickets on the site though) which has enabled me to buy equally overpriced equivalent tickets for an August date. Fingers crossed I haven’t been scammed but it seems they have an insurance policy which covers that type of thing. It’s a shame as I would have happily swapped for face value had the option been available, but couldn’t risk waiting until closer to the summer due to hotel prices etc.

Crispsandwichrock · 23/01/2024 11:19

Chrisaaa I used a solicitor when I bought my house, not mumsnet!

if this is true then that might have been incredibly unwise and the tickets you both sold and bought could be cancelled then resold, see below from the Ticketmaster Eras Tour FAQ

How Can I Resell My Tickets?

Ticketholders are able to resell their tickets via the official resale facilities provided by the official ticket agents, being Ticketmaster and AXS in the UK.

Ticketholders can resell any or all of their tickets, including the lead booker ticket.

Through the official resale facilities, ticket resale prices are capped to help combat the inflation of ticket prices and put a stop to ticket touting and bots.

Purchasing tickets via the official resale facilities also ensures that the ticket you are purchasing is genuine. As set out in the terms and conditions of sale, any tickets found to be purchased via resale on the non-official secondary market will not be valid for entry into the concerts and will be cancelled. Therefore, we strongly advise that you sell and purchase your tickets via the official ticket agents.

I’m aware of that policy but as I said above, they do not have any facility in place in order for swaps to be made via Ticketmaster. There isn’t a way of them being able to tell how you sold the tickets anyway as you just enter the email of the person you are transferring to once the tickets are available on the app, so as far as they are aware you could be transferring you a daughter, friend etc. I suppose if they were actively looking for tickets being sold on other sites and cancelling them it might be a risk but that hasn’t happened in this case.

Likewise - the solicitor hold the deposit in escrow.

A simple google will find you various escrow services.
eg https://transpact.com/ but there others.

My interest is to swap 4 June tickets for August, I believe this would be outside the AXS swap window so it would have to be a linked transaction with a deposit held in escrow to ensure the linked transactions take place.

I have 2 tickets for Dublin on the 29th of June looking to swap for any other venue as can no longer make it to Dublin

JaideJ · 31/01/2024 21:44

Hello!

I have two standing tickets for London - Friday 21st June that I’m desperately hoping to swap for 2 Edinburgh tickets on the Friday night! Happy to discuss further if anyone is interested in this swap.

thanks

Be careful about agreeing to send your tickets to some random person on the internet if the event before they have sent you yours. Unless you use an escrow service you would just have to hope they were trustworthy and reliable. It's too big of a gamble if you ask me. Scammers are going to pose as genuine individuals who want to swap tickets then, once they get sent the tickets will sell them on or use them but won't send any tickets themselves.

ChazzyB · 05/02/2024 01:02

Hi. would you consider 19th August. I have 3x tickets in front right standing (14+ only).
would love to swap. Our tickets are £150 each. Might be happy to swap.

RHM77 · 05/02/2024 07:35

Nearer the time they say the transfer option will open up. In the states this was a big deal and helped many with this issue of safely swapping

Question as to whether that opens up reseller options. Desperate to buy either 3 or 4 tickets for any U.K. date. We were on the pre-sale registration thing but never got a code.

I don’t trust stubhub or viagogo but has anyone got thoughts on those? I get you would get a refund from those sites if you can’t get in, which sounds likely, but I can’t imagine the disappointment for my two children of turning up to be refused admission.

What are the realistic options? I can’t afford the silly money of £500 plus per ticket (I’d pay £250 per ticket which is already silly money to be honest). So many tickets offered on Stubhub/Viagogo from “trade” sellers, I just don’t understand how they got them.

I think my children just will have to keep watching the movie but I’m disappointed for them.

WeCouldLooseThis · 05/02/2024 09:13

@RHM77 All that swapping means is that you can forward your tickets to someone else. It doesn't guarantee the other person will forward them back.

WeCouldLooseThis · 05/02/2024 09:14

The only safe way to buy is through Ticketmaster etc.

Using an escrow service might work

SummaLuvin · 05/02/2024 10:24

@RHM77 All that swapping means is that you can forward your tickets to someone else. It doesn't guarantee the other person will forward them back.

exactly, the transfer is more for groups like mine so I can send the other two girls their tickets on the day. Or for situations where a parent has bought on behalf of a child and their friends. And yes, hypothetically two strangers could swap this way, but it is not without risks of one party reneging or perhaps never having tickets to start with.

What are the realistic options?
@Offredsrevenge you have 2. (maybe also escrow but I know nothing about this process)

1 - If you know someone trustworthy who bought tickets and now can't use them you could arrange for them to sell them to you, you transferring money and them tickets. You need to be able to trust them as they won't be available to transfer until potentially 3 days before. Make sure all your friends and family know you are after them so you can be their first port of call if any of them with tickets they have a change of plans, though still be wary and don't do deals with friends of friends only people you actually know and trust.

2 - Buy from the official resale platforms which are Ticketmaster and AXS. Keep checking and checking and checking as people will resell their tickets in dribs and drabs. They are expensive because the Eras Tour is expensive, there were a significant number of pricy packages not just face value tickets, but on official resale the prices are capped so shouldn't be wildly more than what they were in the initial sale.

WeCouldLooseThis · 05/02/2024 11:22

People are going to get scammed like crazy over these tickets. People are desperate to get their hands on tickets and that makes life easy for the scammers
I bet some of the posters on this thread are scammers and there will be no way knowing

HelKempo · 05/02/2024 14:25

I totally agree. It’s madness. It is however really frustrating that there isn’t a legit way to exchange tickets. I have 4 for London and can’t attend that day and need to swap for the Friday in London. How can I do it?
