Could we PLEASE have a thread that stays up?

Meaning don't name anyone, or any programme or ask for initials or hint.

I just would like to discuss how this is likely to unfold.

Photo of suspect with trousers around his ankles 😣..was do hoping it wasnt him

What, with his face visible?

Where i sthe photo?

EasterIssland · 09/07/2023 22:07

Take care with what you believe related with photos. AI can make photos that aren’t real look real. Don’t trust everything you see.

Gagaandgag · 09/07/2023 22:08

Glad it isn’t Clive, he’s presenting now. But it must be hard for him if it’s his mate…

gemstoneju · 09/07/2023 22:09

ConstanceWorry · 09/07/2023 21:55

There's a certain person who's name is all over social media etc as being the one. The fact he has not issued a statement deny it IS VERY TELLING

Maybe he's taken legal advice. As in, let's quietly screenshot and gather these posts, and have a field day when the culprit is finally announced? I bloody would.

OMG12 · 09/07/2023 22:10

Lucy Manning has just said on BBC that the photos were taken when he was between 17-18 and therefore would seem the victim was male.

Namechangey23 · 09/07/2023 22:10

Is the photo even verified though? So easy to get AI to fake photos nowadays...! Or someone who is good with Photoshop. I'm still suspicious. Just can't believe he would do that. It's a lot to risk if it were true.

Ontheroadyetagain · 09/07/2023 22:11

its nit who I thought it was if the photos are real…I’ve not seen them mind

Worth keeping in mind that loads of presenters haven’t issued statements

lljkk · 09/07/2023 22:11

I don't peer-bond over someone else's misfortune ... or moaning ... or hating anyone or anything. I find any of that very depressing.

My only interest in this is my ever increasing suspicion that the accusation is exaggerated / false / misinformed and the lemming-like way that people are so enthusiastic in wanting to believe it. That soap opera has my attention. If the allegations are as unpleasant as the mother seems to believe/reported in Sun, then they are just plain sad & I don't want to know anything more about them: it would add nothing to my life to know anything more about it.

Exactly this! Someone showed me how you can literally type in what you want to appear on your photo and it does it!!! I'd hate to be a celebrity in this age!

VisionsOfSplendour · 09/07/2023 22:13

So, BBC news reporter saying he when describing the youth

Why is she not so well informed as the posters who know it's she?

Curiouscarla · 09/07/2023 22:14

Also a lot of posters who keep asking who it is are all new accounts. It's as if evidence is being gathered. Be careful.

MrsMcisaCt · 09/07/2023 22:15

The photo looks fake to me.

Mummytolittleones92 · 09/07/2023 22:16

IClaudine · 09/07/2023 21:19

Indeed. And how do we know the Sun story is not bollocks too? It has form for outrageous lies.

I would suggest that the meetings between the culture secretary, the head of the BBC & a subsequent suspension of a presenter (plus now police involvement) would suggest that the story isn’t bollocks.

Oioicaptain · 09/07/2023 22:17

I don't understand the criticism of the mother's actions here. She is trying to save her child's life here. Someone has taken advantage of her child's age/youth and exploited their vulnerability for their own seedy aims. If the person is indeed the person plastered over the internet, there is a 40+ year age gap. If I were in the mother's position I would do exactly the same! Of course there will be fall out from it, but the mother has far more information than we do and is seeking to save her child from dying. This individual is enabling their habit. They don't care whether that child is an addict or vulnerable or not. He/She is just a commodity to them!

Tawstrong · 09/07/2023 22:20

Don’t trust the photo- anyone could AI that. Wait for the experts to collect and assess the evidence before casting aspersions.

Otherwise it’s a very dangerous road we’re heading down with Russia and other dark forces wanting to undermine our democracy and public life, with powerful AI tools and deep tech at their disposal.

Well said.

So sad. That poor mother.

mumyes · 09/07/2023 22:21

The Sun may be a shit paper, and the media full of scum bags, but I do believe they would properly check this type of thing.

Normal stories, probably not though.

Sunnyfunnytimes · 09/07/2023 22:21

I’d be very surprised if that pic is real..

mumyes · 09/07/2023 22:22

So you have to login to Tattle to view the pic?

hobbledyhoy · 09/07/2023 22:23

It may well be true but I wouldn't trust that photo that is doing the rounds. Photos and videos don't equate to evidence these days.

bellac11 · 09/07/2023 22:24

Well Ive seen the picture

Its got french writing at the top, why would that be?

Im not entirely convinced its genuine. Its very odd if it is.

Tawstrong · 09/07/2023 22:25

Ps. Not saying THIS story is not genuine or concerning - I’m just saying we need to let the authorities follow due process and stop sharing stuff on the internet that we can’t possibly know is genuine (like photos).

It’s very irresponsible and dangerous precedent when we are facing threats from those that want to spread misinformation to undermine us.

Going to The Sun newspaper is so far down the list of things I would do to help my child in that situation it’s untrue. I can’t imagine living in a world where that would even cross someone’s mind as a potential course of action.

It’s like throwing a bomb into the middle of the situation while shouting “fuck everything” and then just waiting to see what chaos unfolds and who gets destroyed in the process (and I’m very much thinking of the young person involved being one of the most at risk).

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 09/07/2023 22:32

Real or otherwise my life is a little more sullied after seeing that picture.
