Who do you think is the BBC presenter who has been suspended?

I don't have twitter and haven't seen any theories as to who it is, I'm presuming a man due to the figure outline being used in the press:

Oh my god to the posters discussing a picture of- as far as we know- an innocent person. Shame on you thinking you’ve seen a legitimate picture and then talking about someone so flippantly, ‘my DH has a bum like that’ oh do grow up, perhaps imagine if it was your DH being published everywhere, how you might be feeling, as his wife and family will be. The family lives of the presenter-when and if confirmed- will be completely blown up by all of this, particularly the children.

How nasty must people be in IRL to get gossipy thrills from these posts?

Completely agree. They’re just allegations at this point, and they don’t seem to be adding up. There’s something very off about the story. As far as I’m aware, as of yet, we have seen no actual evidence of anything.

@Sunnydays41 So does the mother think her child was blackmailing the presenter?

In that case I can understand why she wouldn't want the police involved, because can't her child get charged for a crime now?

That's not what has been reported. Just a theory, which is actually probably incorrect reading back as the mother has said the money was in exchange for images. Regardless though, now it is in the open, it's not going to be able to continue, which is what the mother wanted in the first place.

Perhaps she thought that the police wouldn't be interested. Maybe she was unclear on the law and thought it wasn't illegal (if the child was indeed 17 when it first started).

Surgicalnightmare · 10/07/2023 11:39

The BBC are focusing heavily on the legalities of speculation across social media. It makes me wonder if the common name that's in the press isn't the guy but actually there is someone else

placemats · 10/07/2023 11:40

Did anyone watch Countryfile last night? Was all a bit weird with repeat infills and a clumsy link to the weather for the week ahead.

I've no clue who the person is and yes, I've seen the photo.

The BBC should just stop all the speculation and name the person they have suspended - the latter being made very public, if only to take the heat of other presenters.

Well perhaps "most" other halves don't send half naked photos to 17 year old boys🙄🤦‍♀️

Technically, they could be charged for even sending the images as it is an offence to share indecent images of a child even if you are the child but it's unlikely that would happen.

A blackmail charge would require evidence of blackmail like text messages indicating that.

But if I think a celebrity who had their marriage, career and public status to lose; probably wouldn't need to be directly blackmailed by being threatened with exposure by a drug addict. Just the fact they could bring their world crashing down if they chose to would be enough to scare them into sending money I imagine.

35k is a lot of money to pay for some explicit photos if you ask me. It is very possible knowing crack addicts, that they just kept pestering for more and more money as the celebrity knew they were over a barrel.

We don’t know that is what’s happened though, that’s the point. It’s an allegation. 🤦‍♀️

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 10/07/2023 11:55

I've had a couple of nights to sleep on this and it all seems a bit weird.

Mum says;
DC has been sent £35k over three years
DC takes crack
Dodgy pictures of DC (the sort that could be used to blackmail DC)
Bank payments linked to celebrity name

The first three on their own would make most people think County Lines.
If you were a big wig county lines dealer sending money to a minion, would you tag the money with; your real name, "Ya bestie dealer" or random celeb?

Then again it could be true, everyone at the BBC knows, because they have known for ages, because the BBC is still good at almost encouraging these things?

Who knows? Hence an investigation is needed.

Frankola · 10/07/2023 11:57

@JeftHeft I agree. It does make you wonder how many/what images were exchanged for 35k in payments.

Being brutally honest, it's not like the presenter didn't have the option to go on OnlyFans and get similar content? That place is a cesspit of this kind of stuff.

Surgicalnightmare · 10/07/2023 12:09

To people asking for the person to be named to end the speculation. Would you like it it accusations of this severity were made to your employer and your bosses decided to spread your details across social media without a full investigation being carried out and concluded? Or would you expect your employer to support you through it and keep your anonymity until the end?

Bearing in mind how many times this and similar rational question / comments have been put on these threads over the last three days, the answer is yes. It is starnge how those screaming the loudest for "justice" have no idea what the word means.

justasking111 · 10/07/2023 12:58

OH said that the picture had appeared on a local FB page this morning. Wiser heads said take it down. Apparently it's been deleted.

BeverleyMacker · 10/07/2023 12:59

A certain name has supposedly removed BBC from their twitter bio,but was it even there in the first place? Anyone know?

It wasn’t there a few days ago. I don’t think BBC has been removed within the past three days at least.

Nooooo!!!!! If it's John Craven....my childhood was a lie....

Tbf, that describes Countryfile every week. It can be improved by playing the ‘Adam Mentions His Dad’ Drinking Game, however.

Tighginn · 10/07/2023 13:38

An ex blue peter, they already have one enormous badjin.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 10/07/2023 13:46

Surprised at some comments, the scandal involving the Catholic priests and others are going on under people's noses. Just because someone is associated with sombre events & Christian values through work doesn't preclude them from mental health issues. That's not to say it's all fine but 'Only Fans' can charge £10 for video footage so on a large salary could easily rack up 35K in 3 years. How do we know the presenter knew the person was 17. Surely O-Fans would have an '18' cut off since its illegal to distribute indecent images of an under 18 (including the participant). How would this be spoken of if it was a known letch 60 year old BBC presenter and a 17 year old female O-Fans participant?

Twonewcats · 10/07/2023 13:46

I can't quite work out why the bbc are being vilified so much in this. They have said they had asked for info from the mum, and it wasnt forthcoming. Then they went to the Sun.
Unless this was all happening during work hours, surely passing the info to the police is what should be done - which they have done

If someone made these accusations about me and they were totally untrue, I would be shouting it from the rooftops.

Twonewcats · 10/07/2023 13:48

And people saying the BBC should name and shame someone are mainly the same people who went mad when the BBC named Cliff Richard 😒

Cliff, I think miscarriage of justice, creeps me out.

BBC Presenters, not necessarily employees. Big difference in terms of how the BBC are obviously managing this.
