No it isn't - two threads doing exactly that have rightly been deleted already. It is nasty in the extreme to be bandying around names or "hints" with no evidence. You will find out in due course and can put the boot in then.

I wonder how many MN speculators on every salacious news story they can find would like to the the victim of the bullying that they randomly dish out anonymously on these threads?

A BBC spokesperson said: "We treat any allegations very seriously and we have processes in place to proactively deal with them.
"As part of that, if we receive information that requires further investigation or examination we will take steps to do this. That includes actively attempting to speak to those who have contacted us in order to seek further detail and understanding of the situation.
"If we get no reply to our attempts or receive no further contact that can limit our ability to progress things but it does not mean our enquiries stop.
"If, at any point, new information comes to light or is provided - including via newspapers - this will be acted upon appropriately, in line with internal processes."

This seems to suggest that the complainant has not been forthcoming with information.

I would keep an open mind on this one for the moment.

Often in the past news stories like this have come along describing someone as a major star, household name etc, and when the name eventually leaks out it turns out to be the chap who sometimes reads the Midnight News Round-up on BBC24 when everyone else is off.

Forget about speculation about who it is, the questions we should be asking is what we think the BBC is going to do? Their reputation has already been tarnished with how Jimmy Savile and other cases were dealt with or not. We pay the BBC millions in a licence fee we must pay regardless if we use their services. Is yet another scandal going to be one of the final nails in the coffin for them or will it be swept under the carpet?
