I don't have twitter and haven't seen any theories as to who it is, I'm presuming a man due to the figure outline being used in the press:

Will certain members crow on here if the speculation results in a suicide?

Have a look at Katie Hopkins' TikTok

Vile woman, exploiting, digusting, foul face ..........

I can't quite work out why the bbc are being vilified so much in this. They have said they had asked for info from the mum, and it wasnt forthcoming. Then they went to the Sun.
Unless this was all happening during work hours, surely passing the info to the police is what should be done - which they have done

Because the owners of the Sun have it in for the Beeb?

It's the BBC who went to the police with the allegations, not the Sun or the alleged victim's mother. You can draw your own conclusions as to why that was the case. If it turns out a crime has been committed then the perpetrator should be convicted in court. This trial by social media is abhorrent. How would you feel if you were suspended from work in response to an unproven allegation and all your colleagues were told, never mind the public?

they went to the police AFTER it was reported in the press. Not in the preceding weeks.

Frankola · 10/07/2023 11:16

Is nobody a bit suss about the mothers behaviour? She didn't even go to the police?

She may have gone to the police but as the person sending the photos is now an adult it would be down to them to report it. They very possibly wouldnt want to report it as its been a consensual arrangement. If they deny any photos were sent when they were 17 and and when they were 18 were consensual the police are pretty much stuck

The other thing that might have prevented her going to police is if her son sent photos when he was 17 then he's committed an offence. Taking & distributing indecent photos of a minor is an offence even if they're photos you've taken. Something a lot of teens don't realise when they send photos

If she's aware of this & despite going to the BBC nothings been done she might have felt going public was her only option

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/07/2023 14:29

@Superfood they've said they were made aware of a complaint in May and that they went to the police when new allegations of a different nature were made to them last Thursday. Seems sensible to me.

What, doing nothing at all for two months "seems sensible" to you?

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/07/2023 14:33

Yes. They went to the police when new allegations of a different nature were made to them. We can guess what the new allegations were because the Sun have published them. We do not know what the complaint made in May was.

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/07/2023 14:36

Also @Superfood you cannot say they did "nothing for two months". They started an investigation and have said they contacted the mother for more information, which was not forthcoming.

Just because something is plastered all over social media does not make it true.

Twobyfour · 10/07/2023 14:39

An acquaintance who has “metal health challenges” amuses themselves by sending random messages about celebs to various media outlets (as well as posting on SM). They can’t be the only person doing this and if these media outlets did “full and thorough” investigations on every message that comes their way then they wouldn’t have any time to actually produce any content!

Rupert Murdoch wants to weaken the BBC. Amazing how the Sun is now the arbiter of morality!

CurlewKate · 10/07/2023 14:40

It's certainly taken everyone's minds off The Email......

HokusaiWave · 10/07/2023 14:45

If you remove one detail - that the arrangement started when the younger person was 17 - then the whole story reported as what the mum said becomes something neither the police nor the BBC could do much about. There was no offence.
The mum (quite rightly) wanted the kid to stop taking drugs She set out to do that by cutting off his income. But (as long as it’s legal), it’s none of the BBC’s business how its employees spend their pay. And it was not up to the older person how the younger one spent his income. (Though of course there was an offence for the boy, in taking the drugs.)

If the BBC learned that one detail only recently, when The Sun published its claims, it all makes sense.

Pfft. Well that’s a very dubious “hobby” of theirs.
What came of their dodgy tip-offs?

Actually, I've been waiting for the "the BBC is a blind" and it's Meghan Markle thread....

Twobyfour · 10/07/2023 15:15

@Thebigblueballoon

I don’t know what became of their “tip-offs” as they tried to drag me and others into it so I distanced myself, as I didn’t agree with them and didn’t want to get sued.

I do know however their freelance work for the BBC has dried up!

the80sweregreat · 10/07/2023 15:35

That photo, so hard to know what's fake or what isn't.
I feel for those who are innocent. Must have been a weary long weekend for them :(
It's all so sad and I hope the victim in all this is receiving some help with their addiction problems.

No. In no capacity whatsoever do I work for nor have I ever worked for the BBC.

You are doing a blinding one woman job of proving my point that supposition, conjecture and continually repeating something do not make it fact. You need to improve your reading comprehension of what the Sun and the BBC have actually stated and stop believing the crap you read without employing a little critical thinking.

Indeed. We don't really know anything at this point. The mum could have approached the BBC in May and said "your employee is sending my adult child money for explicit content on Only Fans". That may be morally questionable but it's not illegal and not something an employer would likely get involved with.

If the "new information" that has come to light after the mum went to The Sun was that this started when her child was 17 then that changes things and may be why the BBC has suddenly acted.

This is all speculation of course, as I said we simply do not know at the moment.

Superfood · 10/07/2023 16:48

Right. I didn't think you did.

So when you said "they've been conducting an investigation", of which there is absolutely zero evidence, and during which period of supposed "investigation" they continued to employ and promote this man, and did not suspend him or take any action at all, and he continued to pay money to this young person to feed their drug addiction, and the only action taken was once the mother went to the press, you were, in fact, just making up bollocks with no knowledge whatsoever.

Thanks for confirming. 👍

The "Beeb" would never cover up for a powerful nonce, would they.

Stuart Hall was also jailed.

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/07/2023 17:16

Thank goodness @Superfood you are clearly not employed in HR or the police.

  1. We don't know what the original complaint was
  2. You don't suspend someone simply on the basis of a complaint, which we don't know the details of
  3. Clearly an investigation was started as the complainant, the mother, was contacted for more information
  4. Times have changed and the current events and circumstances are not evidence of the BBC covering up for a nonce
  5. Those pictures you've posted could be triggering so I've reported your post
  6. I am merely countering your poorly constructed argument with the facts the Sun and the BBC have stated
  7. The only bollocks is what you are posting on this thread
