Who do you think is the BBC presenter who has been suspended?

I don't have twitter and haven't seen any theories as to who it is, I'm presuming a man due to the figure outline being used in the press:

I doubt this will all blow over quickly.
this could be the bbc 's downfall. Especially if it's discovered that people knew all along , more cover ups, not investigating it quickly enough the list is endless.

MermaidEyes · 10/07/2023 10:16

It's also a bit crackers to think that they'd send a pic of themselves at their BBC work desk as is claimed. That too may also be faked.

It was the mother who said she saw that picture, he'd sent it to her child so presumably that one is real.

I'm waiting to see what Jeremy Vine says at 12. He is definitely on the war path. I really think he is going to take legal action. I wouldn't want to be those Mumsnetters. Who used his name.

Good. Everyone who is defamed should be on the warpath.

The problem with that photo is that it looks real. So we can't trust anything we see now as deep fake and AI technology has pretty much advanced to the point where this kind of stuff is going to become a regular occurance and a single AI image can ruin someone.

What's that saying about a lie going round the world twice before the truth has even woken up (or something!). A photo will stick in people's minds more than the denial, and there'll always be doubts no matter what.

@ThisWOMANWontWheesht

I don't think we have the same photo!!!!

the80sweregreat · 10/07/2023 10:17

They Obviously thought that money would keep them quiet 🤫

DontBeSillyBridget · 10/07/2023 10:18

Ignore me - we do! He looks very smart though?

DontBeSillyBridget · 10/07/2023 10:20

Those legs and bum don't look like a 60 year old man?

I think it's fake.

BishopRock · 10/07/2023 10:20

ConstanceWorry · 10/07/2023 09:31

Makes you wonder how many other "national treasures" are living double lives. Protected by the elite....

I think it was David Walliams who did a documentary on that, or perhaps I'm confusing him for someone else.

medianewbie · 10/07/2023 10:22

ThreeRingCircus · 10/07/2023 09:34

The photo cannot be real...... surely he would not be that stupid?

I've not looked at any photo so cannot comment on this particular one. But, yes, people in powerful positions could indeed be 'that stupid'. The risk is a big part of what they 'get off' on, sadly.

I can certainly believe that the parent was getting nowhere with the BBC or the Police either. As for 'motives'. People who expose abusive behaviour are often quiered pejoratively re their 'motives'. Perhaps Justice should be done, & be seen to be done, so this scanario is less likely to occur in future (pigs might fly but we can hope ...)

Why would you presume it was real? It may be a fake that was sent to the child.

Surely there's only one!! 😲😲😅

The bed is to the right of him in the pic I saw.

And as for your comments about 60 year old bums... DH is 59 and has gorgeous legs and bum!

NeedToThinkOfOne · 10/07/2023 10:45

Oh my god to the posters discussing a picture of- as far as we know- an innocent person. Shame on you thinking you’ve seen a legitimate picture and then talking about someone so flippantly, ‘my DH has a bum like that’ oh do grow up, perhaps imagine if it was your DH being published everywhere, how you might be feeling, as his wife and family will be. The family lives of the presenter-when and if confirmed- will be completely blown up by all of this, particularly the children.

How nasty must people be in IRL to get gossipy thrills from these posts?

monsteramunch · 10/07/2023 11:00

I would think that the photo in question falls under the 'revenge porn' (hate that term) law so people need to be very, very careful about sharing it.

I’ve read an online newspaper today too- should I not do that?

It was me who mentioned my DH; I've also said on this and another thread that the photo in question is undoubtedly FAKE (as may well be other pictures referred to in The Sun's report) that's why it's so ridiculous and risible.
It's also my opinion that the whole accusation may not be as painted, and the person may be innocent/framed.

It's also my opinion that a 60 year old can have a nice bum.

Frankola · 10/07/2023 11:16

Is nobody a bit suss about the mothers behaviour? She didn't even go to the police?

HokusaiWave · 10/07/2023 11:19

How nasty must people be in IRL …”

That threw me for a while. What had the poster got against the Irish?? 😆

BishopRock · 10/07/2023 11:20

Reading a paper is a bit different to actively coming to a thread about it and posting on it, then criticising others for posting. The only thread police are the Mumsnet mods.

No not really.

There are many reasons she may have avoided the police. Or maybe she did go. You don't know yet and neither do I.

I do know however that I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing alleged & proven victims and their families being vilified, particularly females. See also: Savile; Rochdale; various Met cases.

Frankola · 10/07/2023 11:16

One theory is that the money received was from blackmailing the accused and the mother has gone public to stop this. Ie if it's out in the open, it takes away the reason for the blackmail. The mother has said all along that all she wanted was for the accused to stop sending the money.

Frankola · 10/07/2023 11:25

@AutumnCrow I am not vilifying any victim. I am not vilifying their family. Don't even throw out a general accusation of that...

I am perfectly entitled to enquire why the mother of the victim went to the Sun newspaper rather than police. This has been evidenced in the news articles about this subject. Including the BBC who have said they are "now" working with the police over the matter.

Frankola · 10/07/2023 11:30

@Sunnydays41 So does the mother think her child was blackmailing the presenter?

In that case I can understand why she wouldn't want the police involved, because can't her child get charged for a crime now?

violinviolet · 10/07/2023 11:33

If schofield can get so vilified for a relationship that was consensual but I agree unwise then this is much worse and should be named

NeedToThinkOfOne · 10/07/2023 11:34

Not policing the thread, just offering another opinion, that of a person’s innocence until proven otherwise and the impact of all this social media witch-hunt on his family. Not getting thrills by speculating and getting giggly about a photo which is more than likely fake.
