I don't have twitter and haven't seen any theories as to who it is, I'm presuming a man due to the figure outline being used in the press:

@Goldfoot the BBC report says that the sun has made the allegations, it also goes on to say 'if we receive information that requires further investigation or examination we will take steps to do this. That includes actively attempting to speak to those who have contacted us in order to seek further detail and understanding of the situation.
"If we get no reply to our attempts or receive no further contact that can limit our ability to progress things but it does not mean our enquiries stop.'

Which is a bit odd isn't it? Makes it sound as if they aren't getting any information directly from the alleged victim.

If it turns out the mum is lying (the sun say they have an affidavit) would she be charged with something do you know?

Willmafrockfit · 09/07/2023 08:17

the mum is talking but her offspring is saying nothing

Goldfoot · 09/07/2023 08:19

So had the BBC denied it got the complaint on 19 May?

Poor Tess.
This has nothing to do with todays accusations but I do know that her H is absolutely hated by at R2. He’s very “difficult” to work with and many were dismayed when he got to replace Ken Bruce. People literally hate him.

Then why bring it into this thread? Unless it's your not so subtle way of dropping his name into it.

That's a good point, I don't think it has actually

LlynTegid · 09/07/2023 08:36

It is July, anyone absent for a while could be on holiday.

AutumnCrow · 09/07/2023 08:50

I think the BBC ‘complaints system’ sounds about as awesome as the Liberal Democrats’.

It starts and ends with ‘nothing to see here’ via no-one actually looking for evidence of anything, running parallel with nauseating deference towards the Awfully Important Men accused.

If there is truth to the stories, then it is absolutely right and proper that the person involved should be appropriately sanctioned. What that might involve I cannot say, because, like everybody else here, I do not know what happened (and wouldn't trust the Sun to accurately print anything).

But I am amazed at the number of people here who are in favour of an employer taking steps to name and shame an individual against whom there have been allegations without any form of investigation taking place, any disciplinary process, or any proper outcome determined. You would all be screaming bloody murder - and quite rightly - if your employer did that to you.

This is not about a "complaint" - it is a serious allegation which impacts on someone's employment, livelihood and reputation. It would be entirely wrong of any employer to breach their duties of confidentiality and care to their employees. This person, whoever they are, has the same rights as all of you. It doesn't matter what they have allegedly done. Until that is proven to the required legal standard, this individual has rights too.

Before you hang people, it is an awfully good idea to be sure they did something. People here are still naming / hinting at individuals who have publicaly said it is not them. This has got nothing at all to do with justice. It has everything to do with mob mentality.

WhisperingAutistic · 09/07/2023 09:18

Looking like it is who people are saying it is.
Huge shocker as he's such a big household name.

This is from Tattle. I've read it on twitter too as this was said live this morning.

NeedToThinkOfOne · 09/07/2023 09:22

Spot on @Quveas cant believe this thread is still going (and the other one). Watching the BBC having to report about an employee last night was madness- any one of us in the same circumstances would hope that our employers didn’t throw us under a bus before a fair investigation was conducted. So it’s right they haven’t commented further or made any statement on who it isn’t (let those egos speak up for themselves).

At the same time, would any of us as parents go to The Sun, rather than sit on our hands and wait for that company to conduct a fair investigation? I hardly think the Sun will be concerned about a duty of care to the family, it’s more about the advertising revenue for the many, many clicks they’ve been receiving over the past few days.
Grubby stuff all round.

Willmafrockfit · 09/07/2023 09:23

it is an offence to show images under 18, causing this carries a prison sentence

these are allegations in the Sun however

Katchagoogoo · 09/07/2023 09:23

There is no link between philip schofield and jeremy vine.
😉

Willmafrockfit · 09/07/2023 09:24

we dont know whether he has been suspended

Imnotswallowingthat · 09/07/2023 09:26

if rumours are true the man in question is Welsh.

The person being named is due to be on tv tomorrow evening so that will be interesting.

Very much agree, I’ve complained many times about the terrible way the BBC have been captured by the likes of Mermaid’s and Stonewall and child safeguarding issues around these two organisations. You get a complete brush off unless you keep on complaining.
I know many others complained about these organisations and the BBC did eventually take down programmes aimed at children, so they listened eventually but it shouldn’t be that hard.

Said person usually does Radio Cymru on a Sunday morning and wasn't on.... 😔

I got the impression it was a BBC host who is well known. Probably isn't well known.

The person who is being suggested is extremely well known. A loved household name.

It’s not an entertainment presenter. Think more along the lines of news, current affairs and royal occasions where he features very prominently.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 09/07/2023 10:12

the sex of the young person involved has not been made clear in media reports. My gut feeling is that’s because it is a young man who presents as a woman.

of course, we’ll probably never know for sure

ArcaneWireless · 09/07/2023 10:18

@Quveas

Thank you for your post.

I have been subjected to this type of ordeal. (Although not this type of allegation). In my case though it was false allegations by the man who bullied me for years.

Unless people have lived it, I doubt they will ever understand how badly it impacts every aspect of their lives. How it continues to.

We all gossip. But naming individuals when there is no foundation to it at all? Expecting an employer to name someone without a thorough investigation?

You are right quevas. Everyone here would be screaming blue murder if it happened to them.

I did. And yet it continues to affect things in my life years on.
