I don't have twitter and haven't seen any theories as to who it is, I'm presuming a man due to the figure outline being used in the press:

BBC News at 10 leading with the story, referring to ‘the BBC’ and ‘the BBC hasn’t confirmed’ etc, etc. I really, really don’t understand this style of reporting from the BBC about the BBC, by a BBC reporter talking to a BBC newsreader.
W1A vibes.

RachelGreensHair · 08/07/2023 22:13

My only thought is the kid was 17 so they'd more likely send their pics to someone who kids in that age looked up to and found attractive, some of the names being mentioned are so old that I can't even imagine a 17 year old following them online to even initiate the first conversation.

LizzieSiddal · 08/07/2023 22:13

Poor Tess.
This has nothing to do with todays accusations but I do know that her H is absolutely hated by at R2. He’s very “difficult” to work with and many were dismayed when he got to replace Ken Bruce. People literally hate him.

KittyCatStevens · 08/07/2023 22:13

@NeedToThinkOfOne I'm not sure how else they could they possibly report it?

I don't know how they could do anything else as a supposedly neutral news reporting service

Like Schofield? They can promise the earth....

I know, I just find it all very odd to watch.

justasking111 · 08/07/2023 22:31

There's another really odd super injunction about the latest peerages made by Bojo. The youngest ever peer has a super injunction.

Apparently there are six live super injunctions at the moment so they're very unusual

But how do you even know this? (I don't understand twitter)?

WhisperingAutistic · 08/07/2023 23:09

Just saw this on tattle about GB news.
It's certainly sounding newsreader like

Who do you think is the BBC presenter who has been suspended?
Soothingaftersun · 08/07/2023 23:13

If I understand the situation correctly we know who the presenter is but at this stage it's only the Mum's word and no proof. So nothing can be done .

WhisperingAutistic · 08/07/2023 23:15

Here's the actual tweet

That's nice, give everyone a whole new list of names to speculate about. If it's the one who currently seems to be top of the list, that would be shocking, but maybe that's why he's top of the list, because tweets like this.

LizzieSiddal · 09/07/2023 07:11

Those saying there’s no proof other than the word of the mum, that just isn’t true. The Sun would have their lawyers all over this, and would have seen proof before they considered printing the story. The mum said her child has photos of this person sitting on his sofa, his desk etc and the sun would not asked to see those photos.

Fairplayplease · 09/07/2023 07:22

Clearly the presenter has paid out thousands so the search can be narrowed down by considering who is overpaid. . .Hang on that's all of them.

Zebedee55 · 09/07/2023 07:38

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 08/07/2023 11:23

Still massively more likely to be man if someone is paying for sexually explicit pictures.

So do you think that gay men are far more likely to be after sexually explicit pictures of under-18s than straight men are? What makes you think that?

The mother of the boy has confirmed it was a man:

BBC host who 'paid youth for sex pics' could face POLICE probe

The BBC presenter accused of paying a teenager more than £35,000 for sex pics could face a police probe over potential offences which comes with a maximum 14-year jail term.

£35k to feed a drug habit would be pretty enticing

@mumsnet what are you trying to achieve by allowing this post to continue? Allowing a bunch of women who have had a few too many Pinots to lay the blame at the feet of anyone they personally dislike from the BBC? You are so quick to delete other posts. What are your ulterior motives here?

I agree

If they had solid proof though why didn't they just name the presenter? I'm increasingly wondering if it isn't just the sun printing a load of shit.

As a super injunction is an injunction that can not even be revealed as existing, how do you know?

The BBC are reporting the same story?

Willmafrockfit · 09/07/2023 08:05

The allegations, first reported by the Sun, are that the unnamed star paid tens of thousands of pounds to the young person over three years.
As the star faces serious questions about their conduct, so does the organisation itself.
This is a very clear crisis for the BBC. There are already accusations that since May, when it's claimed the family first complained, it hadn't handled the investigation into the unnamed presenter properly.
Who carried it out? How did they try and contact the family who complained?
What steps did they take to question the presenter and to investigate further?
Who in the BBC knew about the accusations?

Now we still don't know whether the presenter has or hasn't been formally suspended. The BBC press office won't tell us. All we know is that he won't be on air in the near future.
