Civil servants getting £1500

FragrantBumFluff · 03/07/2023 18:54

Sorry if there is already a thread.

Has anybody had this yet or had any confirmation of the details?

My department has basically confirmed that it’s in the pipeline but not when, or who is eligible, if it will be pro rata’d for those who work part time etc.

I know I should be patient but it would be very welcomed!

To the best of my knowledge it has not yet been finalised.

It’s the current offer and is subject to negotiation / acceptance. Perhaps soon as there is reference to a meeting in ‘early july’

The pro rata element for part timers would normally be expected to be the case, and that was what original correspondence looked to be. But in the above link it appears to have been asked whether or not part timers would get £1500 or a proportion of £1500 based on the description as a one of cost of living payment - the current response is inconclusive in that it is part of the whole pay offer, which would mean each department has to keep within the total pay budget

Pay concessions FAQs

We have received questions from members on the new pay offer from the government. Answers to the most commonly asked questions are below. This page will be updated as we receive more information and continue our negotiations with the Cabinet Office.

We’ve been told it will be paid in July’s wages 🤞.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 03/07/2023 19:25

And that it will be pro rata for part timers sorry if you are part time.

PaniniHead · 03/07/2023 19:26

We’ve been told July too. Remember it will be taxed etc and if you claim UC then it will count as earnings.

Upanddownthemerrygoround · 03/07/2023 19:27

I’ve got it already, pro rataed. In June pay check. Small department though.

Ooo, I hope so!

Upanddownthemerrygoround · 03/07/2023 19:28

Also in my dept you could ask for it to be paid in instalments if that was more convenient for you.

Sunshineandflipflops · 03/07/2023 19:32

I got excited but then read it’s for grades 6 and lower 😔

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/07/2023 19:35

@Sunshineandflipflops but I don’t think the senior civil service are exactly hard done by, either salary wise or bonus wise. 🤔

Sunshineandflipflops · 03/07/2023 19:37

I’m grade 10. Very average salary, single parent and never had a bonus in the 20 years I’ve worked for local government (do they even exist?) Just the cost of living rises. Not complaining, just hadn’t heard of this payment but pleased for those getting it.

sandgrown · 03/07/2023 19:41

@Sunshineandflipflops which department has a grade 10???

PaniniHead · 03/07/2023 19:42

Grade 10? Which band is that?

BobBobBobbing · 03/07/2023 19:45

Grade 10 is EO. So its everyone below senior civil service that is getting it (grades 12 to 6).

PaniniHead · 03/07/2023 19:49

Ah in my department an EO would be an only be the third grade above the lowest. We either have a grade (EO, SEO etc) with a band attached (but it’s a letter not a number).

Sunshineandflipflops · 03/07/2023 19:50

I think I have misunderstood. I am a local
government officer so probably not included in this. As you were 😆

MIBnightmare · 03/07/2023 20:52

Civil servants AA, AO, EO, HEO, SEO, G7 & G6. Should all qualify for it. We are expecting it to be paid in Sept salaries. (Large Dept- takes longer to organise apparently) also expect it to be pro-rata.

No idea if we will get a pay rise though. Only had 1% for last 3 years so bloody hope so.

SMBCmama · 03/07/2023 20:54

Does anyone know what will happen about this if you’re on SMP in July?

thecathasbeenfed · 03/07/2023 20:55

We are an arms length body but part of the civil service pay remit and ours was paid in the June pay.

It was pro rated for part time employees.

UndercoverCop · 03/07/2023 20:57

Ours is being paid in July pay, staff on mat leave and LTS will also be eligible if employed in the qualifying dates (march and June) , pro rata for part time staff

UndercoverCop · 03/07/2023 20:58

Our grading is slightly different

Ilikewinter · 03/07/2023 20:59

Also paid in July for me....pro rata for part timers.

We’ve had ours confirmed as July salaries (top 3 largest civil service departments). And 4.5% pay remit for 2023/24 is with the PCS currently

Whenthecrowdsayboselecta · 03/07/2023 21:19

Yes, we’ve also had it confirmed for July, with the option to take it over three months (September-November), if preferred. Prorated for part-time staff.

LollipopViolet · 03/07/2023 21:25

July is what I've heard in my department. Have also heard that PCS are on the case and trying for 4.5% pay remit. Honestly, we got a 3 year pay deal in August 2020 so we're definitely due a rise of some kind, I feel.

Notsuchacleverclogs · 03/07/2023 21:25

Small central dept. AA-G6 are getting it and we were paid it with June's salary.
