Civil servants getting £1500

Sorry if there is already a thread.

Has anybody had this yet or had any confirmation of the details?

My department has basically confirmed that it’s in the pipeline but not when, or who is eligible, if it will be pro rata’d for those who work part time etc.

I know I should be patient but it would be very welcomed!

It’s meant to be getting paid in the July pay for us and will be pro-rated for part-timers which wasn’t received well.

was this for hmrc?

dubyalass · 04/07/2023 20:22

DEFRA ALB here, same as @Confuzzlediddled we're getting it in Aug with option for installments which I will be taking.

usernother · 04/07/2023 20:35

Why are they getting a cost of living payment?

Overthebow · 04/07/2023 20:42

Why are they getting a cost of living payment?

Because cost of living is high and they've had minimal pay rises for years.

Why are they getting a cost of living payment?

A lot of companies have been giving cost of living payments…

Chooba · 04/07/2023 20:46

Because a one off payment doesn't add to a salary baseline in future years?

Same here.

I'm part time so pro rata 28hrs, then tax, it won't be much. I'd rather have a pay rise to put my place in line with other Defra bodies. Wish they'd get on with the pay case.

dubyalass · 04/07/2023 20:53

Ha, @Hiddiddleyho I wonder if you're in the same ALB? Lowest paid for of all the DEFRA ALBs? With the pay flex case that's allegedly happening in July? 🤔😉

Precisely.

CornishTiger · 04/07/2023 20:55

Some AO civil servants have been on minimum wage since April. Some with many many years service and experience. Getting the same wage as those on the band below them.

it’s a bloody disgrace.

They need to crack on and pay this if they are paying it- otherwise it’ll affect those on UC for when the next cost of living entitlement date for UC claimants is announced.

Unless there's somewhere worse than NE that I don't know about?!!

dubyalass · 04/07/2023 20:58

😂😂😂

😭😭😭

TimeToMoveIt · 04/07/2023 21:00

Ours is July and pro rata MoJ

Sunand · 04/07/2023 21:15

It’s seems every other department has had it confirmed when it’s getting paid apart from hmrc

Whenthecrowdsayboselecta · 04/07/2023 21:21

I don’t believe DWP know when there’s will be paid yet. My friend who works there doesn’t; last they heard they don’t have the money for it 🙃

She may want to check that again… 😉

I’ve heard the opposite that DWP and home office has had it confirmed for July pay that was posted by someone on the intranet today

Whenthecrowdsayboselecta · 04/07/2023 21:27

Ahh, that’s great! Thanks @PaniniHead and @Sunand! Admittedly, we’ve not caught up on the subject since Friday and that’s when PCS were saying the feedback was DWP didn’t have the budget for it. Very pleased to hear this tripe isn’t still being trotted out 👍

Lillipops · 04/07/2023 21:31

Has anyone heard when the MOD will be getting the £1500?

supersonicginandtonic · 04/07/2023 21:34

My partner is probation and got told July. The person who said they don't get paid badly 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what planet are you on?

Amboseli · 04/07/2023 21:44

@supersonicginandtonic I do think civil servants need to take into account not just their current salary but their future pension which they will receive index linked for life and add it altogether to have a true idea of their overall pay over their lifetime.

There is an option with BofE to accept higher pay now and a lower pension in future. Some people seem to want both, higher pay now and the same future pension or actually higher future pension as it's based on current pay.

That’s a good point actually. The BoE option should be an option for the whole public sector.

menope · 04/07/2023 22:01

We are getting it in July. I've heard of a few departments having cleared it for July. It's being prorated everywhere I've heard of so far.

It's the pay award we are waiting to hear on now, anyone heard any rumours from their department?

My department started exploring this option but I heard that it hasn’t got legs (not sure the details of why, maybe just the particular way it was proposed rather than the general principle).

We’re not eligible for it at all 🙄because although we are CS, we’re not subject to the CS pay remit. And it was reported in the media recently that the government are threatening to ignore the recommendations of our pay review board too, so we could end up getting nothing at all 🙄🙄

tommika · 04/07/2023 22:40

usernother · 04/07/2023 18:59

It's their pay rise?

It’s a one off non colsolidated payment from the pay budget
So in effect it’s a pay rise one year and pay cut the next
