Civil servants getting £1500

Sorry if there is already a thread.

Has anybody had this yet or had any confirmation of the details?

My department has basically confirmed that it’s in the pipeline but not when, or who is eligible, if it will be pro rata’d for those who work part time etc.

I know I should be patient but it would be very welcomed!

We are also an arms length body but large. We have been told that department -TU negotiations are happening but on the grapevine, know its a massive amount of money that needs to be found by the department. I can't see it not being paid really but where the money will come from is anyone's guess.

We are an arms length body but part of the civil service pay remit and ours was paid in the June pay.

It was pro rated for part time employees.

I wonder if we are at the same arms length body! Ours wasn't extra money, it had to come out of the existing budget but we received it in June's pay

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/07/2023 21:35

Arms length body - we're getting it in August.

Apparently it's not funded at all. It isn't money coming from the Treasury its just, "ok all Civil Servants can get a COL payment but your departments will need to fund it".

Grade 10 is EO. So its everyone below senior civil service that is getting it (grades 12 to 6).

Not in all departments it isn’t. In my department we have a senior manager (my manager’s manager) who reports direct to the DD and is a Band 10.

1406E · 04/07/2023 17:20

We were told August pay them a 2nd email went out, back peddling and apologising that it won't be Aug as it has to go back to the pay board and only them will they be able to confirm if and who gets it. It will be pro rota and taxed

Singleandproud · 04/07/2023 17:26

I'm in an arms length body, ours is being paid In August with the option of spreading out the payment over 4 months if it suits you, I guess this is to help those who pay student loans and in order to avoid it impacting those on UC etc

wonderinglywondering · 04/07/2023 17:28

Ours is being paid in July, pro-rated for part time staff (which i don’t agree with) and option to have it paid in 3 instalments to lessen detrimental effects on people who receive UC for example.

wonderinglywondering · 04/07/2023 17:29

Oh and it has to come out of the departments existing budget.

Sunand · 04/07/2023 18:42

Hi can anyone say what departments have been told and it is confirmed the payment will paid in July?

RumNotRun · 04/07/2023 18:52

WG, we're getting it in July's pay and it's not pro rata for part timers!

Confuzzlediddled · 04/07/2023 18:58

I'm defra, we've getting it in August, prorated for part timers and the option to have instalments.

For ours you need to have been in employment on 31st march and still there August payday.

usernother · 04/07/2023 18:59

It's their pay rise?

FitAt50 · 04/07/2023 19:09

usernother · 04/07/2023 18:59

It's their pay rise?

No, its a cost of living payment of £1500 to civil servants - and then a 4.5% pay rise at a later date.

AnneElliott · 04/07/2023 19:14

Also been told it will be in July's wages. And yes pro data for part time people although think PCS have raised an issue with that.

Sunand · 04/07/2023 19:17

Sorry I don’t know what departments are you’ve abbreviated I’m with HMRC

eldorado02 · 04/07/2023 19:28

I work for an arms length body ‘sponsored’ (not sure that’s the right word!) by the Cabinet Office and we had confirmation from the union today that we’re getting it in our July pay. Pro-rated for part time workers and employees can ask for it to be paid in instalments to minimise impact on UC, student loans etc. I think the union (PCS) is objecting to the pro-rata aspect, or at the very least gathering views on this topic.

eldorado02 · 04/07/2023 19:30

Oh, and employees need to have been in post in the qualifying period to get the payment: 31 March to 1 July.

Sunand · 04/07/2023 19:32

Hmrc confirmed it’s July?

Oblomov23 · 04/07/2023 19:42

This seems very unfair to me. I can't see his this has been allowed.

Probation Service.

Why is it unfair? Civil servants have had minimal pay rises for years.

LaBefana · 04/07/2023 20:03

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/07/2023 19:35

@Sunshineandflipflops but I don’t think the senior civil service are exactly hard done by, either salary wise or bonus wise. 🤔

What planet's Civil Service is that?

SusieKin · 04/07/2023 20:07

It’s meant to be getting paid in the July pay for us and will be pro-rated for part-timers which wasn’t received well.
