Sorry if there is already a thread.

Has anybody had this yet or had any confirmation of the details?

My department has basically confirmed that it’s in the pipeline but not when, or who is eligible, if it will be pro rata’d for those who work part time etc.

I know I should be patient but it would be very welcomed!

I'm an EO and with student loan etc, I got just over £800. I know it's better than nothing blah blah, but DAMN!!!

Me too. I mean I do appreciate it, but almost half is gone!

I got £800 as paid extra pension and student loan.
Lose £450 universal credit next month.

@Isthatasmilethathangsbeneathyournose did you department not offer it as installments for those on benefits??

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/08/2023 14:27

I got it in July’s pay.

My department did offer in instalments for those who need it.

I think a flat payment is fair as it benefits those at a lower grade more than at a higher grade, ie less taxes to pay on it. A percentage is obviously less fair!

No installments offered. It'll be annoying if I have a zero payment the month used for the DWP payment and lose that as well - but at least I know to expect it. I worry some colleagues might be spending the extra money.

TimeToMoveIt · 07/08/2023 18:07

We didn't get the option of monthly payments either

If you’re already paid enough in standard pay to pay income tax then higher and lower salaries in the same tax bracket will pay the same amount of income tax on the £1500 as a whole or part payments

Eg the basic rate of 20% covers salaries o £12,571 to £50,270 per year
Anyone earning from £12571 to £48770 will be paying 20% income tax on their £1500 whether it’s a single or split payments

Anyone earning up to £11070 would pay zero income tax on their £1500

If you earn £11071 to £12570 then you would pay 0% on most of your salary but 20% on the element pushed over £12571

Anyone earning over £48770 would pay a mix of 20% and 40% on the excess of the threahold
