Civil servants getting £1500

Sorry if there is already a thread.

Has anybody had this yet or had any confirmation of the details?

My department has basically confirmed that it’s in the pipeline but not when, or who is eligible, if it will be pro rata’d for those who work part time etc.

I know I should be patient but it would be very welcomed!

Anyone heard for hmrc yet?

As far as I know, the last thing we heard in HMRC, about this, was on 2 June. But that was just a general message telling us about it.

I haven't seen anything since to confirm when we will be getting it.

I think we have to wait @Sunand

You would think they would shed some light for hmrc since others are being told more

I feel really lucky that I have started a new role on promotion in my department. I did have an offer from another government department - assumed there would be admin issues with this payment and transferring.

it’s interesting to see a couple of posters suggesting it is unfair CS get this payment. Are our bills less than the others who have got some form of cost of living payment? If so sign me up to these discounts as I’m not eligible for any government support! My bills were the entirety of my salary at one point last year with all the bill increase.

@Ashy987654 yes thanks my partner heard today couldn't have come at a better time Smile

The £1500 is part of a whole package on the government pay offer with a number of rules and options. Each department must keep within its pay budget, ensure the lowest paid all get a greater percentage rise than others (to avoid falling below minimum wage and to gradually close the pay range in each grade) etc, follow the normal pay negotiations, get it agreed with unions etc (unions may agree or may put it to a members vote) - and show central government that they can pay it all within budget

Departments may have agreed the full pay offer, agreed to the £1500 , or still be under the negotiation

Yes totally however it was posted on the pcs website on the 09/06/23 that hmrc has agreed to pay 1500 and it is totally separate to pay rise negotiations

Though HMRC negotiations remain separate and they have confirmed how they are going ahead with the £1500, both are parts of the overall government 2022/3 pay package

All departments within scope of the offer have to handle their own overall packages.
They may be in different positions on the combination of central government, department, unions and members along with how all the elements may add up based on their departments mix of grades, current individual pay levels etc
It will mostly be just between department and union / members provided their preferred options of the offer and affordability fit into the government criteria.
Unions may be in different positions based on membership voting to date

The initial £1500 offer noted the pro rata basis for part timers, which would be the norm, but there may be an intent to pursue a case to make full payment for all staff (whether or not the unions that have mentioned this fully intend to pursue or use it as a platform to negotiate other options in the core pay negotiation)

There also may or may not be discussions on the £1500 as a single or periodic payment for members on universal credit etc

UndercoverCS · 06/07/2023 08:55

Does anyone know if Treasury are paying the 1500 and whether a date has been set for payment yet?

I know this is a really far out suggestion, but have you considered reading the thread?

@Sunand

Not sure if you've seen it, HMRC has just released that we are also getting g the £1,500 in our July pay, I.e the salary paymenr on 31st July.

So that's good news 😁

The pay negotiations are still ongoing

Ok…no need to be so snippy. I did read the thread, quite carefully and as far as I can see, no one has mentioned HMT yet…(if I missed it I do apologise)

I am currently on maternity leave and having issues accessing my emails so I just thought I’d use this helpful thread to see if anyone knew what Treasury had decided over when the 1500 would be paid and whether it was pro rata etc etc before I email HR to formally ask.

chohiad · 06/07/2023 19:21

@UndercoverCS I don't think I saw HMT mentioned on here. Might be worth asking on Reddit (although you'll need a hard hat on over there too, they're equally as snippy!)

Icannoteven · 06/07/2023 19:26

It is being held up, mainly by the British museum, who have refused to pay their staff (pcs won’t accept the pay deal until it is guaranteed that all departments will pay it -quite rightly)

chohiad · 06/07/2023 19:27

@Icannoteven that's not true (well if it is it's not holding it up for other departments) there are a couple of places that have had it already.

There was no need for that rudeness imo you were just asking a question

I'm not sure if HMT have been mentioned on this thread but there are a couple if others ive seen about the col payment , if you search something might come up on one of those that might help

ikno · 06/07/2023 19:59

I didn’t realise British museum staff were civil servants

AllAnusMorisette · 06/07/2023 20:07

I'm DWP, had notice of the payment at end of July, but can't see anything relating to having it paid over 3 months, is that something anyone else from DWP has seen or is that other departments?

Just looking on SOP now and nothing on there

^^ Just looking at the FAQs and it says we cannot request the payment in installments.

chohiad · 06/07/2023 20:18

Crikey you'd think of all the depts that would understand the need for an instalment option it would be DWP!

Apologies @UndercoverCS, I’d just had some bad news about how long my DH is going to have to wait for cancer treatment earlier this morning so was in a foul mood, but that was no excuse to take it out on you.

chohiad · 06/07/2023 20:29

Really sorry to hear that Flowers

HarpyValley · 06/07/2023 20:34

And now I’ve just outed my CS-only name change so am going to have to NC again, FFS 🙄
