Just that really.

I'll start.......

Camwy. - it's a river in Patagonia. Really suited him though (Welsh ..... extremely Welsh man in his 50's).

Zerin. It's an Old Iranian name; she was Turkish. Evolved into Sarah & Seren elsewhere. It's a lovely name, I think, and wonderfully mystical-sounding when spoken correctly by her mother as "zhirzhian".

Work in education so heard some crackers:-

nevaeh.

T-J.
D-J
Teddy (actual name on birth certificate)

Lily-Roo.

Junior Junior.

There are others but they are current pupils.

galmom · 03/07/2023 19:51

Went to school with a Tuesday never came across one since.
I know a little girl called Reesa which I always thought was unusual and a zuzia pronounced zooja although she's polish so maybe not so uncommon there?

Jobreveal · 03/07/2023 19:52

I worked with a Darling.

A friend has just called her baby
Fox.

loislovesstewie · 03/07/2023 19:52

Oh, I forgot Lanesra, read it backwards. It is really a name that a fan used!

BarmyFotheringay · 03/07/2023 19:52

Knew a man with first name of Davenport
Worked with a woman called Favell (pronounced Fave-all)
Bob Marley fan father called his son BenJammin' - heard boy, now adult has changed it. Dunno what to though.

isthismylifenow · 03/07/2023 19:49

Is she African?

If so, Gugulethu could be her traditional name. Also shortened to Gugu.

Yes she is

JazzyBBG · 03/07/2023 19:52

Blessing

Patience

Turbo

Crispin - the surname that went with this made it too funny but I can't say the full name as outing for them

Bear

Monkeypopcorn · 03/07/2023 19:53

Also twins Blessing and Moreblessing.

8misskitty8 · 03/07/2023 19:54

Also met a few Fox’s.

TroysMammy · 03/07/2023 19:55

Sunday. Didn't know him well enough to ask if he had siblings and what were they called.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 03/07/2023 19:56

Trainsplanesandfeet · 03/07/2023 19:47

But then we also know brothers called Henry and Harry which are theoretically the same name I guess too

Yes they are.

But the three Millies I know are all actually Amelias.

Elodie09 · 03/07/2023 19:57

At uni with a girl called Thalia. I like the tradition in the north east where men sometimes get surnames as first names, eg Wilson, Middleton, Smith , Johnson etc

AD1996 · 03/07/2023 20:01

Pinky and Pepsi (not related)

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 03/07/2023 20:02

There was a poor child at my daughters primary school called Silvercup.

Sounds like a MN thread title where the OP has massively offended her sister-in-law.

nevaeh.

Do her parents just introduce her as "Nevaeh" or do they do the near-obligatory "Neveah - it's Heaven spelled backwards!!!" every single time?!

Crispin - the surname that went with this made it too funny but I can't say the full name as outing for them

Dry?
Quent?
Theoven?

isthismylifenow · 03/07/2023 20:02

Monkeypopcorn · 03/07/2023 19:53

Also twins Blessing and Moreblessing.

They may be Sibusiso and Sibusisiwe if they are boy and girl.

I may be way off here too though.

😀

Alsoplayspiccolo · 03/07/2023 20:02

A friend once told me about a woman who gave birth to twins and called them Male (pronounced Marley) and Female (pronounced Fermarly) because she read it on their wrist bands in the hospital.
No idea if he was winding me up, but it still makes me smile!

One of my favourite unusual names is Loveday.

CornishW · 03/07/2023 20:03

Saxon Bullock - sci-fi writer.

Smart Hopewell - small YouTuber.

Lipolass · 03/07/2023 20:04

Iminos (male).

scrivette · 03/07/2023 20:04

xsquared · 03/07/2023 19:15

Colleague has a Niven and an Inigo

Have they read The Ink Black Heart?

Ahh I had DD I liked Riven and Inigo for boys.

Growlybear83 · 03/07/2023 20:04

I completely forgot, as well as Silvercup, one of my daughters friends was called Angelfaith. Not surprisingly she shortened it to Faith when she got a bit older.

PurpleChrayne · 03/07/2023 20:05

My daughter has a female classmate named Jagger!

Notellinganyone · 03/07/2023 20:08

I taught a boy called Thor and another called Malin .

dancinginthesky · 03/07/2023 20:08

Pardon (male)
Bluebell (female)
Malaria (female, and yes exactly like the disease in spelling and pronunciation)

RosaSkye · 03/07/2023 20:19

I’m a huge name nerd but I actually love some that have been mentioned here, even if not brave enough to use them myself… (one of my DD’s names has been mentioned but it’s vaguely popular now)

I’ve taught some unusual ones but often just unusual in this culture.

I know of a baby Clay which is the first I’ve ever heard.
