Do you enjoy drop rides/the sensation of falling?

I detest them, that is any ride that involves a drop or plunge of any kind. A friend loves them. I can't go on any water rides for this reason.

Boring topic I know but I'm curious to know how others feel about them?

I hate those ones where you are in a row of chairs and go up and pile and drop. Cannot even do the kids ones

christmastreefarm · 01/07/2023 16:04

*up a pole

Eggsley · 01/07/2023 16:05

Yes, love them! And spinny rides. The bit I hate is when a rollercoaster is climbing.

EvenmoreDetermined · 01/07/2023 16:05

No, I cannot bear them.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 01/07/2023 16:05

I don't even like the tea cups...

stephaniezanoni · 01/07/2023 16:07

Can't stand any theme park rides I find them all petrifying!

Allmyghosts · 01/07/2023 16:08

I used to, don't think I could cope now. I had an ill advised go on the waltzers last summer Envy they just went on and on and on.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 01/07/2023 16:09

Makes me feel physically sick and faint. But as a kid/teen I loved them and was fine.

SortOfLikeAnOctopusOnlyMoreBlocky · 01/07/2023 16:09

I can't stand vertical drop rides. I went on Oblivion and the Pepsi Max drop back in the day, and concluded that they are not for me. Went to Thorpe Park once, total waste of money as pretty much the only ride I enjoyed was Nemesis Inferno 😏

BettyOBarley · 01/07/2023 16:11

No I hate them!

I can go upside down, spinning round fast as you like.. but I hate that feeling in my stomach on a drop... Off to DLP next month and no way would I go on that Tower of Terror 🤢

HamstersAreMyLife · 01/07/2023 16:12

I did the Pepsi max when it first opened and have hated them ever since. Took my son on a pirate ship last year and nearly cried not realising it would feel the same 🤦🏼‍♀️

dewdip · 01/07/2023 16:14

I hate them and don't like any fast spinny rides either. My 5yo loves them so I'll go on with her if she asks me to, but I can only tolerate it by keeping my eyes closed throughout and clinging on for dear life!

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/07/2023 16:14

I love anything like that. But then I've bungee jumped as well. I love being scared, then not. I think it's the ADHD sensory seeking thing.

UnDruidlyWords · 01/07/2023 16:14

I absolutely loathe them. About 30 years ago, we went to Disney Land in California and went on that Space Mountain ride. Don't know why, but I had no idea it was a roller coaster in the dark and I spent almost the entire ride all hunched up with my eyes tight shut. Honestly, t'ain't natural...

TeenDivided · 01/07/2023 16:16

Hate them. Tower of terror in Florida terrified me.
See also any large roller coaster or sharp drop water ride.
Thunder Mountain - fun, anything more and I'm out.

ikno · 01/07/2023 16:16

I haven’t been to a theme park since I was at school. As a teen I was short and slim and only just about met the height criteria. I felt scared I would die because I wasn’t cushioned in at all - if I didn’t concentrate on holding on to the rails tightly, I felt I could fall out and injure myself so it wasn’t enjoyable. But then again, looking back I’m sure no amount of holding on would have prevented gravity from occurring

the only ride I enjoyed was when I sat next to an overweight man who took up much of the room, I genuinely felt padded and secure in the seat. That was the only time I understood the theme park hype!

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 01/07/2023 16:18

No, not interested

TokyoSushi · 01/07/2023 16:21

Utterly utterly hate them, like really bad!

afrikat · 01/07/2023 16:26

Absolutely love them. Tower of Terror in Disney is the pinnacle

megletthesecond · 01/07/2023 16:26

No. I can tolerate a log flume and a runaway train ride but that's it.

Dollmeup · 01/07/2023 16:30

Absolutely hate them! I love a bit of speed but hate spinning and weightlessness and I'm not keen on being upside down.

I always make my partner do rollercoasters with the kids!

Doingmybest12 · 01/07/2023 16:38

Can't even go down a children's slide at the play ground now.

Amethystanddiamonds · 01/07/2023 17:03

Love tower of terror and oblivion but any of those with your feet swinging, while you go straight up and down then nope but only because I really don't feel safe enough to enjoy it. Think tower of terror is the only ride that properly terrifies me in a good way. Probably because I know I'm relatively safe. Also my 4 year old was desperate to go on and giggled all the way through. He was telling people off for screaming 😂 Love a good proper rollercoaster that takes you upside down as well.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/07/2023 17:05

No way I feel really sick faint and panicky
My sense of adventure left me decades ago

WithMyDamnHighHopes · 01/07/2023 17:09

I’ve never loved them but have been on quite a lot. Now I really don’t like them. One of my kids loves them and one hates all rides and anything theme park related.
