Do you enjoy drop rides/the sensation of falling?

I detest them, that is any ride that involves a drop or plunge of any kind. A friend loves them. I can't go on any water rides for this reason.

Boring topic I know but I'm curious to know how others feel about them?

I get no feelings whatsoever from rollercoasters... no fear, no adrenaline, nothing.

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 01/07/2023 20:38

I can't abide the sensation, so much so that I can't go over a hump-back bridge without clinging on to the door handle and the armrest for dear life. I can't manage on a back garden swing either. DH and I used to share fairground rides with him taking the kids on the switchback stuff, and me doing the spinny stuff with them as that made him feel sick. I can't do spinny now either, so its just as well I'm way past the age of ever having to.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/07/2023 21:21

Hate them. Avoid like the plague.

Power0n · 01/07/2023 21:28

I used to love them but now hate them.
I'm dreading a Chessington holiday this summer as DC absolutely love the rides.

Katkincake · 01/07/2023 22:14

Hate them. Off to Florida in October I will be avoiding tower of terror like the plague. I’m even concerned over the little drop on hagrids motorcycle, but willing to give it a go. I want to do Velocicoaster but the big drop looks horrid.

However anything spinny and upside down I love and I don’t mind fast coasters. Like PP I also hate humpback bridges. Weird isn’t it

Velocicoaster is one of the best, but most extreme 'falling' rollercoasters I've ever been on. I think because it's only a lap bar and you rise out of your seat. The first time I went on it I thought I was going to die. By the third time it was my favourite rollercoaster ever 🤣

enemaofthestate · 01/07/2023 22:23

Hate them! The feeling in my stomach when it drops is so unpleasant I can’t describe it. Feels like all my insides are going to come out my mouth or something.

I suffer from anxiety and wonder whether there’s a link there?

Useruser0912 · 01/07/2023 22:24

Hate them. Tower of Terror nearly ended me when I went on it at 13. I went on every other ride in Florida except from the ones that shoot you up (similar to the Ice Blast). I've also never been on the Ice Blast and never will. Or the Pepsi Max. We go to Blackpool next week and my daughter is begging me to go on them both with her. I might consider the Pepsi Max but you couldn't pay me to go near the Ice Blast.

GMH1974 · 01/07/2023 22:24

As some others have said fairground rides make me feel dizzy, faint and sick. They're migraine - inducing.

Useruser0912 · 01/07/2023 22:24

It's not even so much the thought of the drop that puts me off the ice blast it's the anticipation sitting waiting to be shot up in the air 🤮

Whatajokr · 01/07/2023 22:26

Love love love love love love love

escript · 01/07/2023 22:36

Also love.

ChristmasJumpers · 01/07/2023 22:39

Love them, but I love all rides! Rollercoasters, drop rides, spinning fairground rides, the lot. DH doesn't so I don't get to go on them as much as I'd like to

Mammyloveswine · 01/07/2023 22:41

Hate them

NeverDropYourMooncup · 01/07/2023 22:45

It might be that I've not been on any good ones, but I've always found rides just...well, Meh. My ex was furious when the photo at one place had everybody else screaming, him looking terrified and me looking as though I'm four trollies back at Tesco's.

I wouldn't mind if they actually gave me a bit of a rush, but they never have.

Petal7 · 01/07/2023 22:52

Love rides with drops. Tower of Terror at DLP my favourite ride by far! Have done 2 sky dives and love that "falling" sensation.

But absolutely hate spinning nowadays, which I loved as a teen. I get so dizzy!@

Lostmum2407 · 01/07/2023 22:56

megletthesecond · 01/07/2023 16:26

No. I can tolerate a log flume and a runaway train ride but that's it.

Same! Hate anything too high up and absolutely wouldn’t go on anything that goes upside down. Pirate ships 🤢, anything that spins fast, no way! Always have been like this and wont ever change. Gulliver’d World is my limit 🤣

Overthinkingperhaps · 01/07/2023 23:00

Tower of Terror is amazing.

I don't actually like heights but you're inside for that ride. With the doors opening momentarily just before the big drop.

What I can't stand is going upside down 🤢

Bubblyb00b · 01/07/2023 23:04

NOOO! That awful tickly pulling feeling in your stomach, I cant stand it. No way! No idea how anyone could enjoy it.

usernotfound0000 · 01/07/2023 23:06

A big fan here, favourite ride is Hollywood tower of terror in Disney. Can't stand spinny rides though, tea cups and waltzers are a definite no from me. Will go on anything else though.

BabsDylan · 01/07/2023 23:10

I also hate that sensation…… pirate ship is my worst nightmare and I won’t even get on a log flume.

I don’t mind going upside down on a roller coaster but it’s rare you find anything without a drop!

the Vampire ride at Chessington is my absolute limit (no drops,no upside down just fast)

PinedApple · 01/07/2023 23:18

Haven't been for years but used to like the drop rides and rollercoasters - but not upside down hanging type or even just the big upside down turns. Also can't do the tea cup type spinners - instant nausea (but then I also can't face the wrong way on a train for the same reason Grin)

FawnFrenchieMum · 01/07/2023 23:21

They are my least favourite of all rides. I love rides and theme parks and usually ride all rides several times, but will only do the sheer drop ones once. I love roller coasters though, just things like tower of terror I can only do the once.

Jobreveal · 01/07/2023 23:21

I used to love all rides but as I've got older I can't cope with spinning rollercoaster type rides. However I still love rides that drop. Tower of Terror at Disney World is the best ride I've ever been on. My second favourite is Oblivion at Alton Towers.

blueshoes · 01/07/2023 23:22

I am with you OP. I won't do anything that has a drop. Except a rollercoaster with one big drop and then smaller and smaller ones.

But I can do everything else, being thrown around, up and down, round and round, hanging upside down.
