Is anyone else getting stupid spam emails with subjects about OralB but it's clearly just phishing?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 01/07/2023 10:13

I'm receiving multiple a day going into my normal inbox rather than junk and it's really irritating me now. I'm marking them as junk or spam without opening them now cause I figured I think the sender can tell if an email is opened? But it's all different spammy type email addresses, never the same one.
Don't know what's happened to kick off the sudden I flux of them but I haven't signed up to anything new. Very irritating!

Yes, me too. I'm reporting them (probably useless as they come from different addresses). Intensely annoying.

corlan · 01/07/2023 10:17

Yes.Been getting them a few weeks. Mark them as junk, but still they come!

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 01/07/2023 10:22

One of life's petty annoyances. I don't get a lot of junk but I might have to start filtering my addresses a bit harder so the phishing gets deleted automatically.

sanityisamyth · 01/07/2023 10:24

Ohhhh it's not just me! Had them for weeks now and they're pissing me right off.

Ladylonglegs · 01/07/2023 10:25

Me too, I seem to getting more than usual lately and I’m not sure why. Oral b, air fryers, curry competitions. I’ve never fallen for a scam, block and report them all but it gets so annoying at having to do this several times a day.

HundredMilesAnHour · 01/07/2023 10:25

Me too. Driving me a bit loopy.

MidgeMainCourse · 01/07/2023 10:30

They're so bloody annoying

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 01/07/2023 10:30

I have two inboxes, focused and others (set up because of that bloody irritating Microsoft 'upgrade' message that can't be blocked. Everything from sites I've signed up to is starting to be sent to there and I'm putting a hard filter on the junk to delete anything else automatically.

Checked a Microsoft 'help' (ha!) board and that's the only solution they can offer. It might be that our addresses are on a compromised site and that's why spam has increased.

I have this inboxes, I think it's standard now, but they keep coming to the focused one.

We get loads - all the Oral B, Curry’s, Costco type ones but also hundreds of US ones about lawn services, double glazing, class actions etc. I reckon it’s about 50 or 60 a day, most go into junk but the odd one makes it into the inbox.

I got a lot of Costco ones recently which I had actually signed up to through work but those emails were legit and when I unsubscribed I haven't heard from them again. (So if you did have a card with them then just unsubscribe)

But for the others, there must be a company just selling all our data on and on and on.

As if anyone would click on the OralB things. So weird.

One reason why I don't give my email for receipts.

fairgame84 · 01/07/2023 10:38

Me too. I thought it only started happy since I bought something online from Boots but maybe it's a coincidence.

Whinge · 01/07/2023 10:38

I've also noticed a huge increase. It used to be one a week at most, but over the last few weeks it's been 10-20 a day.

100%

Yep I never do that either.

I know you can set up a "rule" to divert emails to a particular folder depending on a circumstance so I'm going to do that but I see I can't do it on the app I need to do it from a desktop
I'm going to create a rule for any email containing "OralB" to go to junk!

SabrinaThwaite · 01/07/2023 11:00

Many of the US ones are from when we lived over there. I tend not to sign up to marketing emails, or if I do to get a discount I unsubscribe asap. The junk ones I just delete, not going to click on anything.

eurochick · 01/07/2023 11:00

My hotmail account is inundated with oral B spam at the moment. It's annoying.

PlatBilledDuckypuss · 01/07/2023 11:29

Getting them too. Have made a mental note never to purchase Oral B.

LondonMummer · 01/07/2023 11:38

Yes! Bizarre. Couldn't they come up with anything better than OralB?

Neolara · 01/07/2023 11:40

Me too. V annoying.

EastCoastRye · 01/07/2023 11:48

Yes me too. Obviously some new way to get around the spam filter as normally I get none at all.

TherealmrsT · 01/07/2023 12:04

Also getting oral B in my Hotmail account, been going on a few weeks and can't think of anywhere new I have given my email too.
Keep reporting!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 01/07/2023 15:12

Yes, WHY OralB?!
