Do you love or hate camping?

I just read another thread where a women was saying how she didn’t like camping.
I get why some people don’t like camping but I was surprised about how many others also hate it and they way they talked about their hate for the outdoors.
My question is, am I weird for loving being outdoors amongst the dirt and leaves?
Sometimes I go out in my car and park up in the countryside just to get away on my own and for my birthday I’m actually going away for the weekend on my own camping.
am I weird or is there anyone else out there that gets me?

I hate it. Grew up on a farm, been there done that. Won't stay anywhere without room service and a good bar at the very bare minimum.

Howhottoday · 30/06/2023 00:07

I love the outdoors part and the fresh mornings, toasting marshmallows at night…but I hate the toilet being far and the uncomfortableness of it all now

GameOverBoys · 30/06/2023 00:09

I love camping and go often. If I won the euro-millions I’d probably get a glamping pod or a bell tent they put up for you though.

If it is all set up and packed away for me love!

HarpyValley · 30/06/2023 00:12

I don’t mind being outdoors - love walks along a beach out of season, or through a wood or country park - but I’d rather eat someone else’s toenail clippings than go camping. I want where I stay on my breaks to be at least as comfortable as my bed at home, not less so.

Two different questions in my book.

I hate camping.

I love being outdoors.

wildfirewonder · 30/06/2023 00:14

I don't like it much. I love being out in nature, just not keen on camping due to back pain.

PuttingDownRoots · 30/06/2023 00:15

I'd enjoy rather than endure camping if it came with proper beds and there weren't Other People camping nearby.

Its worth it for the family time etc.

Love camping - we lived in Australia for years and the facilities are brilliant. Flinders Ranges, amazing stars, pitches with Dutch ovens and griddles.

Campsites in the UK practically on the beach, make sure we book a quiet site, evenings playing cards and drinking wine either under the stars or with the sound of rain on canvas.

toomuchlaundry · 30/06/2023 00:17

Hate camping but like the outdoors (as long as not too far from a loo!)

SoWhatEh · 30/06/2023 00:22

I love being outdoors but hate sleep deprivation being passed off as a holiday. How can a massively uncomfortable night's sleep be fun or set you up for a day of hiking or sightseeing?

HRTQueen · 30/06/2023 00:29

I hate camping

I love spending time outdoors

bringincrazyback · 30/06/2023 00:33

Hate camping. Way too basic.

Sounds like heaven 🥰

LOVE camping! Have taken my kids for last 14 years. Now they are older and less interested I'm very happy to camp alone. Big skies, campfire and a good book. Bliss!
I did take one of the DCs with 9 of their mates last year, although I camped a few pitches away and left them to it 😊

I lived on a farm for 15 years and spent another 10 Years living in a static caravan on a field but I still love camping and find hotels rooms stuffy and claustrophobic.

I am what you'd consider a "girlie girl", love make up and perfume, bubble baths every night and love a holiday in a nice hotel/apartment or villa but I LOVE camping.

We to every year in the summer, about 8 couples and the kids and we set up a marquee, BBQ, camping chairs to watch the shooting stars at night. I just adore it. I did invest in a double blow up bed though, one that is about 3ft from the floor and I take an old duvet and pillows. All the kids play outdoors whilst we drink wine and chill out. It's just lovely. We always book a campsite so we have electricity and a decent shower and toilet block though.

Can't go this year as have a newborn but will be going next with a 1 year old!

Yes definitely with a good book! Takes me back to childhood ❤️

@Mumtothreegirlies it really is! Waking up to the birds singing is lovely too, stepping out of the tent to somebody putting bacon and sausages on the bbq for breakfast, just lovely. We normally find somewhere close to a beach, Dorset was lovely. It's great fun. Wouldn't go for any more than 4-5 nights though!

frozendaisy · 30/06/2023 01:05

Love camping..
With others or just us. Never without coffee. Happy to pee next to tent at night.
Air beds with duvets and pillows.

It's a slower pace of life.

Doggydarling · 30/06/2023 01:09

Love it. Am in my 50's and only got back into it last year. Joined a fb group and we meet up to go camping, its great fun. Haven't been recently because sites are so busy this time of year and I prefer quietness.

coxesorangepippin · 30/06/2023 01:21

Yes, but we live abroad where the weather is decent

If it rains camping is terrible

TheCyclingGorilla · 30/06/2023 01:34

I've been glamping twice. I have decided in my 40s that a caravan is my absolute minimum, and one with a toilet included at that. I hate putting on wellies to pee. Especially in the middle of the night (I'm middle aged).
