What size shoe is your Year 5 DC?

Mine (10 year old boy) seems to have very small feet. He's a 13.

Everyone else I speak to - which granted isn't that many as it's a weird question to ask - have children with much bigger feet.

Just wanted a quick straw poll.

Adult 5

SallyWD · 26/06/2023 16:01

My son is year 5 and is 4.5. He's always had big feet. His sister is 12 and has size 6.5 feet

Greydogs123 · 26/06/2023 16:02

My year 5 dd is only size 1 - she is one of the smallest shoe size in her class (one child has smaller), but her friend who isn’t that much taller has size 5! I only have size 5 and her dad is only a size 8, so I wouldn’t expect her to have big feet. On the plus side I’ve never had to buy more than one pair of school shoes a year!

@lucylousweetie about 5ft 8, so short but not massively short. I'm only 5ft and DH is about 5ft 7 so he outgrew both of us. He has size 8 feet now he's an adult.

Yes there are still height differences in Y11 onwards but it's more noticeable when some have hit puberty and some haven't and seems less obvious once they all look more grown-up.

August-born year 5 DD is in size 5s and will probably need size 6s next year. She is on the 98th centile for height. None of this is much of a surprise as I am over 6' and have size 9 feet. Footwear is getting very expensive for us so enjoy the lack of VAT while you still can!

Sodie · 26/06/2023 16:12

Size 3. But I wouldn't sorry my 16yr old was a size 4 up until last May, he is now a 9!

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/06/2023 16:15

Not what you asked but my just turned 7, year 2 daughter is a size 13

LBOCS2 · 26/06/2023 16:30

Y5 DD1 is a size 2, and she's one of the tallest in the class.

But a friend of mine's son is a size 6. And one of DD's friends is a 12. This is the age where there's a massive difference in how quickly they grow - I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point.

Newuser75 · 26/06/2023 16:42

Year 5 son, size 4 feet. He is tall though.

toodlesofoodles · 26/06/2023 16:43

At 10 my ds was a 3. Is he on the shorter side? I'd expect smaller feet if so.

WhisperingAutistic · 26/06/2023 16:43

Mines in year 4 and and adult size 3

FrenchFancie · 26/06/2023 16:45

My October born DD in year five is a 1.5, coming up to a size 2. She’s a bit short for her year group, some of the girls have started to shoot in, but she hasn’t started that growth spurt yet!

Jackiebrambles · 26/06/2023 16:45

My year 5 ds (10 years old) is in size 1.5 and has been for ages, our neighbour’s son is 8 and has bigger feet than him! My daughter is only size 12.5 (she’s in year 3). Small feet that grow slowly seems to be my kids. They are both on the small side in their classes, though definitely not the smallest.

Paddingtonthebear · 26/06/2023 16:45

Age 10 girl, sloe growing feet, in a size 2.5 and has had the same shoes all school year. Her Friends range from size 12 (smallest girl in class) up to adult size 6 and I have heard of a couple of boys who are size 8 already.

toodlesofoodles · 26/06/2023 16:45

Just had a look at past shoe purchases and dd was a 2 in y4. I'm a size 4 and tall so they obviously don't take after me!

Mawface · 26/06/2023 16:46

Ds 10 almost 11 is a size 6 and ds 7 is a size 1.5

5childrenand · 26/06/2023 16:47

That is small.

My y4 ds is a 4 and his sister was a 3-4 during y5. I think they have fairly big feet but can only think of one (v short) child in my ds’s class who isn’t in adult sizes yet.

MuggleMe · 26/06/2023 16:47

Y4 DD adult size 2/3. I'm a 4 but DH is a 14!

Foxesandsquirrels · 26/06/2023 16:50

I'd say that's very very unusual.

Oldandcobwebby · 26/06/2023 16:53

DD is in year 5 with size 13 feet. She's a bit small for her age in general.

Violinist64 · 26/06/2023 16:55

My children are grown up now but all had small feet. My daughter started school in infant size 6 and went into year 7, aged 11 1/2 wearing size 13 1/2. As an adult she takes size 2. My husband and adult sons take size 7 and I take size 4.

whitemoonstone · 26/06/2023 16:56

6 but she’s very tall.

Bemyclementine · 26/06/2023 16:58

Sounds like you've just got small footed children. Ds1 is nearly 8 and a 2, ds2 is 6 and a 13.5.

HonorHiding · 26/06/2023 17:02

That’s very dinky OP!

DS is just 11 and end of Y6 - he’s 5ft 2in with size 6 feet. A year ago (turning 10 at end of Y5) he was 4ft 11in with size 5 feet.

mogtheexcellent · 26/06/2023 17:06

Fairly tall DD is Y4 Summer born and a 3.
