What things do you wish were socially acceptable?

I wish that you could ask random people to bring their dogs(And other animals) round for a playdate.(With me) I see so many new dogs and I wish people would bring them to my door so I could meet them.

Likewise with newborn babies.

I also wish that it was ok to ask everyone's name or to wear name badges. I'm fascinated by first names and I always want to ask baby and children's names and why the parents chose them.

What do you wish was socially acceptable?

That in the UK we could be more forthright, more direct, more Dutch if you will. Our indirectness, pussyfooting can be quite tiresome. Would it be alright if, could I, would you mind. I know it's drilled in to us that it's polite. I, too, do it. But directness has much to recommend it.

Visible body hair of various types for women
Getting changed eg at the beach without worrying about hiding everything

IsItHalfTermYetHelp · 21/06/2023 22:01

Looking like you actually look as a woman. Leg hair. Grey head hair. Eyebrows (huge or non existent depending). Stretch marks. Whatever your natural skin tone is without wanting it to be darker or lighter. Wrinkles. Why is it that men don’t have to dye/wax/pluck/paralyse bits of themselves before they can go out in public but so many women refuse to leave the house without straightening their slightly wavy hair?

Autism

Framboisery · 21/06/2023 22:06

Asking complete strangers where they got their shoes and other items of clothing from.

Maybe that is socially acceptable ?? But its rare.

Nomorenonbinary · 21/06/2023 22:07

So what I'm getting from this is that most of you care way too much about what other people think of you.

Indeed, had a Dutch friend who lived in England , she was very blunt but you knew where you were with her.

Not wearing a bra when you have massive norks. Women with small tits have it SO much easier.

For me thats not about it being socially acceptable... I just cant do it. I dont even like sleeping without a bra. Those MFers weigh a tonne!!!!

notprincehamlet · 21/06/2023 22:09

Eat spaghetti like in Lady and theTramp, and lightly taser ostentatious vapers and people who park on pavements

angelicaelizapeggy · 21/06/2023 22:11

Body hair on women.. arm pits and legs

Parenting your child the way you want

I was going to post the converse - telling shit parents they actually need to parent their children rather than ignoring/gentle/useless parenting them.
maybe by stamping something on their forehead to alert other parents and children.

I’m often tempted to do this and I know most people would be flattered. But somehow I don’t do it.

Yes to being hairy and to to telling annoying colleagues to STFU. I will have to say something to one of them soon. I can’t concentrate when she’s around. When she’s not talking, she’s singing 😒

Eating the biscuits someone brought to a meeting. At my work someone will bring a pack, or a box of rocky roads, and everyone will resolutely ignore them.

Sod that. I'm the first to dive in!!

missingeu · 21/06/2023 22:16

Removing the food/crumbs trapped in bra after lunch. Being able to remove bra in the afternoon.

Bring your dog to work day.

KohlaParasaurus · 21/06/2023 22:16

Administering a painful but non-lethal electric shock to anyone I see dropping litter.

Oh, I’d love one of those and not just for litter louts. I can think of a few people who need a good zapping.

Bovrilla · 21/06/2023 22:19

Now see I think farting is 'more acceptable' than coughing.

Farting might smell but it won't make you actually ill, which coughing definitely can.

Definitely being able to say what you think without fear of recriminations. So many things I'd like to say ......

camelfinger · 21/06/2023 22:21

If you really need the loo when you’re out and about, to just be able to go and then clear it up, like we do with dogs.

Lesina · 21/06/2023 22:22

Punching people or just yelling Fuck Off you Cunt. I’d get through the data so much better.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 21/06/2023 22:23

Smoking. Everywhere.

Winding down your window at traffic lights to ask the complete stranger where they are heading?

I'm a nosy sod and always curious about this.

😂😂😂😂

Not wearing shoes in the office. Or anywhere! Being barefoot 24/7 would be amazing.

Absolutely

Windthebloodybobbinup · 21/06/2023 22:26

Licking my plate especially when there's delicious sauce left on it!

Yes to the dog thing! I love dogs but can’t have one… when I see my neighbours beautiful dogs looking through the window I always want to knock on the door and ask if they can come for a play date!

Kentkittypie · 21/06/2023 22:28

JaffaCake70 · 21/06/2023 20:42

This is definitely mine. To be able to just say no thanks would be bliss for me.

This can be done, not all the time but enough.

"I don't think I can make that I'll need to check". With a follow up of "no sorry it's as I thought I'm not able to come". Or even better just a quick -,"ah sorry I can't make this". The beauty is you can usually change your mind from a no to a yes - it much harder to go from a yes to no!

Obviously close friends/ family is harder but feasible in quite a few situations
