What things do you wish were socially acceptable?

I wish that you could ask random people to bring their dogs(And other animals) round for a playdate.(With me) I see so many new dogs and I wish people would bring them to my door so I could meet them.

Likewise with newborn babies.

I also wish that it was ok to ask everyone's name or to wear name badges. I'm fascinated by first names and I always want to ask baby and children's names and why the parents chose them.

What do you wish was socially acceptable?

Dogs allowed everywhere

Yes love this!

PrawnSalads · 21/06/2023 19:33

I'm loving these.

I also wish that it was acceptable to ask strangers in restaurants what they're eating if it looks nice.

Jogging/skipping instead of walking to get places! So much quicker

Whenever I see a child skipping, I always think how funny it would be if adults skipped about.😅

Stylish dressing. Well it is in France or Italy.

I’ve always said I’d enjoy my job far more if I could speak to my colleagues like my kids 😂

”I said no, and that’s final”
”Pack it in, now”
”I have already told you to stop doing that”

I love this. I often sense myself wanting to slip into "Mum mode" at work, but have to rein myself in!

@PrawnSalads DD's social worker brings her dog at DD's request when she meets up with DD. DD's other SW brings her MILs dog. Smile

gogomoto · 21/06/2023 19:41

@PrawnSalads

I've asked people in restaurants what they are eating, perfectly acceptable (unless very posh I suppose)

Bartering - if you see a dress you love but you're skint, it'd be great if you could negotiate a non- money agreement.

I wish I could pull lads trousers up, like you do with a toddler, when they wear the waistband half down their bum.

Seconded.

Winding down your window at traffic lights to ask the complete stranger where they are heading?

I'm a nosy sod and always curious about this.

I always want to offer pedestrians lifts, especially if they have heavy shopping or its bad weather but I'm scared they'll think I'm crazy or kill me

Narutocrazyfox · 21/06/2023 19:44

Not wearing shoes in the office. Or anywhere! Being barefoot 24/7 would be amazing.

ArtixLynx · 21/06/2023 19:46

Eating in public while fat.

Exercising/using the Gym equipment while Fat.

Diddykong · 21/06/2023 19:46

Eating the biscuits someone brought to a meeting. At my work someone will bring a pack, or a box of rocky roads, and everyone will resolutely ignore them.

ZoeyBartlett · 21/06/2023 19:49

Wearing my slippers in the office. I once thought my friend was as she had some fluffy mules on and was v excited but turned out to be some fancy Gucci things.

I’m the first to dive in “let’s get these open!” Then everyone else will have a munch too

but on a lighter note.

Walking around school/office barefoot. I love shoes, but i hate wearing them!

To be able to sing as you walk along, or sitting at your desk

cushioncovers · 21/06/2023 19:52

Telling someone when they have stinky breath

I always take my shoes off at work - and I often sing 😄

little labels in art galleries and museums saying how much stuff is worth

knocking and asking politely for a wee look around attractive/interesting houses, just if they’re not busy, to get ideas, nothing sinister

Running like Phoebe in Friends - more of a whole-body workout

Baneofmyexistence · 21/06/2023 20:01

Telling people they are being a dick.

Many years ago I was struggling to carry a heavy rucksack and 2 carrier bags and a very kind lady stopped and offered me a lift , I accepted it was only a few mins drive but would if been a hard half hr walk .
I am not saying it was the most sensible thing for either one of us to do but I am so glad we both did it. It restored my faith in human kindness
