Boris stands down as MP with immediate effect part 3

1000 replies

DuncinToffee · 18/06/2023 16:56

Tomorrow is the Commons vote on the Privileges Committee's findings that Boris Johnson deliberately misled Parliament over Downing Street parties during lockdown

The vote is a free vote rather than being whipped either way. Tories have been told that the vote will be a one-line whip, meaning they will not be obliged to participate.

Boris Johnson is believed to have advised his backers to not vote against it.

Michael Gove confirmed on live tv that he will abstain

Tobias Elwood has u-turned on abstaining after hearing stories from voters

Rishi Sunak, who knows

It was Shaun Baileys name on the invitation!
But you are right he was unelected. 😀

'So Janiie, how do you feel about the latest revelations around the absolutely and definitely not a work do which is shown in the video and for which the invitation has now been shown'

Show me one with ministers not an unelected bunch of folk and I'll join your pitchfork waving.

No you wouldn’t. You’ve done this before - set conditions then when they’re met decided imaginary forces are at work. Bit like the three legged donkey you insist on backing.

Ah, I see. It's back to the 'well, Boris probably didn't know about it' defence. Honestly, the Boris Brigade have zero moral standards - both on here and in the Commons right now.

Well if the pot plants assured him was alright, who are we to argue?

@Janiie are you saying that Boris Johnson wasn't Minister for Pot Plants at the time of his illegal birthday party that he subsequently lied about 3 years ago?

I have laboured under the impression all this time that he was.

'you sound like a school ma’am. ‘We don’t call people bints’, give over. Your eyes won’t drop out of your head reading language you don’t like.'

The double standards ars staggering. You should apply for a job with Keith and Angie you'll fit in well. Oh no hang on we can't use silly names, just offensive ones like 'bint' Grin.

You’ve quite literally (the traditional definition) displayed your own hypocrisy by trying to police language because you think it elevates your position.

It doesn’t.

Feel free to bust out some name calling yourself (I know how much you love your ‘teehee’ moments), just be sure you can defend your position when people call you out on your reasoning.

Notonthestairs · 19/06/2023 17:53

“What I can tell the right hon and learned gentleman is that all guidance was followed completely in No 10.”

They weren't wearing masks or observing social distancing and it was the most fined address in the country.

'Imaginary forces' 🤔. Can't recall ever suggesting that but carry on making stuff up if you like in the absence of actual facts.

She was very good wasn't she in the face of all the faux outraged cat's bum faced opposition benches.

Ah calling people bints is not on, but calling them cat's bum faced is OK. Gotcha.

Keep the derail attempts coming if you like, all the do is make you appear to be devoid of the ability to participate in a proper discussion.

StormShadow · 19/06/2023 17:53

Cornettoninja · 19/06/2023 17:42

You have. Repeatedly.

Unfortunately there’s a lot of people trying to restore the trust issues created higher up the food chain than that.

You seem to be preoccupied with bailing out the sink rather than fixing broken washer.

Not sure that's quite the reason...

But to consider the question seriously, Jenkins is a Tory and thus there's a clear risk that escalating this issue further feeds into the narrative about arrogant Tories shitting on restrictions. So the likeliest candidates to try and make an issue of it here are Tories who are more interested in supporting Boris than in party interests as a whole. They'd either need to be not standing in the next GE or feel confident that the risk was worth the benefit. Is Nadine there?

Can you also not recall @Janiie why you think it acceptable for the Prime Minister to lie to parliament about his illegal birthday party?

I suspect many Johnson supporters are not Conservative supporters - otherwise they would be a lot more worried about the perception of their party.

There are definitely a few of them putting support of him ahead of wider party interests. Though nowhere near as many as he'd evidently hoped!

Have you got it, have you really? I don't think so. Here let me help. Anyone, man or woman can be 'cats bum faced' is an expression bit like a 'bulldog chewing a wasp', it descibes someone disapproving in an ott fashion. Whereas 'bint' is a misogynistic slur. Pm me if you get stuck on anything else

Johnson, as an archetypal OE, was & is anaethema to most Scottish folk. I'm English born (Scottish residing some 30 years) & I've never seen such a tin.

The English (or a lot of them) are easily duped by either toffs or eccentric buffoons. From Jimmy Savile to Boris Johnson, the schtick is all too familiar.

@Janiie I'm stuck on why you think Boris Johnson should be allowed to have illegal birthday parties and then lie about them, I'll pm you about it.
