Boris stands down as MP with immediate effect part 3

1000 replies

DuncinToffee · 18/06/2023 16:56

Tomorrow is the Commons vote on the Privileges Committee's findings that Boris Johnson deliberately misled Parliament over Downing Street parties during lockdown

The vote is a free vote rather than being whipped either way. Tories have been told that the vote will be a one-line whip, meaning they will not be obliged to participate.

Boris Johnson is believed to have advised his backers to not vote against it.

Michael Gove confirmed on live tv that he will abstain

Tobias Elwood has u-turned on abstaining after hearing stories from voters

Rishi Sunak, who knows

Oh Lord, the reporting’s started again, has it? So predictable. I saw your post @Zonder and couldn’t agree more.

Thanks Blossom. Not really sure why my post was deleted. I guess someone is quick on the button!

To be honest @jgw1 I never call him Boris personally. Don't want to feed that pally buffoon image. He'll always be Johnson to me. Along with all the connotations that brings, especially for our American friends 😆

Similar to Rish! some people seem to be offended by calling Johnson Big Dog.

But then there are some that still argue that all Johnson had was some soggy sandwiches at work, and he did nothing wrong. Despite all the evidence in the world they won't change their mind or explain why he is their hero.

Kiwano · 30/06/2023 12:45

Hilarious that Goldsmith is trying to tell Sunak off for costing them votes. This is the man who lost when he stood as candidate for mayor. He managed to turn a 23K majority in 2015 into a loss in the 2019 election when the Conservatives elsewhere were winning seats no-one thought they could possibly win. He's not exactly a reliable authority on what it takes to attract votes.

Hello janiie, i havent seen you around for a week or so.

@jgw1 I saw that on another thread, it's really interesting isn't it?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 30/06/2023 13:00

Goldsmith is emblematic of what is wrong in British politics. Twice the British public said very clearly 'no we don't want you to govern us'. So Johnson elevated him to the Lords and now he gets to permanently govern without the inconvenience of having to be elected.

I find it fascinating how these things are all entwined and one can only wonder how much they seep into all our lives.

Both are names they coined themselves for themselves unlike the terms of endearment Janiie likes to use.

No comments from her on the actual reports, I notice

I'm a brit living and working in the EU. I had all of my bank accounts shut down thanks to Farage's brexit. Karma's a bitch.

DuncinToffee · 30/06/2023 13:58

from a tweet underneath

Rishi Sunak only taking questions from newspapers that support the government… Only The Times, Telegraph, Sun and Mail allowed questions.

I saw him whinging yesterday. Of course there is no obligation on any bank to take his business unless it's contrary to law. Maybe he'll claim his human rights are being abused ?

He won't fuck off, off course. As much as nature abhors him, it abhors a vacuum even more, and there are plenty of other right wing self serving wankstains just queuing up to be sucked off into that space.

pointythings · 30/06/2023 14:27

Banks are allowed to close accounts and refuse business on nothing more than suspicion of dodgy dealings so Nige pretty much asked for it.

Oh Karma, how I love you.

And we have a government of cowards who would like nothing more than to stifle press freedom until only their arse licking sycophants remain.

'But Sue Gray'

Acoba clears Sue Gray to work as Keir Starmer’s chief of staff after 6 months gardening leave:

* No evidence her impartiality was impaired

* Contact with Starmer in October 2022 was not improper

* Says govt briefings against Gray risked damaging ‘fair & confidential’ process

They're probably a kangaroo body full of Harriet Harmanalikes and other people who hate Johnson.

DuncinToffee · 30/06/2023 15:05

Well yes, they dared to reprimand Johnson for not following the correct procedure re his DM job

I read that the DM is suffering from buyers regret.....🎻

Nigel Farage has been told by his bank that it is shutting down all his accounts, after claims in the House of Commons that he had received more than half a million pounds in payments from the Russian broadcaster RT

OP posts:

Yes, saw that earlier. Likewise Richard Tice. It’s a strong message, isn’t it?

Poor persecuted Nige.

Our Phil has reminded us that Farage - as a PEP - is subject to a higher bar for money laundering checks etc.

And our laws make the bank liable for any slips in checking.

Sorry, I was quoting from Zonder's link but somehow it posted only that bit of my post.

I meant to highlight the Russian money

I don't refer to Mr Johnson as Big Dog. I respect dogs, who are by and large faithful honest creatures. Unlike Mr Johnson.

I was surprised that The Paper that Supported the Blackshirts decided to given him a column though, as he is not right wing enough for them.
