I’ve seen threads before about what OPs you remember for whatever reason, but thought I’d ask what replies have stuck with you?

Every morning and night when I wash my face I remember a comment on a thread about hot cloth cleansing where someone replied “I’ve been hot cloth cleansing ever since it was called washing your face with a flannel”. Always makes me chortle 😂

OP posts:

A covid post, where someone was berated for wanting milk in tea when cheese would do.

Being in a bad relationship slowly erodes you, like water over a stone.

Oh, and the poster who replied to a question about a buggy; it was a question she herself had asked three years earlier…

Definitely the best one!

One where someone was asking for advice about wanting to leave their partner who was abusive but would threaten suicide every time she said she was leaving. Poster replied something like, yeah I had one who used to say that… “spoiler alert, the bastard is very much still alive”

SandyLand · 17/06/2023 19:22

The really nasty, shitty ones accusing me of being a bad mother. What a bunch of stupid, smug, vile b*tches, kicking someone when they’re down. Bet they’re nasty little MFs too in real life and a plague on all their houses!

The posts who helped me with a possible bed bug problem (that wasn’t). So giving and helpful of advice at the time, probably saved me £100s as I was going ballistic about my bites.

midsomermurderess · 17/06/2023 19:29

Generally, ‘did you mean to be so rude’: utter dimwittery. And the prissy little ’no is a complete sentence’.

treacledan71 · 17/06/2023 19:33

The one when a lady was asking if her kids had too many snacks. One person said she had never once let her kids have crisps think they were about 10 and another had never heard of a freddo. Hate the ones too when people just say parent properly when people ask for advice.

Ragwort · 17/06/2023 19:34

'It's an invitation not a summons' regarding all the angst over wedding invitations ... I think I might have been the original poster using it ... been here over 22 years Grin

Recent one, in response to quick easy ideas to make rolls for 40 people on the go, someone recommended a thermos of gravy to make French dip sandwiches Smile

SandyLand · 17/06/2023 19:38

I forgot to add, one where a woman suspected her husband of visiting male prostitutes. It was a few years ago now. Not just suspecting him of it, but had real evidence of. They had a long marriage. It seemed also an amazing lifestyle, family life, etc, and she seemed like a really lovely, intelligent woman. It was one of the more bizarre threads I read on Mumsnet. It was so full of shock and confusion and sadness.

A covid post, where someone was berated for wanting milk in tea when cheese would do.

Never happened.
What happened was far less interesting.
A poster was worried about her toddler getting enough calcium if fresh milk became unavailable. Posters made other suggestions about good sources of protein including cheese.
The anti lockdown posters mangled what was said, and a false legend was born.
