as you have no idea what protocols are in place now compared to back then - you can not comment.

And are you accusing one of my colleagues as being a rapist - who? Which one of my shift members is a rapist?????

Th more I read your posts the more I wonder if you are a clever feminist plant.

No one has done more to make people think the police are heartless arseholes on here than you. It's a one-man shit-fest.

Well fucking done.

Thank you @ChateauMargaux

As I said in the title, he has been charged. With three counts of rape and 6 counts of indecent assault.

The bar for the CPS to bring charges is incredibly high.

There are far more rapes than ever get reported

It's been explained above why the bar isn't high at all for this kind of offence.

By asking someone when it happened.....?

Yes. And if you don't know why that is, I can't be bothered to explain it to you. Try empathy, just a tiny amount, try to understand.

@Ihateboris Thankyou. Thankfully I'm no longer a teenager that the police or anyone can fob off. I grew up got a lawyer and I will not stop until I get justice against him and the police.

I totally applaud you! 👏

for both yourself and what you’re doing for other female victims.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 16/06/2023 14:50

I'd very much like to know how @onefinemess gleans this belief/knowledge that it is so very easy to get the CPS to prosecute with no evidence purely on 'a convincing narrative', particularly a historical event like their example.

It is not my experience, but perhaps I wasn't 'convincing' enough. I strongly suspect it is a load of balls.

Felix125 · 16/06/2023 14:56

BewareTheBeardedDragon
From a cynical point of view - CPS don't want to make the decision, so will pass it to the court. They will charge on the lower threshold test.

coffeedrinkers · 16/06/2023 14:56

@Brefugee Thankyou, and everyone else that believes me. I'm not going into details because it's an open case (30 years to late but whatever) I'd love to tell you all that things have changed but in my experience that's really not been the case over the last 5 years. To any police reading this go ahead defend yourself and I'll probably see some of you in court shortly! Thank fuck for lawyers who stand by women!
I'm not going to post anymore because it's making me to angry. Peace and solidarity to anyone who needs it and gets it x

Felix125 · 16/06/2023 14:58

Things have changed though, procedures have changed, protocols have changed. Support services are very different now to back then. We never had SARC units back then. SOCO changes in what they can do and achieve.

If you don't know what those changes are - you can't really compare.

You do what you need. We applaud you. And if the police weren't rotten they would too. You will make them better.

Don't talk to me. I don't want to reply and get banned for saying what I actually think of your tone-deaf justifications and obfuscations.

TheHandmaiden · 16/06/2023 15:01

These offences carry life sentences. What a horror this man is if true.

ChateauMargaux · 16/06/2023 15:03

GreenIsMyFavoriteColour .. the statistics do not support the assertion that the CPS will prosecute based on a 'convincing narrative' nor that the 'bar is not high at all.'.

And @Felix125 .. rape support charities estimate that up to 90% of cases remain unreported and crime statistics show that 3% of cases in 2022 were prosecuted. That does not support the assertion that women feel like the can report rape without further trauma or that they will receive justice from the judicial system.

The fact that you suggest that 97% of rape reports are not convincing is insulting.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 16/06/2023 15:09

Quite. I would love to think that the posters in question might take some time to really think through the implications of what they assert in combination with the statistics. Sadly I'm sure they won't. If they don't, it does however mean that they believe that 97% of those who report rapes are lying. And that belief says an awful lot about them.

are you still here?
why aren't you and all your perfect colleagues going round all the other forces telling them how you are the single only unique force with zero misogyny and zero sexists?

We have had this before. I have been in uniform. We have heard on various threads from female current and ex-coppers. It is rife. It is everywhere.

The fact that you simply don't notice it tells us everything we need to know about the kind of officer you are.

So there have been changes…..

what’s the excuse that a bruised raped woman is brave enough to walk into a police station and the police must believe “she likes it tough”, why? What’s the excuse? What investigations took place, because it looks like fuck all!! Why is the word of a rapist accepted and not the victim? Yes innocent until proven guilty, but that would mean actually investigating?

Rotten to the fucking core then and still are!

The whole “establishment” is a disgrace.

lordloveadog · 16/06/2023 15:16

Procedures have not improved. Hardly any rapists are convicted now.

Our friend in blue helps us understand why.

Brefugee · 16/06/2023 15:20

it takes a certain amount of absolute pig-headedness to come on here and tell us (time and time again) that we can't make pre-judgements, we don't know, and that their particular force has zero bad apples.

When we know that the likelihood is that it is not true.
@coffeedrinkers (sorry to tag but i really want you to hear this) good luck. We believe you. We support you. You are amazing and what you are doing will help many other women and girls who have not been believed.

Where have I said this?

ChateauMargaux · 16/06/2023 15:38

@Felix125 ... I am sorry, I mixed up the posters who are suggesting rape victims are believed and supported by the judiciary ..... it was @onefinemess who said.. 'The CPS will authorise a charge in respect of a sexual offence on the basis of "a convincing narrative" ' .. and based on 2,000 prosecutions out of 72,000 reports in 2021/22.. which means 97% of reports did not reach the bar set by the CPS. You implied that women would be believed and supported in your area.. the statistics do not support this.

ChateauMargaux · 16/06/2023 15:43

If changes have been made and only 3% of reports are prosecuted, I would suggest that those changes are nowhere near sufficient.

Imnotahoarderreally · 16/06/2023 15:50

The police are just thugs in uniforms.
During the miners strike my db saw an officer pick a boy of about 9 up and throw him hard onto the road, the boy had smirked at him.
He also saw miners being thrown into a police van and the police officers arms appearing in the window and disappear again over and over as they beat the victims.
