Of course you are. If we only listen to opinions or information that echo what's already in our head, then we can never expand outside our own world. We can all learn from other people's experience and knowledge. It's good to be challenged by other people's opinions, as long as they're not abusive or oppressive. That's how we test and develop our own beliefs.
@Nightlystroll there is a difference between people I respect, and who I believe have the courage of their convictions, are intelligent and thoughtful and I disagree with, and barking sea lions who spam all over spaces because they can't bear women talking without being told off.
Ironically, one of the people in the first camp in my life is a police officer, ex-Army, conservative (both C and c). I disagree with him about pretty much everything. Politics, religion, history, everything. But I do believe he is an ethical man, believes what he says, wants the best for the world. When I have needed him, he has gone above and beyond, including when I asked for people in vulnerable groups. I think I would trust him with my life. What he said about this case is unrepeatable. For once, he and I completely agree.
