What has the handyman done with my nightdress?!

I can't find my nightie anywhere! Had a handyman round this morning just to address a couple of patches of damp, one of them being in my bedroom, on the wall close to the en suite.

I hang my nightie and dressing gown on the back of the en suite door every morning, and on the other side of the door I have an old evening dress that belonged to my dm.

I was rushing out this morning and didn't think about moving the clothes off the door. Came back earlier to find he's moved my dressing gown and my dm's dress over to the hooks on the bedroom door. But there's no sign of my nightie.

Im not suggesting for a minute anything dodgy has gone on but - where is it?! Did I, without thinking, put it somewhere? If so, I still can't find it!

I am so invested now.

I own loads of black clothes and often mistake a pair of jeans for a jumper etc./

Have you thought it was something else on your bed and hung it up or put it in a bag???

ThreeRingCircus · 13/06/2023 22:26

Well, if it's absolutely nowhere to be found then the only plausible explanation is that he's taken it, surely. As grim as that is 😬

He’s wearing it and he’s re named himself Brenda.

Rightsraptor · 13/06/2023 22:51

He's taken it and you definitely won't be wanting it back.

I always lock my underwear, nightwear, tights even, away in a suitcase if any man is working upstairs in my house.

It doesn't matter how nice you think he is.

If it helps, my husband once stole a ladies silky dressing gown in a panic. It had been hanging on something when he was an apprentice and he'd failed to move it before plastering. He got plaster on the gown. Brought it home to clean and return. I was mortified and explained that 1. She'd notice 2. She'd now think he was a weird perv! 3. It needed dry cleaning not a round in with surf and lenor!

He confessed and returned it still (literally) plastered. Then took the days pay to offer her for dry clean.

Maybe if it was hanging out your handy man got silicone or plaster or something on it. Benefit of the doubt.

Ps- he now demands all personal effect removed and uses sheets religiously. Lesson learned.

softsweets · 13/06/2023 23:04

I reckon he's used to it either clean up (his DIY) with or as emergency loo roll ... and had to smuggle it out into the bin!

FuckStonewall · 13/06/2023 20:15

Took it home to wank onto.

This, love the username as well.

Perhaps he was clearing up from whatever DIY he was doing and used it to clean with then though "shit!! I have to take it now" and smuggled it out.

That what I think too.

I'm sorry, but you need to say goodbye to your nightdress

You know you're dealing with a strange situation when the above statement is of help.

Under your pillow?

scoobydoo1971 · 14/06/2023 00:13

I left a few bits of clothing in a property development I was working on a few years ago. Nothing sexy. Just cardigans and thermal socks etc for the very cold days. A few bits went missing and I just assumed they were chucked out during a building clear up. But a little later, the tradesman who took them tried to hit on me. He told me he had been running his fingers through my clothing, and smelling it. I was a mix of disgust and amusement. I sacked him. I found another worker who wasn't so fond of my jumpers!

Mumsnut · 14/06/2023 00:14

Did you put it in the wash?

Underminer · 14/06/2023 01:20

I remember that programme about the workman. I also had a friend whose husband had to fire a labourer who helped himself to a pair of ladies undercrackers from every house they worked in. Labourer got drunk one night and told him about his collection.
I also lock away any undies, tights etc in a suitcase if we have male workmen working upstairs.

Also are you sure your partner hadn't chucked it secretly bc he winds it unattractive?

WandaWonder · 14/06/2023 01:32

Didn't this exact thing happen a few months ago?

Feraldogmum · 14/06/2023 02:32

Do you think it’s in the handyman’s size?😜

user1492757084 · 14/06/2023 02:36

Could he have used it as quick to grab rag for mopping water?
Just ask if he put it somewhere - and also ask your boys.

SixOClock · 14/06/2023 02:43

Has he accidentally built it in to anything? Check for black lace peeping out behind the plaster.
