Doesn't make him any less of a Brexiteer.

And it is irrelevant as to whether Johnson lied to parliament

SerendipityJane · 15/06/2023 15:41

Funny how Brexit is still the focus of UK politics, 7 years after it was voted on, and over 3 years after it was done.

Especially when you recall that one of "project fears" warnings that was snorted down (a phrase I use with careful precision) was that it would jam up UK parliament for years.

Seems about right to me. Especially when you consider that whoever wins the next election (although we know who it won't be) will start off with .... more Brexit negotiations.

All of which removes parliamentary time and effort from all the other things this country desperately needs addressing.

Look, it's very simple. The privileges committee was great, with it's Tory majority and all, until it failed to whitewash St. Boris the Fibber. At that point it became a bunch of tofu eating woke kangaroos, because it's fine for a Prime Minister to lie repeatedly to Parliament. If it's Saint Boris, that is.

There, summed up Janiie 's position. No more needs to be said.

For me though, it still doesn't really explain why a 56 year old needed regular parties and booze in order to do a little bit of work.

Along with Dorries. How did anyone look at either of them and think yeah, you would be a great representative of our party, you should stand for election?

I disagree - if Nadine Dorries was a Labour MP people wouldn't think twice.

Zonder posted that not me.

But I'm pleased my posts are so interesting and thought provoking you remember my name. Grin

While children were being starved, beaten, and tortured to death; while women were being murdered by serving police officers; while the country faced foes it had never countenanced before ....

all Brexiteers could do was worry about the colour of their fucking passports.

And we are supposed to respect these fuckcunts ? Do me a favour.

Kiwano · 15/06/2023 16:04

In an interview with GB News, the Johnson ultra-loyalist slammed the inquiry’s report, which he said contained “no real sanction”,

Is he (JRM) complaining that the committee hasn't punished Johnson more? Has he noticed that the 90 day suspension is only "no real sanction" because his hero has run away from it like the coward he is? I mean, if he wants Johnson to be chucked in the Tower, I'm sure we can oblige.

itsgettingweird · 15/06/2023 16:07

IClaudine · 15/06/2023 10:16

The "analysis" by Johnson's team conveniently misses out the salient point: he lied to Parliament.

Exactly.

30,000 words. But all they were looking into was if he knowingly misled parliament.

I actually did a little dance when I saw they added 2 points about his conduct the past week!

Why were so many politicians and advisors catching Covid if they were working safely? Keir Starmer and Chris Whitty for two?
I wonder how people will view this period in 50 years time. In Italy Berlusconi had bunga bunga parties and survived and Johnson had a bit of cake and was destroyed politically. I say good riddance to BJ but all this hooha is ridiculous. It's still all about Brexit isn't it.

You may not have noticed this, but it was quite possible to catch Covid other than at work, you know.

LlynTegid · 15/06/2023 16:09

For once I agree with Jacob Rees-Mogg. Whilst better than nothing, it is no real sanction.

Take away Mr Johnson's UK citizenship. He was born in the US so can be a citizen there, or possibly France, as his wife-beating dad is one and has not been disowned by Mr Johnson.

Notonthestairs · 15/06/2023 16:10

Brexit didnt make Johnson repeatedly lie to the House of Commons.
Nor did it make him lie to the Committee.
Or release confidential information.
Or resign.

Johnson's oven ready deal bought him incredible freedom and a wildly supportive media base. He squandered the lot.

LlynTegid · 15/06/2023 16:12

Silvio Berlusconi had no morals, but actually managed to change a political system and bring a bit of stability. Before him, the joke used to be that everyone in Italy got a turn at being Prime Minister.

Boris Johnson is much much worse.

Chris Whitty worked shifts on covid wards

Keir Starmer is married to someone who works in the NHS [non-clinical role]

Kiwano · 15/06/2023 16:14

Talking of Brexit - it's fascinating that one of the things Brexit supporters banged on about repeatedly was sovereignty and the supremacy of Parliament. Given that a substantial cross-section of them still support Johnson, I wonder if they've noticed a teensy degree of inconsistency there?

The one time Boris Johnson did not lie in public office was when he renounced his US citizenship.

He wanted to, but was advised the State Department publishes details of all citizens who renounce their citizenship. After some rather fruity exchanges, Boris said it was worth it to avoid paying "that twat Trump a cent in tax".

This ridiculous report tells us nothing that we didn't know

Tbf to @janie this is true. We all knew Johnson is a barefaced liar.

🧐🤩

The best way to characterise Brexiteers in MN terms is as narcissistic gaslighting controlling and abusive spouses. These are the sort of scum who will stand over a body that has been beaten to a pulp and say "look what they made me do".

Oh stop being silly. They aren't narcissistic, controlling or abusive. I know both remainers and leavers and tbh you can't tell one from another. They've all moved on, maybe you should try it.

Do you believe that Boris Johnson lied to Parliament?

NEW Monday's vote on the Privileges report will be a one line whip, which means MPs do not have to turn up. And it is a few vote, too.

The expectation from Tory MPs I have spoken to is that most will abstain to avoid annoying Johnson supporters in their constituencies.

The pause after your previous mail @DuncinToffee was so heavy and full of portent that I thought an answer was forthcoming.

@Janiie would you mind answering my question, please?

I will just ask once more on the off chance janiie feels brave enough to reply. Janiie, how did you get to see <some not all> nhs staffrooms where there was dancing and takeaways?

Now it's official - no matter what the deluded think - I see the families of people who died from Covid while Boris was whooping it up are demanding an apology.

Obviously they won't get it from Boris. But there will have to be some delicate handling of the situation to avoid them being told to go fuck themselves.
