At 9.30am, I had to take my shoes off, as my feet were swelling so much, I was beginning to lose sensation in them. I just about managed to get a pair of flip flops on to be able to go home, and now I've got an hour to make the spare room cool enough that I can sit through a two hour meeting without anything affecting the sound.
All through the day, people were coming in and then not closing the door so that the maximum hot air could come in from the other rooms.
I've told a staff member who looked fit to drop that I'll cover for her in the meeting so she can just go home and rest.
I've got to twat about moving a huge chair, the fan and aircon unit, get the laptop and equipment set up and then sit in front of it talking about data drops and buckets (not of the iced water holding type, unfortunately) when I would far rather be sat in a cold bath for the next three hours.
On a positive note, what has helped is
Long moisture wicking cycle shorts instead of normal underwear.
Extra strength cream antiperspirant over every skin fold and from hip to back of knees.
Sunblock everywhere. At least that stuff has improved in recent years.
