People couldn't visit their dying relatives. It was a highly sensitive and emotional time, I can't believe you think NHS 'having fun' filming their silly dances whilst at work was appropriate just because it wasn't illegal. They seemed to be more like parties than soggy sarnies in the cabinet office that's for sure. Get some work done for goodness sake.

And who were caring for those people's relatives?

DuncinToffee · 12/06/2023 12:50

You really are scraping the barrel by telling NHS frontline workers to do some work

Presumably to know the sandwiches were soggy you must have been there.

It all makes sense now.

No no not 'nhs front line workers' of whom do a good job, rather the insensitive silly ones filming themselves doing dances in lockdown with people dying and wards full. Let's face it, twitter was full of them it sadly was not the odd rare clip.

If you are this indignant about nurses dancing when people couldn't visit their dying relatives, you have to accept that it wasn't OK for the PM to have his wife and interior decorator attending birthday cake gatherings, let alone hold Abba parties and invite his rallies round to Chequers. You can't have it both ways.

And you know those doing the dances didn't work hard, how?

Those videos show that work colleagues can have some fun at their place of work without breaking the law.

Whatever your opinion of the videos, they weren't doing anything illegal or lied about it.

A long while ago, my brother was lying in a coma in intensive care. He didn't survive. One day we went in to visit and the nurses were sitting at their station having some sort of party. My cousin was so incensed that she marched over and asked 'Can we join you?'. That has stayed with me for nearly 30 years. Forgive me if I don't think all medical staff are angels. You don't go to work to have fun. You go to do a job and earn money.

During covid hospitals were full of people doing very little work.
Don't you remember the news stories about it? All those patients filling them up not doing any work at all.

So you will join me in condemning Johnson for attending and permitting a series of illegal parties in Downing Street then.

Nobody is saying all medical staff are angels but they weren't doing anything illegal unlike those in No10

You have written about your traumatic experience with your brother before and I am sorry for that and how it has affected you but that has nothing to do with the tiktok dances during Covid.

pointythings · 12/06/2023 13:10

30 years ago the NHS didn't have staffing issues in the way it does now and did during COVID. You can't extrapolate from that one experience. People have been on so many threads setting out the reality of working in the NHS during the pandemic. No, NHS workers are not saints. That isn't in the job description. But maybe you should talk to some of the people who were on those wards at the time.

Flowers

There's a time and a place and I would suggest the staffroom is the place not in full view of grieving relatives.

Thanks. It wasn't even in a staffroom. It was at a desk in the ward. I've worked in the NHS and respect for patients is not universal to say the least.

Not to derail but what about big crim Nicola Grin.

@Janiie would you like to politely debate the reasons you think it was acceptable for Johnson to have an illegal birthday party whilst millions of children did not have parties?

thenovice · 12/06/2023 13:25

My baby sister's husband (a paramedic) died on duty during Covid, because he was refused PPE by the hospital admin while working in A&E. Can we at least be logical here? Whether Boris was prepared to risk a party for himself or not, makes not the slightest difference to other people's survival. They obviously thought lockdown rules would help save lives and "protect the NHS".

According to left wing Twitter it's a deliberate distraction technique orchestrated by the Tories and the Yoon supporting Scottish Polis. It surely must be a shock for Westminster journalists who have been blowing smoke up her arse for years.

Have you inadvertedly posted this on the wrong thread?

This thread is about Johnson, his lying and lawbreaking.

Notonthestairs · 12/06/2023 13:43

Johnson should have told the truth from the beginning.
As it was he layered lie upon lie until it collapsed in on him.

He has brought it all on himself.

He'll continue lying because that's what he does.

Oh yes it'll all be Westminster's fault. Probably Johnson's infact, his leaving shot to get the Scottish officers to arrest ThankyouNicola.

#PrayForLorraine in these very very troubling times.

If Nicola Sturgeon is found to have acted unlawfully and broken rules, she should face the consequences. As should Boris Johnson. Sauce for the goose.
