The charade of excuses issued by CCHW! Laughable.

Starmer asks about the honours list and repossessions/mortgages. Probably not quite the day to boast about how well they are doing on tackling inflation. STOP THE BOATS. Now Streeting has asked him to correct the record on the part about NHS waiting lists since claiming he’s bringing them down is untrue.

Stop the boots has been hugely successful with the collapse of Hunter wellies.

Rishi Sunak and Jeremy Hunt have now accepted that the UK may need to go into a RECESSION to have any chance of controlling price rises

No shit. What number was ‘grow the economy’?

The Conservatives love a recession
I've lived through many of them myself and it's brutal, but it doesn't really affect the rich.
They just clean up with cheaper houses and higher interest rates on their savings and investments. It's a win for a few , just not the many. That's how I've seen them come and go.
I feel for those with mortgages or young children
as we were once ourselves and nearly lost our house. It's not something that bothers the likes of Mr Sunak or Mr Hunt.

Well said

My DD is trying to get a mortgage with her DP, it's horrible at this time

Blossomtoes · 21/06/2023 22:46

To be honest @Roussette, anyone attempting to take on a new mortgage now needs their bumps felt. If ever there was a time to save every penny in a high interest account and wait for the market to settle, it’s now.

Yes Bloss you're probably right. It's just that there is a start to a journey with a life with two people (it's not been easy for my DD) and I am so sad they can't do it like they would want to do it

Blossomtoes · 21/06/2023 22:57

It is sad. I feel really, really sorry for our kids’ generation. They’ve been well and truly shafted.

tobee · 21/06/2023 23:58

So I see Martin Lewis has been into see Jeremy Hunt today.

the80sweregreat · 22/06/2023 07:13

I feel sorry for the younger generation too.
I doubt they will give any kind of mortgage help at all though.

itsgettingweird · 22/06/2023 07:22

I've told you before about my friend who's a staunch Tory supporter.

Often quotes stuff to me from the DM which I can easily put into context with statistics that tell a bigger story.

Her only conversation she's willing to have about the boats is "but we need to stop the Albanians".

Well this morning I give you ...... "it's the BOE fault for not raising interest rates sooner".

When I asked her who's fault it was they needed raising so dramatically and quickly in the first place she kept responding "but the should have raised them sooner".

Even when I said if you agree that that may have prevent some of the issues right now I'd still like to know who was responsible for the fact we needed to do this?

It was me of those times where no answer was the answer that gave most information!

I just find the whole thing so interesting when people are so tribal over a particular party they cannot see when they've done something wrong.

And it explains why the party aren't improving as you make progress by learning from your mistakes.

Roussette · 22/06/2023 07:43

@itsgettingweird

Are you sure we haven't got the same friend?!

I think the classic from mine was... 'sleeping on the streets is a lifestyle choice'

I kid you not....

And the mantra that gets repeated endlessly They are all as bad as each other

Depressing... and I do everything in my power not to talk politics and have got really good at changing the subject!

Often people on the streets have fought for queen/king and country.

That was a lifestyle choice. They decided to put their life on the line for our personal safety.

I agree with you that those parroted lines are so damaging to progress of the country - and from people who support a party who keep saying "do the best for British people".

And today we are celebrating Windrush as we should. Yet they cannot see the irony.

King Charles comments say a lot though!

itsgettingweird · 22/06/2023 08:05

And yes I get "they are all as bad as each other"

I don't get a response to "so tell me what Starmer and Davy have done that compares and I'll reconsider what Katy I vote for next time"

I'm still waiting Grin

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/06/2023 08:06

I think sthat was a cabinet minister on sky yesterday. It’s the BoE’s fault because they didn’t see the problems as early as Rishi.

DuncinToffee · 22/06/2023 08:26

The government have started to blame the BoE

It's easy, it's never their fault and Labour would be worse

Facts and the 'B' word don't matter

Notonthestairs · 22/06/2023 08:41

They would have been swift to take the credit if rates had fallen.

It’s already started. According to this morning’s Telegraph “boom and bust is the heartbeat of capitalism”.

"It’s already started. According to this morning’s Telegraph “boom and bust is the heartbeat of capitalism”.

No it's not!
And I'll bet most of the Telegraph writers & readers don't have mortgages to worry about.

OP posts:
Blossomtoes · 22/06/2023 09:05

I’ll bet they don’t too. They have to say something to keep their readership happy, though.

BBC Question Time tonight is a Brexit special with an audience of leave voters only,

There will be no government representative attending to answer questions.

It's going well with integrity and accountability,

Oh god is that tonight, I heard about that

Are they all just going to be slapping each other on the back at how well it's all going?

"On Question Time tonight, Fiona will be joined by John Redwood, Jenny Chapman, Ben Habib, Anand Menon and Alastair Campbell

Join us and an audience in Clacton-on-Sea for a Brexit special"

Apparently bbcqt are having trouble filling audience seats ..

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/06/2023 10:21

Not filling the seats would be hilarious. Panning to shots of half empty rows.

I figure what they’ll actually do is just fill it with anyone they can find to pretend to be a leave voter.
