Anyone got a link to how individual MPs voted please?

Somewhat surprising that my MP did the decent thing.

Are they Tory? A third of them did in the end. I haven't had chance to look properly at the list, but it'll be interesting to see what the balance is between the ones quitting, the ones fighting the next GE but knowing they'll lose and the ones who might actually be here for another term.

Notonthestairs · 19/06/2023 22:17

Didn't see Hunt, Braverman, Cleverly, Wallace, Dowden, Badenoch, Coffey, Jenrick etc on that list.
So most of Sunak's Cabinet hid.

It was a day of striking cowardice from Rishi Sunak's Cabinet. thecritic.co.uk/bored-of-these…

Too frit to do the right thing.

Their strategy was put the responsibility on to the opposition rather than face it down.
That's not governing.

Thank you!

Anyone got any intel on the MPs that voted against? I mean I know Bill Cash and heard of Adam Holloway I think. But why these MPs?

Typical twatishness of Rees Mogg to abstain anyway

DancingLedgend · 20/06/2023 07:31

Rousette, that's a good bit of writing.

"Of the Prime Minister, currently believed to be Rishi Sunak, there was no sign."

It’s not, of course, that Sunak or any of his ministers want Johnson back. They’re as pleased as anyone to see him gone. They just don’t want to take responsibility for the decision, and they were confident the opposition would do the work for them. They have outsourced their consciences to Labour, and risk finding that the voters want the party to take the rest of their jobs, too

Oh yes. And this bit really hit home for me. "They have outsourced their consciences to Labour"

It hasn't been evident to me that they have consciences.
Surely if Sunak did, he would have resigned rather than sit next to Johnson as he lied to parliament. Given those of us who live a long way from Downing Street knew Johnson was lying, someone who attended some of the parties must also have known....

McCartney stole Lincoln off Labour last election. V marginal seat. Nasty piece of work.

DuncinToffee · 20/06/2023 08:22

George Osborne is being questioned in the Covid 19 Inquiry today about the effects of austerity, Cameron had his turn yesterday.

Piggywaspushed · 20/06/2023 09:48

Is there a thread on this in FWR?

Lightly rhetorical question.

The Tories can only achieve this because they know what a woman is.

That’s what’s known in this house as a No Shit News Story. As in you hear it and go “No shit, really? Who would have thought it?”

It’s depressing that these reports have revealed the same things for years resulting in society largely being desensitised.

Your reaction is bang on btw but when you stop and examine that it’s bloody awful that so little has been achieved and we’re not wired to find that outrageous.

Saucery · 20/06/2023 12:12

Oh I know, I didn’t mean to come across as flippant. Women and children are always the ones who suffer first, most and longest in deprived areas and times.

Cornettoninja · 20/06/2023 12:15

I wasn’t having a pop at you personally @saucery, I completely recognise your intent and agree with it. I was just having one of those moments your own reaction gives you a smack in the chops and you find yourself wondering ‘why aren’t I more outraged?’ and concluding that people entrusted with leadership have fucked up your own personal capacity for empathy.

Piggywaspushed · 20/06/2023 12:43

I'm outraged every single time (and about race inequalities) but it's quite draining and stressful when others aren't as much. I don't recommend impotent and isolated outrage.

DuncinToffee · 20/06/2023 12:49

There is just so much to be angry about

but look, there is a submarine missing

Saucery · 20/06/2023 12:52

There weren’t any migrants in the submersible though, so 🤷‍♀️, it’s much more important.
