Books sorted by colour. Just dreadful.

OMG, that's what I thought!

MangosteenSoda · 07/06/2023 17:28

I’m strangely perturbed by the tiled upstairs study.

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2023 17:29

it is ok apart from the sitting room, and the fake grass

Soontobe60 · 07/06/2023 17:29

That grass is definitely fake! There’s no way it would grow so close up to the edges, under the table and under the planters.

It's almost like a quirky conservatory but indoors ?

£400K pa in rent is ludicrous. House is a bit......full. Right next to Wormwood Scrubs too.

CoinsinaJar · 07/06/2023 17:31

How much!!!!!!????? OMG .... that's outrageous. Regardless of the decor, that's an insane rent, even for the area. (misses the point of the thread completely .....)

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 07/06/2023 17:31

How would the end of tenancy inventory check work? With so much tat in the house how would the LL know it was all left behind when the tenant vacated?

Could that explain the £26k rent as recognition that some of the items wouldn't remain in the house?

RosaSkye · 07/06/2023 17:31

@ReeseWitherfork I think it looks really vibrant and take no issue with it at all! But then I’m an English teacher who loves chick lit’ and very often judges a book by its cover … so what do I know!

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2023 17:31

and there are stairs off the bedroom!

That's the biggest shock of all

Surely the tenants would want enough space to have their own personal items in it? I have a rented property in London which is quite high end, it's let furnished but stylish with not too much clutter.
That is a lot of money, you can rent a spectacular 3 bed, 3 bath apartment overlooking the Thames, loads of outdoor space, for under £20k pcm.

LadyEloise1 · 07/06/2023 17:37

PieonaBarm · 07/06/2023 14:07

I couldn't be bothered dusting all that stuff. Those upside down umbrellas are just asking to be filled up with dust!

I'm sure neither Ben or Marina dust their house. 😂

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2023 17:39

indeed how can they rent it with all that clobber?

VintageBlossomHill · 07/06/2023 17:41

Woeful. all that fake barn.

Clymene · 07/06/2023 17:42

It's hideous. And that's definitely plastic grass. £26,000 a month? Can't even compute that

I doubt it. They would 'know' based on these particular photos (obvious not including anything being replaced due to damage/theft 🤔/removal)

The price I would presume is negotiable for the right Tennant (= cash rich/ready to move in straight away/low standards/not needing anything changed) & probably covers extra 'costs' repairing/repainting the walls if the new occupants want a fully empty property/a different style/ sub letting)

They would really only be marketing to sub letters taking responsibility for paying the full rent & clawing it back through room rentals/t.v studios looking for places to film (=long term let for filming series) or gullible social media 'stars' (with family money) to style themselves as shabby-chic london living I would imagine 🤔

I kind of love that sort of posh-person clutter (not disimilar to Princess Anne's!), and the trees in the garden are gorgeous.

I'm always totally baffled why people are willing to pay quite such ridiculous sums of money just to live in London, though. Like, I get it's convenient, but surely not 26k a month convenient!! Plus, a 700k house fetches 2k+ rent, so for 26k you should be renting a house that's worth about 9mil..... Something seems very off with those numbers?

I think it must be negotiable & only really marketable to a certain sort ?

Lovely bit of history! I only know of it as being vaguely gentrified/Grenfell towers 🫣

It really is very gentrified now. Like much of London it's got some gritty corners, but the mixture of people is part of what makes it a desirable area. There are streets of very large detached and semi-detached houses very nearby the Fogles's, most of which were broken up into flats at some point, before being restored to family houses - an example

The view from their house is of Little Wormwood Scrubs, which is a very nicely maintained little park.

@DailyMaui

Does the North Kensington Community Centre still exist in some form? Just curious, as I've worked with lots of local organisations and was wondering if it evolved into one I know.

An eclectic, colourful Victorian house rebuilt almost from scratch

When Jos and Annabel White bought a Victorian house in London after 15 years living in New York, they knew exactly who to turn to for help – architect Basil Walter and designer Suzanne Sharp

That said, it seems to be a new estate agency, so maybe started up by a mate who's given them vastly over-inflated expectations?

Unsure33 · 07/06/2023 17:48

The funny thing is your posts about how horrible the house is are just your opinions and I bet they love the house and don’t give a fig about your criticisms about what is naff or not . That’s what eclectic style is . Individual . And no grey in sight.

Not what I would have expected from Ben FogIe. I pictured him in a nice farmhouse somewhere 'very rural' as we say on MN.
