What are you ‘I’m old’ references that younger folk might not understand ?
I’ll start: ‘too orangey for crows, it’s just for me and my dog’

Ahh , the Blue Peter Christmas candle . An accident waiting to happen. Imagine what the Christmas Elf and Safety would say about that these days !

Johnny briggs, with the insuffable Twins who said "Well....My mum...whose a nurse.."

I remember that one, the boy coming back from football practice and he got his boots stuck on the line, then the train came, the next you see is him without legs. It's stuck with me all these years.

My Mum was a nurse in London and she said she once had someone who had run for the train but slipped and ended up underneath the wheels. She said it was horrible to deal with.

I'm still wary of getting off trains my Dds just skip off they have no idea of the trauma 😫

The twins were Johnny Briggs' nemesis but I think the girl who talked about her mum being a nurse was someone else?

Remember the class rabbit Benny Buck?!

This has made me so happy!
Does anyone remember some game in the 1970s that came with lots of tiny metallic painted balls? My friend gave me some of the balls. I'm autistic and they made me so happy. I've been searching for them.for years. Please say if you know what I'm talking about!

Was it screwball scramble?

Also watching Laurel & Hardy or Harold Lloyd on BBC 2 around 6 pm .

Yes! We had a black and white TV in the back room and a colour one in the front. I'm not sure I realised that they were not normally in colour, ha ha.

I feel like I can picture this somewhere in the recesses of my mind, were the balls purple?

ChocChipHandbag · 07/06/2023 09:14

There was one in Scotland that was a bit similar to Johnny Briggs- Stookie, about a boy who broke his arm?

FlutteryButterfly · 07/06/2023 09:15

Melanie and Martina , the Funhouse twins, oh and Pat Sharp of course.

Would day Finders Keepers with Neil Buchanan but that's had a recent reboot.

I'm still wary of getting off trains my Dds just skip off they have no idea of the trauma 😫

I also always drive round bags on the road just in case someone has dumped a bag of kittens.

and yes the train thing, I'm the same. I'm always so scared when getting off a train.

The 70s and 80s really traumatised us.

I'm a 1980 baby too, 1980 is still Gen X albeit the tail end of it. Best generation ❤️

Lemieux3 · 07/06/2023 10:08

I've been spending a while trying to figure out what I was 🤣 yes this is a fantastic thread - great memories.

ok.....2 kids tv programmes that no one I know remembers, so I try here

1st one is "chocky" a really scary intense series about a boy who sort of becomes possessed by a super intelligent alien, he gets abducted by shady scientists (but has no memory of it) and is followed by a government agency, his parents are well super intense!

even the intro is freaky as it starts with a scream.

I remember Chocky - always made me feel a bit uncomfortable!
