Does your town/city have a "Boden belt"?

My friend just made me laugh, describing how she's accidentally moved to her town's "Boden belt", and school runs are full of mums in their 40s all really skinny, toned, and with the image/style of those Boden models (slouchy trousers, etc., on skinny frames). Is this a thing? I have to say, most of the mums in their 40s everywhere I've lived are similar to me - probably a bit mumsy and filling out - and I've lived in a number of pretty middle class areas. Has everyone else heard of "Boden belts" where all the mums look like that?!

I haven't ever heard of it before - but i think its rather funny!

But thinking about it - our town definitely has one, which is surrounded by much poorer areas.

hibeat · 06/06/2023 12:54

Can I move in? Need to loose a couple of pounds, every little helps. Not in mine for sure,

SmiggyBalls · 06/06/2023 12:56

@hibeat haha yes, I wonder if you get provided with a regulation Boden uniform, too?

Interesting @Hudhud35 I really don't think our town does have one. Not in south England though - maybe it's a South thing??

Absolutely not. My nearest town has a high proportion of very overweight people. It's very noticeable in the town centre.

Moonandstarz · 06/06/2023 13:03

Nah our town has a dry robe belt... Think Boden is slightly more fashionable just slightly 🤣

DanceMonster · 06/06/2023 13:04

No, not a thing where I am.

SmiggyBalls · 06/06/2023 13:05

@Moonandstarz I just had to Google Dryrobe. Bet you live in the South West...?!

Outside Greg’s no doubt, waiting for it to open?

No one in anyway stylish is wearing Boden these days.

Round here that sort of ‘set’ wear exclusively gym clothes. Sometimes on a Friday, jazzy sweaty Betty leggings.

I live in a tourist town and see a lot of people so as tourists outnumber residents it's difficult to categorise. However my friends do not like Boden neither do I Boden clothing is just not for me
Boden belt sounds funny

RampantIvy · 06/06/2023 13:29

TBH I wouldn't recognise a typical Boden outfit anyway.

LavenderHazy · 06/06/2023 13:38

Nothing like that at all in my rural Scottish town. Maybe in the nearest city there are small pockets like that.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 06/06/2023 13:55

I assume here they're picking up from the private school which is nowhere near me!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/06/2023 13:58

We have a Fatface and White Stuff belt. I live in it and hate both of them. I used to live collecting DD in my Cos minimalism

Bluevelvetsofa · 06/06/2023 14:01

We have overweight people and a plethora of people who, when the calendar hits April, break out vest tops and shorts.

Fellow North Devon resident??

KevinDeBrioche · 06/06/2023 14:41

You can’t move for dry robes in Crouch End

They move up to the APS catchment to avoid HGW. It's like the annual dry robe/boden migration.

Honestly thought it was just a Devon thing 🤣
They are the covering of choice for trips to Tesco...even when it's not particularly wet or cold.

Just get a decent coat

uncomfortablydumb53 · 06/06/2023 15:23

Boden belt is funny and I instantly knew what you meant!
I'm in Wilts and there's a dry robe feel/ badminton set but not as upmarket if that makes sense
Used to live in Bath and definitely a Boden belt.. up on the hills it's more Finisterre

DeoForty · 06/06/2023 15:31

I live in a Sainsburys Tu belt.

Moonandstarz · 06/06/2023 15:57

Don’t knock the Pri-robe.🤣

Got them for the DC as they are awesome for all day sports tournaments in winter but I am way too tight to fork out for the real thing which they will 50/50 lost by the end of the season.

My dc have the pri-robes too 😁 I was too scabby to cough up for the dry robes but did snigger when some of the fake tan & large hoop earrings starting donning the pri-robes at the school gates complete with fake ugg boots☺️ definitely a "leveller"... One mum wore a pri-robe over her pj's!

DanceMonster · 06/06/2023 16:19

The snobbery on this thread is quite something.
