Tv deaths that really got to you ***SPOILERS

tellermorrow · 03/06/2023 21:00

I have just finished watching Sons of Anarchy and...

spoiler

Jax's death hit me harder than any tv death before! I think it was because there was so much meaning behind it and after watching multiple series you really feel like you know the characters (sign of a good show creator I guess)

Ned Stark is probably a close second, that was messed up.

What tv deaths have most upset you?

Inspector Morse ☹️

Years and Years. When the brother dies in the migrant crossing after trying to bring his partner back in (after being deported because his crazy ex reported him out of spite).

Utterly heartbreaking, because it's real. And the whole lead up to it, the way their situation was deployed and were scammed out of money and were just so desperate that they even got into the boat to begin with.

And the painful irony that the partner made it but he didn't. So so sad, had to pause watching the rest of the series after that.

This and Its A Sin affected me so hard, both were heartbreaking and really stuck with you after they ended

YesYesAllGood · 03/06/2023 21:58

Inspector Morse for me too!

Also, dozens of good characters in the Walking Dead...

Glen from the walking dead 😭

OMG yes!

I loved Glen and could never forgive Neagen for that. 😡

Somanycats · 03/06/2023 21:58

Ianto Torchwood

Latenightreader · 03/06/2023 21:58

Wash in Firefly. I really didn't believe he was dead until they had the funeral (though on a rewatch I couldn't see how I missed that).

A young policeman on Juliet Bravo. I was way too young for it and he died in a fire at a Christmas party.

Mike Jardine from Taggart!

LilacClovers · 03/06/2023 21:58

Ethel in Eastenders, her final moments with Dot had me sobbing for hours after watching it!

SuperbSummer2023 · 03/06/2023 21:58

i haven't read the replies as I'm watching old stuff & don't want to read spoilers!

I'm a really emotional, I can cry at a butter advert!!

the one that instantly came to me was Hayley in Coronation Street, followed quickly many other characters!! Jack, Vera, Rita ... I could go on. I haven't watched it for YEARS, but it still upsets me thinking about them.

Honestly, pretty much any character that dies in a series or film! Or a butter advert!

Devonshiregal · 03/06/2023 22:00

Please say someone remebers Sarah from hollyoaks? She died in hollyoaks later (please don’t judge my viewing standards) in a skydiving murder. It was utterly traumatising and brilliantly filmed. But no one I know seems to have any memory of it!

I've got good news for you........Rita isn't dead.

Was she a swimmer or something?

Meg in Home and Away is the one for me. I still remember the scene where Blake carried her onto the beach to watch the sunrise, wrapped in a blanket and she dies right there. So moving. It was a lot for a tea-time show really!

Ladysaurus · 03/06/2023 22:03

Joyce summers in BtVS. I can't watch that episode without crying.

FallenSkies · 03/06/2023 22:04

Spinningaround18 · 03/06/2023 21:19

Firefly Lane - dear lord that was emotional

This hit me harder than any other show. I was ugly crying

Nellieinthebarn · 03/06/2023 22:05

John Archer, he got squashed by a tractor, I was in bits. Poor Pat and Tony.

Margarita45 · 03/06/2023 22:05

Sybil in Downton. I felt like it came from nowhere.

Not quite TV, but I will never get over Thomas J and My Girl. Ever.

coloursquare · 03/06/2023 22:05

Lola!!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 03/06/2023 22:05

Kate in NCIS, it took me ages to get used to Ziva as her replacement. When Ziva was replaced with Ellie I stopped watching.

Sweets in Bones, it was just so out of the blue and I missed his character.

PerrinAybara · 03/06/2023 22:05

Joyce in Buffy. I bought the DVDs but will not watch that episode.

I had forgotten Ianto in Torchwood @Somanycats but yes, that one hurt.

🙈🙈Shane in Home and Away🙈🙈

I was going to say this!!!
Didn't he die in real life too?

Devonshiregal · 03/06/2023 22:06

lostat · 03/06/2023 22:02

Was she a swimmer or something?

Yeah maybe? I feel like she had a younger sister who got pregnant when she was 14 and had the baby on the kitchen floor…not that I was paying attention or anything 😬

Figgygal · 03/06/2023 22:06

ER and greys had so many doozies didn't they
Mark and Lexie, Henry, Denny was it for me

I still get upset about a couple of eastenders ones tbh Pat Butcher and Ronnie's daughter getting hit by a car and Ronnie's screaming

Doyle in Angel

Come on to say about this scene
It broke me and yes it was to close to reality that this happens so so often

Oh bugger, that was radio, not TV.
