Tv deaths that really got to you ***SPOILERS

I have just finished watching Sons of Anarchy and...

spoiler

Jax's death hit me harder than any tv death before! I think it was because there was so much meaning behind it and after watching multiple series you really feel like you know the characters (sign of a good show creator I guess)

Ned Stark is probably a close second, that was messed up.

What tv deaths have most upset you?

Sambuca Waterloo road

Tom “I fell asleep”
Rose “so did she Tom”
😭😭

denny from greys.

Never did get over Kerry Bishop in Neighbours :( :(

But in more recent times -
The Starks in Game Of Thrones's Red Wedding still gets me :(

I’ve just been hunting around and found her. She was called Sandra Barlow and her dad was the manager of a road gang who gets demoted and then ends up shooting his wife and she has to go into care. I couldn’t remember the whole thing as I was 8, but it’s stuck with me for all of these years. Strange what a child’s brain remembers.

Yes, googled her and that's the one I remember. That storyline upset me too, I don't think I knew people could have 'bad' parents at that age.

Not exactly TV death - but my DH never got over when they changed Pippa on H&A. They literally changed mid episode and she didn't even have the same hair colour. It's the go to in joke in our house when something shocking happens either to us or in the world in general - he will say if its less or more shocking than changing Pippa 😁

Omar on The Wire
Poussey on OITNB
Tony on Soldier Soldier
Lem on The Shield

The final episode of SOA pissed me off so much I’ll never watch it again.

I remember them changing Pippa too! They also did it with Libby in neighbours. Rather they just write them out TBH. Original Pippa was by far the best.

Father Beocca in the Last Kingdom and Elsa in 1883. The whole last episode was basically her death scene, I cried for an hour!

The Pippa change was so crap, it makes you doubt your sanity when this sort of shit happens. Surely there was another blonde, similar looking woman in the entirety of Australia. I would prefer for the character to be killed off, or at least be involved in an accident where they need reconstructive surgery or something, especially if it’s an established main character. You can get away with it a bit more if it’s a minor actor.

@MindIfISlytherin

Oh god yes! Matthew's death! Ruined my Christmas! Still very cross!!

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 07/06/2023 08:51

Nana in the Royle family.

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 07/06/2023 08:52

Ethel in EastEnders.

Buffypaws · 10/06/2023 06:50

Oh I just remembered Kylie from Corrie. How I cried.

Bunnycat101 · 10/06/2023 08:23

Tom keen’s death in Blacklist. That show had some of the cleverest music tracks in tv and the music for the scene will probably not be beaten.

The chip fat fryer death in spooks was a shocker. I remember people talking about as it was so unexpected and grim.

xogossipgirlxo · 10/06/2023 08:32

Justin from “13 reasons why” 😩

Millicentmargaretamandaholden · 10/06/2023 11:14

I thought of another one.

The ponies in Escape from the Dark.

I’m feeling the way I did aged 8 just remembering it. 😭

Devonshiregal · 03/06/2023 22:06

Yeah maybe? I feel like she had a younger sister who got pregnant when she was 14 and had the baby on the kitchen floor…not that I was paying attention or anything 😬

I remember the skydiving incident clearly. Then her best friend slept with her dad and then was accused of sabotaging the parachute.

justprance · 10/06/2023 11:55

Rachel in Cold Feet. I still remember the shock

onwardandupwards · 10/06/2023 13:23

Ruth from ozark and Hayley and Sinead from coronation Street

I remember it. I couldn’t stand the character so I was quite happy about it! Hadn’t someone sabotaged the equipment?

I can’t remember her name but there was this awful bully of a girl on Hollyoaks that was killed by a piece of shrapnel landing on her (I think it was part of a plane or something like that), I cheered when that happened.

Maddie! Was a flying piece of car door..very final destination

Ooh thanks for that. I stopped watching shortly after that so I’ve forgotten loads. That character was absolutely vile. I think they tried to bring her family into the story as a way to show her upbringing had made her like she was but the storyline had been taken too far. It did work to show her as somebody that could be perfectly lovely to other people but an evil bully to another with everyone else being blind to what was happening.

midsomermurderess · 10/06/2023 16:39

It’s a Sin. Well, the way his mother was handled, we knew he was dying.

SquashPenguin · 10/06/2023 16:41

Theon Greyjoy. Predictable but it gets me every time

dapsnotplimsolls · 10/06/2023 17:00

Charlie from Lost. (Not Penny's Boat).

Everybodysaycheese · 10/06/2023 18:51

Agree with so many of these!

One that got to me was Kerry in the Bill. That character had been through so much and just as she was about to get her happy ending with Smithy, they had her shot! I was a teen at the time and gutted they killed her off.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 11/06/2023 16:35

Jin and Sun from Lost..having found each other and then bamm..and the music never helped

Haunting of Hill House! All the deaths were sad! Same with Bly Manor..and Midnight Mass..its the music that goes with the scenes too

Jade from Hollyoaks..

Thenewtrews · 12/06/2023 20:03

Quintin fields , OTH. I’m rewatching this at the moment and it’s breaking my heart
