Tv deaths that really got to you ***SPOILERS

I have just finished watching Sons of Anarchy and...

spoiler

Jax's death hit me harder than any tv death before! I think it was because there was so much meaning behind it and after watching multiple series you really feel like you know the characters (sign of a good show creator I guess)

Ned Stark is probably a close second, that was messed up.

What tv deaths have most upset you?

Mark Greene and Lucy in ER and yes, firefly lane was ridiculously sad. Oh and Big in sex and the city.

User1328745 · 03/06/2023 21:27

Will Gardner in The Good Life
Mrs Landingham in The West Wing

User1328745 · 03/06/2023 21:28

The Good Wife not life

CaveMum · 03/06/2023 21:28

Joyce Summers in Buffy

Mrs Landingham in The West Wing

Leo McGarry in The West Wing - all the more poignant that they had to write his death as the actor, John Spencer, had died suddenly.

Nurse Roberts (Laverne) in Scrubs

Beezknees · 03/06/2023 21:29

Tara Maclay. Will never get over it!

CaveMum · 03/06/2023 21:29

Oh and also “Ben” in Scrubs.

”Where do you think we are?” 😭😭😭

GoGoJasonWaterfalls · 03/06/2023 21:31

Denny. She missed it because she changed her outfit because she wanted to look perfect. I cried for about two hours straight.

PuttingDownRoots · 03/06/2023 21:32

From when I was younger... the Dad in Eight Simple Rules. The fact they had to do it because the actor died, so they created a scenario where he could be remembered.

husbandcallsmepickle · 03/06/2023 21:32

Shruti in This is going to hurt

The ending of 'Sons Of Anarchy' was one of the most satisfyingly complete TV moments ever in my book.

I'll also nominate the haunting last episode of 'Ashes To Ashes'.

Heartbreaking.

Couldn't agree more, it came full circle.

The only tv ending that I would say rivalled it for me was Breaking Bad. Didn't feel half as gutted about Walter as I did about Jax though

Buffy's mum. God it chokes me up even thinking about it. 'Mommy?'

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 03/06/2023 21:32

Avril and Laurence in How We Used To Live in about 1986.

I’m still not ok about it 🙁

CatchHimDerry · 03/06/2023 21:33

Barbara, call the midwife
Arthur, Holby City

Probably loads more

Millicentmargaretamandaholden · 03/06/2023 21:34

Omar in the Wire
Poussey OITNB
Jamie in Top Boy (Sulley what have you done!)
Geoff from Byker Grove! I’d forgotten about this until this thread but just the thought of it has got me! 😭
Nicola Walkers character in Unforgotten

DeadbeatYoda · 03/06/2023 21:34

Artax ( Atreyu's horse in Never Ending Story)
Mark Greene ( ER)
Bambi's mum

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 03/06/2023 21:34

Vera in Corrie.
Nan in Royle Family (mind my own mum had died a couple of months previously)
DH has just denied that ANY tv death has affected him, this is a huge porky, he cries at everything, he sobbed when Vera died.

Upanddownthemerrygoround · 03/06/2023 21:35

Nicola Walker right at the end of Spooks. I mean the average “age” of a character in spooks was about a series and a half so not a huge surprise but wow. Gutting.

Floogal · 03/06/2023 21:35

When Nana on the Royle Family died. Also the bit where she thanks Barbara for not putting her in a home and Jim has seemingly made his peace with her (& is really sad when he knows it's imminent

Daphne on Neighbours. I was only a little kid and never known anyone die before. I taped the episode so I’d always remember her face. 😆 I watched it on YouTube the other week and pissed myself at it. So cheesy.

I love you too Clarky!

I'll see your Daphne and I will raise you Kerry, dying on that duck hunt sabotage, just tragic!!!

febbabies2023 · 03/06/2023 21:36

Practically every character that's died in Greys tbh... George O Malley though 😭

tonystarksrighthand · 03/06/2023 21:37

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/06/2023 21:15

🙈🙈Shane in Home and Away🙈🙈

omfg!!! Me too .... I remember having to go on a walk and cry my eyes out

AgathaX · 03/06/2023 21:37

Rachel. Cold Feet. Horrible and really upsetting.

Redebs · 03/06/2023 21:38

The Christopher Eccleston character in Cracker

I detest the series, but that was moving

pastypirate · 03/06/2023 21:38

Baby Harry on casualty

Scautish · 03/06/2023 21:38

Howard Hamlin - Better Call Saul
Jan Meyer - The Killing

but Particularly Omar in The Wire

agree about Adrianne in Sopranos. Absolutely heartbreaking.
