Tv deaths that really got to you ***SPOILERS

I have just finished watching Sons of Anarchy and...

spoiler

Jax's death hit me harder than any tv death before! I think it was because there was so much meaning behind it and after watching multiple series you really feel like you know the characters (sign of a good show creator I guess)

Ned Stark is probably a close second, that was messed up.

What tv deaths have most upset you?

Lola in EastEnders
Mark green and Greg Pratt.
Joyce summers.
Its a sin- I can't remember the characters names.

teanntoastinbed · 03/06/2023 22:28

@tellermorrow omg that was horrific! Was it the weirdo stalker teacher?

FMLWTF · 03/06/2023 22:31

Marissa Cooper (AKA Misha Barton) in The OC. That was incredibly well done but so moving.

MillieMollieMandy1 · 03/06/2023 22:33

Rudy Jordache - Rich Man Poor Man (I am old!).

ZenNudist · 03/06/2023 22:33

Helen Baxendale's character in cold feet. Awful.

Will in the Good Wife. Gutted.

I forgot about Dowton Abbey. That was bad. I didn't like it when they killed the youngest sister either but women dying in childbirth was very consistent with the era.

Yes! I can't even remember the whole storyline but can picture blood splatters on the glass door... very disturbing

Miguel in This Is Us, I sobbed and sobbed.

billycat321 · 03/06/2023 22:35

Nigel Pargetter in The Archers. Will never forgive whoever thought of that storyline. Actor Graham Seed was treated appallingly

I couldn't believe they killed her. It makes no sense to kill a main character and then try and keep going. They should have ended the show with her and Ryan getting together. They could have done a "Scott and Charlene" and left together before starting a spin off of new young romance.

Forever Young is a great song.

Joyce Summers in Buffy

Mrs Landingham in The West Wing

Leo McGarry in The West Wing - all the more poignant that they had to write his death as the actor, John Spencer, had died suddenly.

Nurse Roberts (Laverne) in Scrubs

Joyce Summers...

Mom, mom, MOM, MOM...MOMMY!

SaxSick · 03/06/2023 22:37

The melting of the Snowman - I start crying at the beginning music.

The deaths of all of the cast in the very last episode of Six Feet Under. Unexpected and I was sobbing. Just tortured myself by watching it on You Tube.

Recently but it's a film - The Man Called Otto. Had to stop it to compose myself so I could watch it. Gutting.

Rachel in Cold Feet. Absolutely traumatising! Just googled and it was 2003 so I had a toddler and my Dad died the previous year which might have all added to me remembering it so well.

I still think of it when I cross intersections!

I guess HB wanted to go to the US and do friends?

SaxSick · 03/06/2023 22:38

OH God and Brody in Homeland when they strung him up on the crane!

I am not sure if it counts but the last scene in Blackadder goes forth.

I refuse to watch it now because I end up crying

I've seen that scene lots of times and I cry every time.

TheShellBeach · 03/06/2023 22:40

Victor Meldrew

One of the young secretaries at my old royal died in a car crash a few weeks later the Rachel episode in cold feet aired. Several of the poor girls work friends didn’t come to work the next day after it it was so upsetting.

FeedMeCoffeeOrGin · 03/06/2023 22:40

Random one that always stuck with me was baby Daniel in Emmerdale. The actress playing Laurel acted that scene amazingly imo.

Also

Sam the dog in I am Legend
Mufasa of course
Hodor on GOT! Ffs Bran 😒

TheaBrandt · 03/06/2023 22:40

royal? Work

Rockfordpeach · 03/06/2023 22:41

Another for Mark Greene in ER, I rewatched er a year or so ago and I was still just as bereft when it happened.

Leo McGarry in the west wing because John Spencer had died in real life so it was heart breaking

Jack in This Is Us even though you know forever that he's dead

Sgt Tony Wilton in Soldier Soldier because I loved him. Showing my age with these!

NewAnon · 03/06/2023 22:41

Oh and Poirot... Those final Suchet episodes are so emotional.

chutneysauce · 03/06/2023 22:41

Shireen in Game of Thrones when her own dad ordered her to be burnt at the stake
Daphne (Neighbours) also traumatised me back on the day!
Richie (it's a sin)
The girl who was shot by firing squad alongside her brother in Bangkok Hilton
Meg (home and away)
Hodor in Game of Thones, in fact most of them from GOT!
The snowman

FloralWallpaper492 · 03/06/2023 22:41

Phil Bellamy in Heartbeat!!!

crunchypeanutbutterontoast · 03/06/2023 22:45

Colin from Its a Sin - so sad.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 03/06/2023 22:46

Mark, Gant and Lucy in ER. Derek, Denny, Mark and Lexie in Greys. Matthew in Downton. Someone mentioned Meg in Home and Away, it was the first time I remember crying at a TV programme. I now cry a lot at TV 😆

Tillyteacup · 03/06/2023 22:46

Du Plessis in Wild at Heart.
