Wearing pjs to hang washing outside

pjswashingline · 03/06/2023 07:52

I'm just waiting on the washing machine to finish and then I will hand it outside. I am in pjs and will not get changed prior to going outside. We have neighbours at either side so I can be seen but I think it's perfectly acceptable to be out in nightwear. I just wondered if others get changed first?

No it’s fine, I loaded the car yesterday in mine and my curlers in 😂

megletthesecond · 03/06/2023 07:54

I do it.

wibblewobbleball · 03/06/2023 07:54

Normal to do this surely? I hang my wash out every morning in my PJs. I like to get my house jobs done for the morning before I get dressed.

SeeingSpots · 03/06/2023 07:54

Perfectly normal.

I also water the plants in my PJs, nip to the shed and sometimes sit out there for 5 minutes peace with a cup of tea.

thaegumathteth · 03/06/2023 07:55

Normal but I've never ever seen one of my neighbours NOT in PJs

DeathMetalMum · 03/06/2023 07:55

Pretty much the only time I go out of the house in my pj's is to hang washing out.

IceIceBabyBump · 03/06/2023 07:57

Totally normal, you loon.

I water the front and back gardens in PJs, put the bins out in PJs, hang the washing out in PJs, take the dog around the block in PJs.

I live in a typical Victorian terrace street so very overlooked.

Who cares - life's short.

BriarHare · 03/06/2023 07:57

I don’t wear pjs, but I did drive to the station last night to collect my husband, wearing just my dressing gown and his sliders. 😆

StopFeckingFaffing · 03/06/2023 07:59

Absolutely fine and normal behaviour

The only situation which would change my opinion would be if your hanging area is at front of your house and you don't have an enclosed front garden, but even then there is nothing wrong with it I just wouldn't be happy outside in my PJs in that scenario!

Summerslimtime · 03/06/2023 08:01

I have learned 2 things from my neighbours:

  1. They never ever go downstairs in pjs.
  1. They cannot fathom anyone watching TV in the daytime.

I have not found my tribe.

nahwhale · 03/06/2023 08:03

Fine though I do sometimes put a dressing gown on

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 03/06/2023 08:05

PJs all the way.
Dressing gown too if cold.

cocksstrideintheevening · 03/06/2023 08:06

@Summerslimtime how do you know that about them?!

My pjs are shorts in summer, long in winter and perfectly respectable to hang the washing in. If I was wearing a sexy neglige then probably not but my pjs yes I'd hang the washing and I sit and eat breakfast / drink coffee outside if it's a nice morning.

gogohmm · 03/06/2023 08:07

I do it all the time, dressing gown usually

gogohmm · 03/06/2023 08:09

(I do t wear pjs, just the dg)

lucysmam · 03/06/2023 08:11

Not a chance I'm getting out of my pj's to peg washing out! But I have never seen either of my neighbours hang theirs in anything but clothes 🤷‍♀️ I don't care who sees my in my pj's tbh, the same as I don't care if they see my undies on the line either.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 03/06/2023 08:16

Absolutely I do this all the time and water the plants and take bins in, also in my tatty dressing gown.

notprincehamlet · 03/06/2023 08:19

Anything less than a ball gown and tiara is slovenly. Fortunately I always sleep in a ball gown and tiara.

RosesAndHellebores · 03/06/2023 08:22

Not a chance I'd go downstairs in my dressing gown. Let alone into the garden in my nightie, without underwear.

We are not overlooked, but I still wouldn't do it.

I do wear yesterday's dress or trousers, wash my face and brush my teeth and then have a shower mid to late morning when my jobs are done though.

MaggieBsBoat · 03/06/2023 08:22

I’ve been known to go to the cinema in my jimjams! It’s clothing. Do it!

EmeraldFox · 03/06/2023 08:24

There are pj's and there are pj's. Do you mean checked/patterned trousers with a t-shirt type of pj's?

SnapBang · 03/06/2023 08:25

I sit out and sunbathe in a bikini sometimes - how is it worse to wear pyjamas? I would honestly walk around my garden naked if the mood took me, despite having neighbours. It’s my garden! They can look it look away quite frankly 😂

summerfinn · 03/06/2023 08:27

I always look like a total slob in my own home , garden included and couldn't care less what my neighbours think of me. It's hardly the same as going to the shops in your pjs which is totally different and not something anybody should do ever.

Timeforchangeithink · 03/06/2023 08:27

Back garden yes even sitting out with my breakfast. Front garden putting bins out late evening or early morning only,

AlisonDonut · 03/06/2023 08:27

Totally fine OP.
