DP doesn't get poo cramps

What's wrong with him? What's wrong with his body?

I'm not the weird one, right? Most people if they eat something their body doesn't entirely agree with get a crampy-feeling until it's all out right? Mine is after anything with too much dairy or fish and chips/other greasy takeaways.

He thinks he's the normal one and I'm the odd one. But I've never heard of anyone just not having poo cramps?! Are there people who just... need to have a poo? And that's it? Every time?

As I make yet another trip to the toilet I am awash with envy. Also I should probably just stop eating chocolate. Hmm

It's not normal OP. You could have IBS.

But I've never heard of anyone just not having poo cramps?!
How many people have you talked to about this? And who are the people telling you they also have poo cramps?
I don't think I've ever talked to anyone about stuff like this apart from one friend, who has IBS, and she often talks about her bowels because she is in a lot of pain.

If you are having gastro related pain every day you should go to the GP to get it checked out.

DemonicCaveMaggot · 02/06/2023 12:19

Please check with a GP or nurse practioner. You could have IBS or some kind of food intolerance. I'd want to know in your shoes to make sure you aren't accidentally damaging your intestines.

addler · 02/06/2023 12:20

@mindutopia I have a lot of those symptoms, unfortunately not weight loss!

I get cramps when my Diverticulitis is flaring up. Otherwise no.

Confused

I don't actually think I've talked to that many people about it, I just assumed it was normal. My twin is also the same, so maybe there's a genetic link.

I do have a lot of unexplained vitamin deficiencies, my GP kept asking me if I was vegan because of my B12 and iron levels even when I would repeat I wasn't.

I'm actually glad I started this thread as maybe if I can figure out what food in particular is causing it then I won't have to feel like this anymore.

Honestly, OP, how can you have thought it was normal to be in pain on a daily basis, without concluding that you had some form of illness or intolerance?

Bonjovispjs · 02/06/2023 12:24

Never heard of poo cramps. I get the urge to do a poo, do one and that's it, no pain involved, it's definitely you.

mintbiscuit · 02/06/2023 12:30

IBS suffer here and poo cramps are real!

SilverOrchid · 02/06/2023 12:36

Yep, it’s you.

I can think of two times in my life when I’ve had what you describe, but it was accompanied with being sick and feeling faint/woozy and going very pale - so I think more a food poisoning type scenario (even though it came and went within 20 mins).

On a regular day I have no discomfort and give no thought to my gastrointestinal processes.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 02/06/2023 12:37

Crikey OP I'm with you. I mean I dont get a pain every day, but lots of times.

I also have a rectocele so poo tends to drop into this before I get the urge to go to the toilet.

I have an insanely good diet with tons of fruit and veg and litres of water.

Middleofitall · 02/06/2023 12:07

I get this plus awful colon aches afterwards recently too. I think I must have piles too as do really thin stools . Poo cramps are definitely a thing OP

Have you been to the GP about thin stools? Can sometimes be caused by something serious. Not meaning to frighten you but definitely worth mentioning if you haven't already x

Hazelnuttella · 02/06/2023 12:39

Definitely get to the doctor OP. It could be something serious like Crohns or Coeliac when you add in your vitamin deficiencies. Are you underweight?

Fraaahnces · 02/06/2023 12:40

Personally, I think your DH is full of shit.

SoupDragon · 02/06/2023 12:40

Have you considered coeliac disease?

Speach · 02/06/2023 12:40

I have coeliac disease OP, before my diagnosis every time I needed to use the toilet I had this. And very frequently!

spudulike1 · 02/06/2023 12:43

I did an online thing where we sent hair samples and found out our sensitivities. I know lots of people dont hold much faith in these but the only time in my life when my bowels were 'normal' was when I cut all the sensitivities out. The same with my adult DD. I ended up reintroducing things because it was a complete pain trying to avoid so much and different things for each of us but it was actually a lot better for me.

MrsRinaDecker · 02/06/2023 12:47

I definitely get pain when I need to “go”! If not pain, then certainly discomfort. I’ve also been diagnosed with IBS in the past.

GrazingSheep · 02/06/2023 12:01

Shit happens 💩

😂😂😂

Caterina99 · 02/06/2023 12:50

No not normal for me (or DH I assume. I’ve never actually asked him, but he’s never mentioned it either!)

Very occasionally I would get stomach issues, like you say because I’ve overeaten the rich food or maybe it’s been something dodgy, but that’s probably like a couple of time a year. Anything more serious has been a bug.

Snoken · 02/06/2023 12:52

I get cramps occasionally but I think I have figured out what is causing it now. It seems to be mushrooms. I am veggie and eat mushrooms quite often. I started a diary listing what I had eaten before the cramps and realised that 8 out of 10 times I had mushrooms. The other times it has been because I had been hungover and indulged in greasy food. I don't think many of the people around me are the same. Most seem to be able to eat anything they want and be fine. I just have to eat less and healthier and I am fine. Periodic fasting has also helped as my guts gets a chance to rest properly every day.

Porkandbeans1 · 02/06/2023 12:53

God I'd love to never get cramps. I have endo and most of my issues are around bowel movements.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 02/06/2023 12:54

I had this very question with a few male friends. They asked me what period pains felt like, I said like "urgent poo cramps but more internal and more acute".
All 3 of them looked at me like I had grown another head.

Turns out none of them, all blokes in their mid 30s never get poo cramps either.

That must be a female thing too.

Bexx87 · 02/06/2023 12:55

Only when I'm not well, like with a stomach bug or I've eaten something that doesn't agree with me.

Snoopystick · 02/06/2023 12:55

Friend is lactose intolerance and I think she gets this if has butter etc
