I dont belive itv saing they didnt know-bolocks everyone knew

but dont forget it wasnt "illegal"

ReunitedThorns · 26/05/2023 22:42

My thinking is that the Daily Mail have been working on a way to get around the legal issues and have obviously caught Phil out as he has lied to them which potentially breaks the NDA.

Phil has then had to admit that he lied and now stuff can start coming out.

JeandeServiette · 26/05/2023 22:44

Off topic but I love your username.

Me too. Are you a Didion fan or a Mexico enthusiast @QuintanaRoo ? I've often wondered.

Diorinthecountry · 26/05/2023 22:45

What's happened?

Yellowdays · 26/05/2023 22:47

The headlines are children dying in Cardiff and a baby killed by his parents. Yet some people still think this is more important or interesting. I despair.

If the man concerned has contacted the police to complain about this relationship then you all have a point. If not, move on.

Whilst of course other issues are important, there's something pretty grim about a man in a position of power grooming young men and multiple high profile people covering for it.

TheCreamTeaWasFromMe · 26/05/2023 22:48

Depends on the terms of the NDA. For example it might be tied to payment.

Or the silenced party might take legal advice on whether there is any way to tell their story but not breach the NDA terms. It's illegal in the UK to use an NDA to try stop someone from speaking about a crime.

One hypothetical situation is that someone subject to an NDA could have legal advice paid for by a newspaper interested in breaking their story, on ways that they could talk to the media and not be sued for breaching the NDA.

One such example would be grooming - which is illegal. So someone could argue that they should not be bound by an NDA if it is aimed at preventing them from speaking out about being a victim of grooming (for instance).

Luckily I can be concerned about multiple things at once. I despise grooming and murder.

For people asking about 2 other national treasures, and where to find the information - well I read it all here on MN, several years ago.

There is a search function . . .

So you believe the grooming of children should be ignored?

Notaposhette · 26/05/2023 22:52

Holly is to Phillip what Esther Rantzen was to Jimmy Saville.(and she still somehow managed to continue being the patron of Childline🤮) They both knew. Both said nothing.
Second time yes had to come out before he was outed. Thats his career down the toilet. Hope Holly's goes there too for supporting such a slimeball.

That's an incredibly narrow minded view of people's capacity.

I don't know about you but I can be saddened and revolted by Finley's tragic death - a case that I have been following since it first hit the headlines - and still be interested in other things. One doesn't cancel out the other.

You don't get to police what other people think about and post on. I don't tend to go AS other posters, but I am going to hazard a guess that you have posted on various threads over recent weeks which reflect different interests.

Cocolapew · 26/05/2023 22:53

Thanks for the NDA answers.
People can talk about celeb news, whether criminal or not, and still have headroom for other news.

That could throw up anything though. There are thousands of threads with speculation. Can tin narrow things down at all?

Yellowdays · 26/05/2023 22:56

We are talking about a grown man . I'm sure he has a thinking brain, and can decide for himself whether to complain, without help from armies of the uninformed. If anything untoward happened, I hope he does, and in that event it's a story. Until then it isn't.

good96 · 26/05/2023 22:57

I’ve had a look at the young guy’s linkedin profile -
He attended secondary school from 2007-2012 meaning that he was born in 1995-1996 (33/34 years PS’ junior) - and he started working for ITV in early 2016 which would have put him at 19 or so.

It’s ironic how he was a runner on most of the shows that Phil presented - Dancing On Ice, This Morning and 5 Gold Rings. Also worked on Loose Women as well which is transmitted from the same building after This Morning.

I think there’s more to come out for sure -
But it seems that the top brass at ITV have protected him for years - they need to go. Also Holly needs to go too - how can she carry on presenting with this all gone in - Phil has no doubt confided in Holly so would have been aware of what went on…

That said though, I don’t think the press - especially a certain Dan Wooton has learnt from 3 and half years ago when Caroline Flack committed suicide.

Oh, OK. Does that mean we aren't allowed to talk about it - because you have decided it's not a story? (hint: the BBC seems to disagree with you, as it's currently their lead headline).

Lifeomars · 26/05/2023 23:00

Stuckinthemiddle1990 · 26/05/2023 22:19

I think there is going to be another breaking news story soon.

Yes, this is what I am thinking, it is the tip of the iceberg and I have a feeling that this is just the start which is a sickening way to feel. Daytime TV seems to be an utter cess pit

ReunitedThorns · 26/05/2023 23:04

@good96 I don't like this threat of suicide being used not to investigate wrong doing.

Many people have been wronged by Phil in the past, with a long history of bullying. Using the threat of suicide is in the playbook of bullies and narcissists.

HRTQueen · 26/05/2023 23:14

many things are not illegal but are extremely wrong and damaging

so he kept this from all around him they didn’t know anything yet it’s been all over the internet for a few years 🙄

He had to make a statement and @I think he is making sure others fall too he is a very spiteful man

Yellowdays · 26/05/2023 23:16

Yes it is the BBCs news headline. Tragically, unless there is more to it, as it's a disgrace they are so navel gazing as to make it their biggest story.

TheTERFnextDoor · 26/05/2023 23:17

I'm surprised that Phillip hasn't started scrubbing his Twitter...

I've known about it for years and I'm just a random nobody, ITV and Holly and everyone else on the show are totally taking the piss pretending they didn't know.

SD1978 · 26/05/2023 23:19

I'm glad about the downfall. The way he 'came out' and had everyone on his side about how brave he was- no care or consideration to a wife and family he'd lied to, cheated on for sodding years. Cancellation is what he deserves.
