Exactly! I'd love to see them trying to disrupt normal working folk in Tiananmen Square! 😂

I'd like to see that too 😂

I'd pay just to be a spectator! 😂😂

We're fully aware that the climate crisis is global. But some countries are far more polluting than others, so why don't they protest there where it's more needed?

Protesters have more leverage where they live. By targeting their own country’s press and political representatives, they can campaign around trade deals with oil and gas producing nations, domestic exploration. They can email or arrange to meet their MP in person to express their concerns.

Why would UK climate activists fly to China? There isn’t a protester visa as far as I am aware 😂 And why would Chinese politicians listen to non-Chinese nationals? It’s absurd.

Only via live cam. I don't want to actually be there. They might mistake me for one of the protesters 😁

I wouldn't dare post what I recommend for some posters.

Clearly, you are unaware of the harm their protests have done. People have probably died because of their stunts. (Missed medical appts, no ambulances, etc etc.)

People have "actually" died due to global warming, disproportionately in the global south

Gruffling · 25/05/2023 23:59

Good on them. It's just a garden. I fear for my child's future because of the climate crisis.

You can expect those numbers to go up significantly once net zero kicks in. I don't suppose it will have the same impact on the posh over privileged bank rolled JSO types.

You're actually right on this one, Chinese politicians wouldn't listen to them anyway as they'd be rightly incarcerated before they had the chance to cause any major disruption.

AnarchoTyrannosaurus · 26/05/2023 00:05

That's right. They won't. But bizarrely you think they'll listen to the UK government if you just disrupt the UK population enough. You said it yourself, they won't. They'll just keep building and achieve world dominance. Obviously.

You should fear for your child's future more with net zero.

SoftCoeur · 26/05/2023 00:26

They are ludicrous. They do nothing, achieve nothing.

If people are talking, it's about THEM, not the environment.

If people are angry, it's at THEM, not the cause.

They are so ridiculous that if you did want to turn ordinary people against climate activism, they are what you would invent.

JaneJeffer · 26/05/2023 01:02

SkiingIsHeaven · 26/05/2023 02:49

If they carry on like they are I'm giving back my electric car and buying a big diesel 4 x 4. Pricks.

Ppbbww9 · 26/05/2023 07:34

Although I agree with their cause I can't help but wonder how many or them are total hypocrites. How many of them are about to jet off with their parents for the summer, for example? I'd love to know how these people live their lives when we're not watching. Most of us find it difficult to change the lifestyles we've been used to for so long. I'm sure they're not any different. Tell me you don't use planes or cars anymore and I'll be so impressed I'll listen. Throwing orange paint over a garden is not enough to make me listen to you.

RhinoMoveFast · 26/05/2023 08:07

They should move to China via boat, become citizens, live a low Co2 lifestyle, not reproduce and protest there.

RhinoMoveFast · 26/05/2023 08:11

Gruffling · 25/05/2023 23:59

Don't have anymore children, give up your income above 7k pa, and move to a two bedroom small property keep it cold, work from home without the internet, buy nothing new, quit asking others to live your utopia life.

Irequireausername · 26/05/2023 08:20

Some people keep saying that their actions are justified because of climate change. Do you really believe that they'll achieve anything positive about climate change or do you just appreciate posturing?

"Rightly incarcerated"

What an absolutely twattish comment.

Has this board been overrun with Telegraph frothers?

Apparently land should be for growing veg not flowers. Obviously clueless about bees, diversity and pollination. Fuckwits

Sounds socialist, ignorant and devoid of all joy. Scary.

Why don't they move to Venezuela or China, live the dream?

Because they enjoy being "useful idiots" as the socialists call them.

RhinoMoveFast · 26/05/2023 08:45

There are some who want us globally trapped, they don't want to build and maintain security at a wall this time to keep us all in.

Environmental issues is what this thread is about, the social justice part is about to explode next month so Stonewall can give lots of index points for companies ESG credit scores and the G is governmence. I came across ESG when Halifax were in the news over pronouns, I followed tweets and learned Lloyds owns Halifax and their largest shareholder are Blackrock, I looked up ESG, anyone can.

This is an oldish film, it shows how we got here, they know we know that they are lying, yet most people go along with the lies.

Welcome to the post-truth world. You know it’s not real. But you accept it as normal.

We are heading for the destruction of life and civilised society as we know it - probably in our own lifetimes for the boomers amongst us, certainly in our children's and if you're not screaming then you're probably not following the science or are happy to stay in ignorant denial. Thank god people like these exist to remind our race what we have done. We have in the last couple of centuries burnt hydrocarbons that were produced by the sun that took millions of years to fix in the earth, and it's getting likely that it's too late for humanity to collectively fix what we have unwittingly unleashed through human endeavour and ingenuity. Like the frog in the pan we are boiling ourselves alive, and yes I'm a hypocrite, and I turn my attention away as it is just all too terrible to contemplate. But the last thing you would find me doing is criticizing them and their direction of travel, misguided as it may appear at times.

AnonyMenOhPee · 26/05/2023 08:52

Well the doom mongers say it’s too late so might as well go on that holiday in the sun.

That’s the whole point - it’s not too late to moderate the worst effects, but we all need to face realty, act on what climate scientists are saying, push for rapid phasing out of fossil fuel use.
