How can people not like....

I just ate a delicious orange, and I found myself wondering "How can people not like oranges? They are practically perfect in every way" although I'm the only person in my house that likes them. They all like bananas though, the weirdos! What food do you feel like that about? Not a meal (although Dan Dan Noodles....." but a single food item.

Bananas work of the devil. Smell like vomit.

HuntingoftheSnark · 24/05/2023 19:31

Nectarines or peaches. Used to love them until I bit into one, a few years ago now, and what looked like hundreds of small insects fell out of it and all over me. I googled this in utter horror and found that they were tiny earwigs. I avoid them like the plague now.

BebbanburgIsMine · 24/05/2023 19:57

@EvilElsa

Your DH is not alone!

I hate mash too, disgusting, horrible mush.

There's only me and DD here, she loves it, I cannot stand it 😂

MammaWeasel · 24/05/2023 20:15

Plain rice.....utterly boring and pointless carbohydrate.

Mashed potatoes with butter....Comfort food

CoronationKicking · 24/05/2023 21:57

No, can't be bothered with the peeling. Such faff

Kyse23 · 24/05/2023 22:02

I love orange juice but not oranges
Peeling them, then the pith, then you chew them and you're just left with the skin stuff in your mouth. Nope

FourFoxSake · 24/05/2023 22:04

Sweetcorn.

How can anyone

A) not like it

And

B) not agree it literally makes every single meal better for being there

Kyse23 · 24/05/2023 22:08

Oh and I don't like steak which seems to make most people reel with horror

thaegumathteth · 24/05/2023 22:10

My daughter doesn't like strawberries.

WTAF?

Vintagecreamandcottagepie · 24/05/2023 22:15

Someone doesn't like marzipan?!??

My fruit and veg one- love all veg, especially raw mushrooms and cooked mushrooms and greens and sprouts. All veg really, as long as not overcooked.

However- my real food of the gods is potato waffles done to a crisp in the toaster. Then heated beans and tinned tomatoes (mixed together) poured over the top.

I hate marshmallows. Giant balls of evil.

newtb · 24/05/2023 22:17

Pickled walnuts, can eat them like sweets apart from the cost.

EnoughEnoughnow · 24/05/2023 22:21

I love Brussel sprouts, olives and anchovies - things people have told me are the food of the devil!

tsmainsqueeze · 24/05/2023 22:25

Pineapple ,the most perfect fruit, so sweet and juicy and refreshing, makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Mrsweasleysclock · 24/05/2023 22:29

Not food but loooove coffee. It doesn't wake me up I just love the taste. It's warm, relaxing, bitter followed by the sweetness of caramel, oh so indulgent

Senseofnopurpose · 24/05/2023 09:54

I once met someone who didn't like Marmite, I kid you not.

Fibber!

Hate peas. They are vile, pus filled sacks.

Love everything else especially avocados when ripe (used to have a tree in our garden in South Africa in the 1970's).

Love raw salmon sashimi, like velvet. 😋😋😋

Little green balls of evil

I love a good orange! I read somewhere that oranges were no longer popular because of the effort involved in peeling them!

I really, truly, honestly witnessed a colleague say they don’t eat oranges or apples because they involve…

Mushrooms.

I think mushrooms are brilliant, definitely my 'Desert Island food'. However, there are loads of people out there who don't just dislike mushrooms, but physically loathe them.

(In saying that, I feel the same way about okra.)

I am sorry to say it but you are weird.

Mushrooms are SLIMEY fuckers. I don’t hate them, but they are fungi ie a bit creepy

Shhhquirrel · 24/05/2023 23:16

Gentleman’s Relish (Patum Pepperium), spread sparingly on hot buttered toast, food of the Gods.

You are a great deal weirder than the mushroom lady

Sweetcorn makes me think of… it’s too nasty to say but bodily secretions…

I hate apples, any apples in any form.
I also hate marmite, devil's shit.
Love a good orange though, cut in half and squeezed with my fingers while drinking the juice, then turned inside out to eat the remaining segments and pith by pulling it off with my teeth. Delicious.

Saz12 · 24/05/2023 23:46

I absolutely adore raw potato. Peeled and sliced, obviously.

Ive no idea why theyre not a Thing.

EbonyRaven · 24/05/2023 23:49

Weirdly. I don't dislike them, but I can count on the fingers of one hand the amount I have eaten this century. Wouldn't care if they became extinct next year.
