How can people not like....

I just ate a delicious orange, and I found myself wondering "How can people not like oranges? They are practically perfect in every way" although I'm the only person in my house that likes them. They all like bananas though, the weirdos! What food do you feel like that about? Not a meal (although Dan Dan Noodles....." but a single food item.

If you find peeling an orange is too much faff - get these as they are an absolute godsend!

That looks great if you struggle with mobility in fingers etc.

Otherwise im
not sure we should be making more crap out of plastic.

Waits to be flamed

I love peeling oranges however, I particularly like the sprays of zesty juice. I’m a weirdo though.

NeedCoffeeNowPlease · 24/05/2023 11:05

I find them messy and annoying to prepare because of that. I have mandarins instead. Similar thing in a tidier package.

Mrsjayy · 24/05/2023 11:08

I'm too lazy I like easy peelers , tangerine or clementines. Oranges are to much work 😄

I don't like Scones people are always surprised 😕

Nearamir · 24/05/2023 11:14

Potato salad. Bloody delicious with mayo, gherkins etc.
Ds says it’s a waste of good potatoes.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 24/05/2023 11:15

I see your orange and raise you an olive.

Olive oil? Nectar of the gods.

Olives? The shrivelled bollocks of the devil.

As you were.

Ladysaurus · 24/05/2023 11:18

Cheese. I love cheese.

Can't stand legumes that pop (peas, beans, un-humoused chickpeas. I love lentils though... It's the popping and the texture it releases.

CurlewKate · 24/05/2023 11:21

Very sharp big knife. Cutting board. Kitchen towel. 8 segments.Solitude. Heaven.

There is also the unintended consequence of eating an orange is that cats entertainingly hate the smell. Serves them right when the greedy little so and so's hear the noise of chopping and rush in assuming it's something cats like, then do a comedy volte face...

I have an orange in the evening every single day. It is a treat I look forward to. I am now very discerning when it comes to picking them, and can tell a good 'un from a dry, tasteless lump.
I have one of the plastic peeler things and take off the worst of the pith with a sharp knife. It takes about 3 minutes.

INeedABrewPlease · 24/05/2023 11:32

Anchovies. Melt in mouth, salty heaven.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 24/05/2023 11:33

I think oranges are quite boring. They can also be a pain in the arse to peel and get the pith off.

now satsumas, love those

TooOldForThisNonsense · 24/05/2023 11:35

SaladRooney · 24/05/2023 09:24

I'm a fiend for blood oranges. The short season, the fabulous streaks of colour, the sharpness... I have been known to eat ten or fifteen a day. It's probably just as well the deason is so short.

Blimey! How long were you on the toilet for?

Highdaysandholidays1 · 24/05/2023 11:35

I don't like oranges (like the taste, not the faff) satsumas, clementines, all these type of fruit. Too many dried horrid ones as a child, can't take the uncertainty.

NancyJoan · 24/05/2023 11:38

Raspberries. They are just so perfect. DS does not agree.

I don’t like ice cream tho.

Madamecastafiore · 24/05/2023 11:41

Adore beetroot, roasted or pickled or just boiled too. On a salad with apples and smoked warm mackerel is amazing,

Mushrooms too I love, the strange scent is lovely.

Bananas have to be only just ripe or they're awfully squishy and sweet.

I can't understand the hate for olives by a lot of my friends, they're like savoury nuggets of deliciousness.

Mangoes on the other hand are straight in Room 101. Bloody god awful texture.

Blankspace35 · 24/05/2023 16:48

Its pears that i dont like, its the texture, theyre just weird to me and i hate them

shumway · 24/05/2023 16:58

I adore oranges.

tailinthejam · 24/05/2023 17:26

I like an orange as much as the next person, but citrus fruits give me heartburn and reflux so I avoid.

DontGoBreakingMyHeart · 24/05/2023 17:41

Bananas are the work of Satan.

I already didn’t like them, then I had to have a procedure called a T.O.E. Which is a procedure where they put a probe down your throat to look at your heart.

To do that they have to numb your throat, and the spray tastes like rotten bananas, and because it numbs the throat it makes you gag and feel like you can’t breathe. And the reaction made my heart shoot up to 225 bpm an my blood pressure to plummet, and I ended up in ICU on life support. The reason that happened was because my heart was so weak at the time, and the reaction to the spray just made things worse. But since then even the smell of banana gives me flashbacks.

DrHousecuredme · 24/05/2023 18:12

Definitely mashed potato. Eating it is like being tucked up in a warm blanket...what's not to like?
Sadly my ds hates it, which blows my mind 🤯

Slavica · 24/05/2023 18:23

GalileoHumpkins · 24/05/2023 08:31

A slightly under ripe banana is absolutely delicious. Celery is Satan's vegetable 😫

I am with you on both points!

PurpleParrotfish · 24/05/2023 18:57

Lots of fans of underripe bananas here! I only like bananas once they are properly ripe with a few tiny brown spots on the outside. By that point they are nice and sweet and have lost the mouth-drying tannins.

Also mashed potato is not exactly unpleasant, but it is pointless IMO. When you think of all the lovely things you can make with potatoes why do something which is totally bland with zero interest in either flavour or texture.

DorritLittle · 24/05/2023 19:06

I haven’t seen one thing on here that I don’t love. Even celery, just add mayonnaise.

The only things I can’t abide are marzipan and aniseed.

MrsCarson · 24/05/2023 19:24

I dislike bananas they give me heartburn. Oranges I can take or leave. I'm not big on fruit I prefer veg. Dd won't eat mashed potatoes it's a texture thing. She likes Avocados though as do I. Celery is the work of the devil I can't stand the after taste, Cilantro too, god awful after taste. Olives are good only when back, sliced and on a pizza

Babyroobs · 24/05/2023 19:26

I love a good orange but so many aren't good. Some taste really bitter or some of the little ones can be dry and nasty.
